Who is your base designer and who are your supergroup leaders? Base designer: Enlightened. Leaders: Pooky and Enlightened. Which server is your base on, and is it a Hero or Villain SG/VG? Guardian, heroside. When was your supergroup established? 01/25/2006 How many players are in your supergroup? 140+ What is the approximate value of your base? 29,827,550 prestige. How much time do you spend working on your base? How much time have you invested so far? I started completely redoing the base on the 8th of December, and finished January 22nd. I spent six or more hours every daysometimes up to twelve hours a day. What is your favorite base item? Least favorite? My favorite base item has to be the desk, or better yet, the "magic" desk. My least favorite: can I say badges? The helpful items require a lot of time. What is your favorite thing about base editing? Least favorite? I dont really have a favorite thing about base editing. My least favorite is that you have to use the system in a way it wasn't meant to be used to do anything really creative. What is the highest thing on your wish-list for new base items? Water...I would love to have waterfalls or pools. If you could give just one piece of advice to a new base editor, what would it be? Be patient! Anything else you'd like to add about your SG, your base or the base system in general? Nothing more really. I would just like to show people what you can do, and then be able to go and see what others have created. |

Renegades vs. VORI
| The Renegades won Match One in an extremely close 3-2 win over VORI. Renegades score from -Maximum1 (2) and Death Penalty (1), while Samedi2 (2) responded for VORI. Match Two opened up on the Siege factory map, where combatants generally circle the periphery. M3zm3r1z3 opened with some intense Psionic attacks while -Maximum1 Supersped around the enclave trying to score a quick strike on an opponent. More Dots was caged early on in the match while his pets made quick forays out of combat. Later on, Unholy Requiem and -Spec traded kills on Acidz and M3zm3r1z3 respectively. Death Penalty snuck a kill on Kayfabe while VORIs Quemadora used Sonic powers to alter the battle. Squishkrieg dropped -Spec a few seconds later, keeping the match close to the very end. VORI wins Match Two 4-3, with their kills coming from Unholy Requiem (3) and Squishkrieg (1) to Renegades -Spec (1), Death Penalty (1) and -MaXimum1 (1). Match Three started on the Crey Lab map, but was reset when VORI lost a member, and a second time when both teams loaded into the Troll Cave map, typically banned for high-end PvP matches. The final match eventually loaded into the Steel Canyon map. There was a fair amount of to and fro around the central statue as some -Specs pets congregated while Quemadora offered disruption thanks to Sonic abilities. Unholy Requiem, fully buffed from a fellow Thermal, defeated -Spec early in the game. -Spec recovered quickly to score a kill on M3zm3r1z3, leaving the array of pets clogging the central area. A brilliant chase occurred when Quemadora was pursued by Broken-Rubber and others, fire blasts splashing on the buildings as she elevated her position to gain safety. The extremely quick-paced match ended in a 4-2 win for The Renegades. They gain the top spot in the Test Villain Ladder off kills from -Spec (2), Death Penalty (1) and -MaXimum1 (1) to Unholy Requiems (2) kills. Congrats Renegades, and good game VORI! Correction: In a previous report, Acidz was reported as having the Sonic Resonance powerset when he has the Thermal Radiation set. |

