I use a leadholder which I can't seem to sharpen, no matter how many times I put it through the one that came in the cap :P I was gonna' get a set of them that had a lot of darker shades, but I decided against it

Well, with leaderholders I always twist the pen 90 degrees when the lines tends to get thicker. That way you will have less surface, which means thinner lines.

I guess part of it is that I also have a tendency to retrace things, although this gets really bad when I have to ink it.. THanks for the tip
