Pinnacles of Society (Open RP)

You stand there, gazing at this seemingly plain, innocuous room. Where is the untold danger? What happened to the endless stream of power, of money?
What trickery is this?
"I bid thee welcome," a male voice pierces the very essence of silence. "You're perhaps wondering what is so special about this building?" it asks you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Have a seat," a male voice seems to bore into your head like a drill. "Wonderin' where the loot is? Oh, oh - the source of unlimited power, perhaps that is what you were seeking?" The laughter echoes through the room, down the hallway, but, more importantly, through your head.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Each voice falls silent, as if its owner is observing you, or even peering into your very soul...
Seemingly in unison, the two voices say the same thing...and you almost swear you hear two voices coming from one source...
"What do you want? Answers to what brought you here? I cannot answer that," the voice says.
Facing you, lays a long, foreboding corridor. Where it leads to, you're not certain - however, you get this sudden urge to walk down this corridor, to follow this path. Could it lead into oblivion itself? Perhaps it will lead you into another dimension. Several thoughts run through your head as you walk down this path, including memories of missions past, and your latest victories over various criminal organizations.
While running through the motions of your most recent foray, you noticed this building standing amidst the skyscrapers of Steel Canyon; it had gone unnoticed by you in the past. Today, however, something was different about this building, something you completely didn't expect. You didn't know what to expect as you entered the building...
You're careful not to speed down this corridor ... for when you started to follow it, you noticed there were no doors along its long walls. The flickering, florescent lighting illuminated everything in the hallway, yet you felt like you were missing something with each and every step. This was just too odd, out of place, and unlike anything you would've expected from the many criminals you've previously encountered. If you were keeping track of the time via a watch or other method of time-keeping, you remember to check the time - but your watch/time-keeping device is not working.
The corridor keeps going...you're getting tired of this, your curiosity gives way to brief moments of anxiety touched with a bit anger. Who in their right mind would put such a hall in any building? Why is this light so infuriating? If you attack the walls, you feel immense pain, so excruciating, unlike anything you've ever felt in your life.

Scene 2:
As you're making your escape from your latest heist, you notice something odd in Cap au Diable - a spire unlike anything you've ever seen during your entire stay in the Rogue Isles. It almost reminds you of some sort of monument, and you immediately think of fame and fortune from robbing this place. Perhaps it could even accommodate your every whim as your own, personal hideout. Even more so was the promise of some untold power you could gain from the contents of this spire...
As you enter the spire, you're astonished by its sheer magnitude, the magnificent beauty of its decorations. Untold riches are at the very tip of your consciousness, and you reach out blindly trying to obtain it. While you're grasping at the empty air before you, something catches your eye ... a long, foreboding corridor stretches out before you...

Scene 3:
Celebratory shouts reverberate through your skull as you approach what seems to be the end of the hallway. Before you stand the largest pair of doors you've ever seen in a building - seemingly of solid wood, with large, black metallic pull handles on each door. Large, round, black metallic door knockers hang from each door, each enticing you to pull back on one and slam it against the huge door. Each door is decorated the same ... six raised panels on each, the panels outlined with the same, black metal as the handles and knockers. The top two panels are curved at the top, the metal curving with their form. Resisting the urge to knock on the door, or to slam on the door using the convenient knockers, you test a handle on the door...
The door opens...
-Fade to Black-
Complete and utter silence surrounds your very existence as you step through these doors.
Your eyes scan the room - the walls to your left and right are nearly covered by gigantic, sprawling bookshelves, appearing to be made of the same material as the doors. The hard, plain floor of the hallway gives way to a decorative carpet of unknown design and material. Neo-lanterns adorn the back wall, evenly spaced at a specific interval. They give off artificial light, not actual flame. Close to the back wall, and centered in the room, stands an enormous desk. Various items, papers, and other odd things are littered across the desktop; an orderly pattern can almost be discerned from the mess, though.
Standing before the desk, on the side closest to the doors, are two chairs, which are facing the desk. They are spaced just far enough apart to see the opposite side of the desk. Behind the desk is a tall-back chair, appearing to be made of leather. Not that new age, artificial leather, either. You're not really sure. Its back is turned to you...
Any sensations to approach the chair and peer into the eyes of its occupant are quelled, however. Something tells you to just flat out wait.
