PvP Questions
Welcome to PvP.
1.) Mids Hero and Villain Designer is the best current program for figuring out builds. It is still kinda wonky on PvP numbers, but it's really good for just figuring out what to take and when.
2.) SS/WP can be alright for Brutes, but unless you have an amazing gift for PvP it's not going to shine. Concentrate on +damage, +HP and + recharge. Personally, I wouldn't bother with trying to squeeze defense out of it because it won't be enough. Make the most of Knock Out Blow as that is your big gun. It has a hold and a KB component to it that is really useful for getting people to stick around long enough for a second attack.
The biggest obstacle you will face is range, or rather a lack of it. Not really a whole lot you can do about that since you are bringing fists to a gun fight. Taunt has a -range component that can help slow the bleeding from ranged opponents, but most people will just run till it wears off, then come back and shoot you some more. At 41 you can take Black Scorpion Patron that will get you webmace to help keep people in range somewhat.
And don't get upset when people use inspirations. Inspirations are still the most effective balancing mechanic the devs have introduced. Just remember that the more they pop, the faster they will run out. When that happens, they are easier to beat.

melee PVP is very hard to pull off. When range damage always has and still is king. You have to have a way to keep your foe in melee range. Which pretty much can't be done with out, outside help. How ever if your in to fightKlubing which is toe to toe melee stuff. SS/WP can be good if you build for + HP as been stated. Also use the Mids tool as well. If you want a better shot at melee pvp try a stalker. Or try SC for the zone not warburg.

One of the biggest issues I have run into is hoppy poppers, who hit me for tremendous damage, which in turn I manage to fire off one or 2 attacks before they hop off popping greens.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. There's your first hint - bring along inspirations and make use of them. For an SS/WP you can probably get away with reds, greens, and maybe a few oranges as needed. Always keep moving - mobility is key even in the "new" PvP, and if you're expecting your enemies to stand toe-to-toe with you you're in for a surprise. In the zones, use the terrain to your advantage, either to avoid your pursuers or to get the jump on them. Don't think that just because you attack someone or are attacked, that you need to stand around trading blows until one of you dies - don't be afraid to back off if you need to.
Once you get into the 40s you can start picking up patron pool attacks. The current favorite for PvP is Leviathan Mastery (for Spirit Shark). As a melee AT without any ranged attacks in your set you're at a disadvantage to begin with and it's good to pick up any ranged attacks you can as soon as you can (so you can peg someone as they try to get away, for example).
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Wow, thanks a lot for the great responses. They all make sense and do point out things that were kind of in the back of my mind, but never came to the front :P
I will take the advice of using the program to plan my toon ahead (I think a respec is in the near future) I'll also try out SC as well.
My playstyle, subconciously, is to come in, hit so hard they are panicking, and use that instant to unleash the rest of my attacks to finish them off, is there a build that has that particular mentality in mind?
Again, thanks a lot for the great answers, first time I have posted anywhere and not been flamed for it. Great community.

A sonic blaster, probably. On vil side, probably a night widow.
He ment a build for is ss/wb
I am new to PvP in CoX so I am going to ask a few questions with hopes of not getting flamed.
I currently have 2 PvP toons (at least i think they are pvp toons)
I do want to post my builds and I need software to do so. So here's my questions:
1) What is the recommended character builder software to post my builds?
2) My main PvP toon is a SS/WP Brute. I am currently level 37 and went to Warburg to immediately be humbled. I concentrated heavily on defense, which seems near useless now. I can take a good beating but the problem is, I can't unleash enough damage to put the squirrely d00ds at bay.
One of the biggest issues I have run into is hoppy poppers, who hit me for tremendous damage, which in turn I manage to fire off one or 2 attacks before they hop off popping greens.
Is melee PvP possible or has it been reduced to duels as I have a hard time keeping up with the ranged opponents. Any suggestions on how to possibly contain my opponent long enough to fire off my attacks or is it hopeless?
Please keep in mind, I am new to PvP and I know this must sound stupid, but I have a genuine interest in learning. I play on freedom server and my Brute is Boston Crusher.
Thanks in advance.