Couples that Play TogetherAncient Tree and | AT: I'll say her, I value my bed time opposed to couch time. GoP: We play together very well, like an oiled machine. AT: No it depends. She has solo builds, she can solo great, much better than me, I have this empath, or a lot of tanks ( I love to play tanks) she is blasters or controllers GoP: I do love my blasters... AT: Her toons compliment mine better than vice versa GoP: I'll still say that we are much stronger together than apart movie line> So what is your favorite thing about this game? GoP: My favorite is making new friends everyday, and having a great time with the old. i find that i just can't solo much anymore because I always want to be around others. Especially ones I have played with for years, its a real blast! I'll find that I can spend an hour just standing somewhere and chatting it up, and not even knowing where the time went. It may sound a little strange, but thats my fun. AT: The SG barrier (tags over your head) are more or less obsolete. In other MMO's you have a guild, or SG, what have you, and you pretty much play 100% of your time with them. You are almost forced to limit yourself to that field of talent, whereas in CoX being on a team that's 8 different players with 8 different SG's is just awesome to me. And you're all, or can be, best of friends. GoP: I agree completely So which side do you prefer to play? AT: Heroes, absolutely GoP: I broke teeth as a villain, but I much prefer the hero side. I guess it goes back with my last statement, thats where most of my friends are and thats where I find my fun AT: ditto, it's where my pals are, or in reality, our pals Which feature introduced in the game last year was your favorite? GoP: I guess I have a love/hate relationship with the inventions. I don't much like loot in the game and seeing so much min/maxing, but I hate not keeping up with the times so I do spend a lot of time with my main blaster getting her great sets and purples if I may sound hypocritical for a moment. AT: I guess I have to say RWZ. In accordance with my previous statements, allowing the players to open up beyond SGs to that of teaming with the other side, is fantastic! GoP: That is a good one. Finally, what do you think the future holds for you two? AT: Marriage. in a month or two, going the courthouse route, then a reception here for her family, then D.C. area for mine. GoP: We're engaged now and plan on marriage soon, we may be moving to a town closer to my family and hopefully get a house, have kids... 'The American Dream' i guess AT: and of course, we're planning on a pinnacle bash and wedding, since this is where it all started Well I wish you two many wonderdul years together! GoP: Thanks Teldy! AT: Thanks mate |

Wonders of Food SafetyCutting Boards: | And for the love of all things sacred, please wash your cutting boards between each type of food! Not just in between meats, but fruits and vegetables as well! Nasty pesticides can be on regular produce and, well, manure on organic produces that can just as easily be transferred to your other foods as E. Coli and salmonella. For cutting board types or material, I like the plastic ones. These are the ones I grew up with, and the ones that we used in Culinary School, where I learned all this stuff, and in commercial kitchens I have worked in as well. Okay, it's not actually plastic. It's a compound in the same family as PVC, Lexan, and bullet resistant plexi-glass. It's resistant to bacteria growth and is self-healing. My preference is a board around ¼ inch thick. This is a good surface to work from and avoids banging my knuckles on the counter or work bench. While wooden cutting boards do offer a lot of the same features as the plastic type, wood has a tendency to hold onto flavors and odors. I like to save my wood for cooked meat carving and cheese, as well as an impromptu bakers bench. Glass and thin cutting boards are not my style. A good knife on a glass cutting board is like nails on a chalk board, and I have already mentioned an aversion to banging my knuckles. And now time for the recap: [*]Keep your cutting surfaces as separated as possible. [*]Keep proteins and vegetation separated. [*]Cut delicate flavored things first and heavily flavored things last. [*]Wash or rinse between each item. [*]Use a cutting board that you like.
|

To my loyal readers,I apologize for not having much to show in the last few weeks. I am in the process of moving into a new apartment. I should have a full schedule of articles coming back to you all in the next few weeks. I have a few folks lined up for Behind the Mask for when I am done. However, I am going to continue the Couples that Play Together series, and add in one more new one. I call it Bonding Experiences. This series will focus on the play styles of an older player and a younger player. The criteria are to have a parent/uncle/aunt/guardian/mentor/older sibling or cousin and their child/niece/nephew/younger sibling or cousin discuss how they play the game together. If you are interested in any of these series, please send me a PM, and I will set up a time that will work for all of us. ~Teldon (Mike) | Looking forward, looking backHi everyone. By now, people have noticed my forum title change. I've been resisting it within myself for a month now, but it seems it will be set for awhile. Please congratulate Pants_Stealer as she has just been promoted this week. I had hoped that Lemur_Lad would be coming back soon, and by now people have heard that Dirtwolf is taking a break from the "City of" games. All this leads to me saying that Pants_Stealer and I are stepping up from Assistant Editor in Chiefs to being "in charge" of the Scoop. I am committed, as much as my studies permit, to growing the Scoop. I would love to see more involvement from the forums, be it guides, tips to fellow gamers, or a chance to help organize or report about a player event. If anyone has an interest in joining the Scoop, please contact myself, Pants_Stealer, or Marcian_Tobay who is our new staff recruiter. Sadly, given my current time constraints, I'm not able to take care of the puzzle section as much as I would love to. If anyone feels like they might be able to make some puzzles, please send a PM to myself, Pants_Stealer, or Marcian_Tobay. For every loss there is a gain, though. I would like to welcome HexGirl to the Scoop, who has agreed to provide fashion tips for supers. Looking back, we have done a good job of covering all aspects of the game. However, we have not covered the forums as much. I would love to hear suggestions on how we could bring some talk about the forums to the Scoop. If you have suggestions on how to improve the Scoop, feel free to PM an Editor in Chief, or an editor of a specific section of the Scoop. -Snow Globe |

