Fix Defense in Three moves: Version 2.0

Well, after careful reading and deciphering, I have finally made it to the end of the 13 pages of reading, skipped some and read most of the posts, and now got my 1 suggestion and 3 reasons why the devs will "never ever" implement this to the game at this point.

Points-

One: Fantastic idea and suggestion, I think that this could quite literately change the game and how it is configured. It may not have any real effect on the numbers, but maybe on how it's written and how the equation runs, and it would in the end, pan out as one of the greatest fixes this game has ever seen, but I felt I had to raze you up before I dropped the bomb. Now I get to my points that demean and discourage your wonderful idea.

Two: Now where you may feel this idea is worth presenting to the our "wonderful" Devs, there are about three reasons why they would laugh you out of the room before you could start. As Evil said earlier in the thread, his ideas get picked to implement cause; one, they are easy to imply and two, they appeal to the better nature of the devs. As we all would like to not believe that all of America isn't lazy, we can't, and with that in mind, that plays well into the concept of "Evils' suggestions are best." The easier something is, the more you feel like doing it (with the rare case that there are peeps who like a challenge, but that just means they haven't been challenged enough) because now you can put less effort into doing what you know you have to; the Industrial Revolution is the greatest example. So the point being here, is that the devs are just too darn "lazy" (and I stretch that word knowing I might get tempbanhammer) to data mine, study, and implement this into the game at this late an issue. To farther boost my point and hammer to nail, I would rather anyway, have the focus on the things in the game that need attention at this moment. ie. the chat bug, or the bug where the chat bubbles now don't have color, or that bug with the inspiration window, or even that one with the team box keeps popping up if you do something funny with it, and the list just goes on, or for those of who thinks it's a problem, that on going struggle with peeps farming... I really think that, that stuff will get addressed before they get down to the knitty-gritty. Now I know that at one point the devs will turn and say, man we really got a problem with that def/tohit system, we should really look into it and see what we can do, that much I know, but I also know it won't be for a very long time.

Three: Manpower. As also said before, they got just one guy working on the hard coding, and to be honest... I've done some coding and programing myself, and it's not no walk in the park, and it can get tiring looking at that LCD screen for 4 hours or 8 hours or however long... decoding and picking thur where you when't wrong in the coding. I'm not saying I know what he does, I'm just saying I know what he goes through to a degree. Maybe if they had bout 3 more guys with the same level of wisdom and knowledge on the game as Castle? they would have the time and resources to do that troublesome task, but as it stands now, not happening...

Four, and the last: Resources. With the economy on the down fall, people are charging more and buying less, if you get more peeps on your team, you need comps for them to use, a desk for them to work and money to pay them for working for you, common sense right? Plus you need to make sure they can do their job to the fullest, and the list goes on too... I mean everything you do requires work and time, and on your rare occasion, even patience. Now I know a lot of that can change and possible will, as it does with time and advertising. So this point can be mute in a matter of days, but it's still a point.

The bottom line, it's a perfect idea, whether it leaves the "Idea Hat" is up to the way things pan out in the near future. I can surely see the begins of this no later than I23 maybe even I21, but til then, we got to be patient and maybe even push the devs to really look into this when they got the time.

Now I got one thing that may make it a lot easier on them and still get what we want. I say they can make a new power set based around this concept to "test" the angles of this and see it's really as 3D as we have imaged it to be. I can totally see this as the tech armor idea I read about in a thread a little while ago. If they proceed with it this way, if it doesn't work, they can just change it to like the other sets, no harm, no foul. Where as if it does work, and works better... they can take steps to implement it in the other sets and pools affected.

And there's my book on my opinion.

W.W.

SR is unhittable, Ninjutsu is still kind of weak, and squishies are way too hard to hit. But it can be fixed.

Better to put it back the way it was and fix the powersets. Its a much simpler task and will break fewer other things.

Of course, that's a trick question Arcana. Do you think me an idiot? (Wait, don't answer! ) I want Revive replaced with Strength of Will of course. Don't scare my poor Regen children with dreams of HP and/or END crashes, we don't do that on the side of green.

You meanie.

Take my revive away and die.

LOL, you do realize that they did implement this (or at least in some manner) in PvP in I13?

You realize Elusivity is a tool that can be used to 'fix powersets', right? Because it gives a finer control of balance between attack and defense, right? That additive Defense can become overpowering when stacked too much and so the only choice is to leave it weak so that the PvPers say 'loldefense', and multiplicative Elusivity can fix that, right?

You do realize its an attempt to find an easy fix via a global slider rather than fine tuning the powers and how they behave ?

The term to describe elusivity is Kluge. Trying to "Fine Tune" with it is going to be adding kluges on top of kluges which there are plenty enough of in the game . The problem of elusivity is that it is not clever enough by half. Its trying to tweak the to hit model to deal with one end of the scale and destroying everything thats not at that end of the scale. Instead of trying to be clever (lazy ?) the defense sets need other components to keep them competitive in pvp. Which with the way things work now would have been doable.

The to hit formula with the exception of the clamps was rather elegant and one of the better parts of the game. Now it looks like it will be tweaked into insanity as tweaks are added to fix the last set of tweaks.

LOL.

If you regard the standard To Hit formula as being elegant, with both an additive and a multiplicative to hit bonus (ToHit and Accuracy) but only an additive defense (Defense) and regard adding a multiplicative defense (Elusivity) into the formula as unbalancing, well, then there's nothing I can do respond to such illogic.

Illogic ? From a man who argues with a straight face that its sensible to make global changes to fix problems in specific powersets instead of just the powersets.

Yes I don't doubt you can't respond.
