Where did the MMOART crew go?
Not so much that he's slow Cold Heritage, he's just so far behind. People have literally had to wait a couple of years and with his long list of clients that's just too long of a wait for me to sit with comfortably when you have to pay up front.

I think he's worth the wait, personally. But then again, I'm biased.

No one is questioning the talent, just our patience. Love their work, but when you're paying that much, all up front, just seems like an awfully long time to wait.

QFT, exactly my feelings

No idea about them either. I do know though that someone who won the costume contest for the CuppaJo party, was having a fit on the forums last year because he never got even a sketch after 6 months.
Hate to tell you this, but most places will put paying customers first. Contest winners sometimes get very very low priority, and some never see pieces.

I was under the impression that the whole "I didn't get my art!" thing was due to a miscommunication and an email failure of some sort.

MMOART 2008
Happy New Year everyone! So here is my first post of the year. Looking back on the past 12 months, I must confess that my life has been riddled with a series of truly unfortunate events. Some were brought on by my own doing, and others were very much out of my control. Needless to say it has impacted my work and my family in ways that I am not accustomed to. For that I offer my most sincere apology, to both my clients and to my family.
In retrospect MMOART.com is your classic case of a business growing too fast too soon. If I was making hamburgers or building toasters, I could simply invest in more equipment to get the job done. I cant do that with my art because it would impact the quality and that is simply something I am not willing to do. With that being said I am willing to offer 3 options to my current clients and move forward from there. The idea is to get my queue to a manageable size and keep it there from here on out.
Option 1: Refund
If I have yet to start work on your art (meaning I have not yet sent you at least a rough draft) then I will refund your 50% deposit. This may take a few weeks but I will be sure to get it to you as fast as possible.
Option 2: Balance
If I have already begun work on your piece, I will complete your piece to a stage that is equal to your deposit. This will release you from any further financial obligations outside of the shipping costs.
Option 3: Steadfast
For those who are really looking forward to having your commission complete and want to take advantage of what Im sure will be a smaller queue size. Then stick around and let me create a masterpiece for you. If your concept has evolved or you have completely moved on to another game then we can adjust your commission accordingly.
Please direct all emails concerning the above options to support@mmoart.com
I would like to thank you all for your support and understanding over the last few months. I hope that regardless of the option you choose that you will still stop by to check out the new art and say hello =)
Sincerely,
Jomaro Kindred (Gill Bates)
Owner/Art Director

Hmm, as I recall it is 50% up front and the remainder upon completion. Which is normal for any type of commission.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes - "50% up front and the remainder upon completion." - that is correct.
I'm relieved to hear that Thor's Assassin has actually spoken to Gill, that he's still alive.
As I said, I hadn't wanted to stir up trouble, but was very concerned at the total lack of information.

Ah, sounds like Gill took on a bit too much (understandible considering unexpected delays). I'm glad that he's come out and said "hey, if you're not up for waiting anymore, you can have your deposit back".
For some reason though, I don'tthink many people will bite on this. I think people just want their art done fast... and in this case, it doesn't seem possible.
Personally, what I would do if I was Gill in this position... put a hold on accepting more (for a few months) and clear off the backload. His demand would still be there when he opened the flood gates once again.

YAY!! Looks like Gill is back at it and there's a queue!

Woot!
Great to see them up and running again! The queue was a great idea too!
*looks for Soul Train in the queue*
Damnit. This is gonna take awhile.

So - what's the difference between the "event Queue" and the OTHER queue?

Wow - still half way down the list with my two. Hmmm...pondering if I should stay the course or not.

I'm going to guess that these were works won at Events or Contests. Where as the others are fully commissioned works.
I deduced this from seeing Junkyard King in the Events list. He was the first place winner of the MMOART Costume Contest.