The City Scoop
EXTRA! EXTRA!
By

This City Scoop has just learned that The Vanguard has released a forecasted
schedule of the anticipated Rikti attacks. Since the Rikti Invasion of
October of last year, there have been sporadic attacks on Paragon City and the
Rogue Isles. It is a commonly held belief that these attacks are in retaliation
for heroes and villains running some errand for the head of the Vanguard
organization, Lady Grey.
When Community Liaison, Lighthouse, made the announcement, he stated he was
issuing a warning, "The looming threat of the Rikti Invasion Force still hangs
like a dark pall over Earth." He added, "Despite the best efforts of humanity,
aggressive Rikti incursions still plague the planet." On a slip of paper was
written the following dates:
? March 7th through the 13th
? April 25th through May 1st
? June 13th through June 19th
? August 1st through August 7th
? Sept 26th through Oct 2nd
? November 14th through November 20th
"Advance warning systems indicate the Rikti are massing for attacks on (these)
dates throughout the year," stated Lighthouse.
We at the City Scoop have been urged to warn all who answer the call to
remember a few helpful tips about fighting this devastating foe.
[*]
When Zones within the cities are under attack, a world-wide alert will be
issued by Vanguard. This alert will show up in your Chat window on the System
channel, warning you in which zone attack is imminent.
[*]
While the invasion is occurring, players do not receive debt while outdoors in
an invaded zone.
[*]
Those in that zone that do not wish to be at risk of Rikti attack are asked to
take shelter immediately. They can do so by leaving the zone, or moving inside
buildings or under cover (overpasses, parking garages, etc.).
[*]
The combative inhabitants in a zone will move off the streets and to safer
locations when a Rikti Invasion takes place.
[*]
Rikti bombs appear to be unstable and not 100% reliable. Some do not explode on
impact and only embed themselves in the ground. These bombs have been noted to
detonate after a time, so take caution when you see these. They can be disarmed
or delayed by inflicting damage upon them.
Villains and Black
By
Hex Girl
Do you ever stand around looking at villain costumes, squinting your eyes,
trying to make out some of the details which just seems inevitably impossible
because it's black on black? Do you then find your eyes jumping to the one
costume that stands out? The one villain who dared to use colors, and not just
any colors, but vibrant ones? Your eyes stick to them like a kid walking by a
toy store window. You don't care how good or bad the costume is, it just amazes
you that a villain is using some color and you can't help but notice. Sure,
every other villain seems to have a touch of red on top of the black, but it
gets old.
Why is it that black is so widely used when it comes to villain costumes? Is it
because we associate black with being evil? Or is it because it's easier to
hide in the shadows when you match them? Well, I don't have an answer for you.
What I do have is a list of some of the greatest super villains (and not so
great) of our time! Lets take a look shall we?
Strutting the "white power suit," we have The Kingpin, Doctor Evil, and on many
occasions, Lex Luthor.
Being bold and proud in Purple and/or Red are The Joker, Magneto, Sentinels,
Roulette, Carnage, Mother Mayhem, Malaise, Omega Red, and The Green Goblin.
Cool and collected with the help of Blue are Apocalypse, Captain Boomerang,
Mister Sinister, and Ice Minstrel.
Green with power envy are Poison Ivy, Doctor Octopus, Dr. Doom, Scorpion, and
The Riddler.
While most of these villains have gone through several costumes over the years,
the colorful ones stick in our minds. So you see, you too can work toward world
domination in something that people will remember. Don't just be another
villain that, when talked about, people say "I think he wore black." Be
remembered! There are more colors than black!
