Looking good so far. My main comment would be that I think you will want to vary the colors a bit - as it is, the colors are all the same tone, and don't lend any sort of feeling of 'realism' to the piece.
Try picking a light source, then figure out where it would hit the clothing, hair, skin, etc. Lighten up the areas that should get more light, and darken the areas that shoujld be in shadow.
I've generally used some dodge and burn techniques for that stuff, but it depends on what style you want to emulate. If you're going for a non-blended look like it was done with markers, then just swaths of darker or lighter variations on the base colors would suffice. Sort of like this from a site I regularly check out: colorized phoenix (Not sure if you can see it without logging in).
