This is the Origin story of my main, Mentalshock. Updates will come on an as written basis. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the tale.

July 12, 2002

Pain. My first clear memory was of an intense pain throughout my body, as if every nerve was jolted awake at the same time.

Noise. My head was filled with the chatter of tens of thousands of voices, battling each other for dominance.

Anger. Shattered memories drifted tantalizingly on the edge of my awareness only to disappear as if they had never been.

I discover I can move at least partially.

Instantly the voices consolidate into three distinct minds.

"Subject:Unique. Resistance: Incredible. Test: Failure!"

"Not: Acceptable. Terminate: Subject : Immediatly!"

"Readings: Abnormal. Mental activity: Beyond: Rikti. Awareness: Active!"

My eyes open. I realize I am bound with three alien beings looking down at me. In that instant, I realize their thoughts. I am their captive. They have done something to me that I cannot recall. All I know is that they mean to kill me, and that is not something I can allow.

Instantly the raw scent of crackling ozone fills the room, and to my shock a powerful surge of electricity escapes my body and sends the aliens into convulsions. The bindings char and collapse into ashes. A shrill alarm sounds, but I am surprised to realize that I am not hearing it through my ears, but through my mind.

I have no intent of being around when that alarm is responded to. In the dark recesses of my mind, I can still hear the chatter of the voices. They must be the Rikti, but the importance of that fact escapes me. I concentrate, and in that moment, each mind appears as a beacon to me. I am aware of their exact location. There are not only tens of thousands, there are Tens of Millions, scattered throughout the planet! Not wanting to risk detection, I close my mind off tightly, and head away from the largest cluster.

It strikes me that I have no idea where I am, of who I am, or even of what I am capable of. Not exactly a good position to be in an unknown situation.
