Chibi Widow faces the future

No, I hadn't forgotten about my promise to put together a portrait of an undead heroine. I was just a little pressed for time recently, is all.
Here's Gamma.Girl's murdered masked avenger.

It IS a little dark, so depending on your monitor settings you may have to up the gamma to see the details.

well, there's no denying that the art is just absolutely amazing. You have a talent that I could only wish I had.

but it is a very very different vision of Chibi Widow than I've ever had.

This is why I could never be a commercial artist. While I'm generally pleased with my work, the finished product is pretty much accidental, and bears little resemblance to the mental (or reference!) image I began with.

Which makes me all the more appreciative of truly talented artists like Scarf, who can put together beautiful lines that actually look like what they're supposed to look like.

But as it stands...

Here's my scrapper, in-game.

Here's my honest-to-goodness attempt to reproduce that costume.

I've been at peace with the fact that my art relies on chaos and accident for years now... but it also means that I lurk on this forum more than I post, despite an eagerness for subjects.

I think your art is totally fascinating. It's very different than drawn work and so you can't approach it the same way. I don't think art has to always be a literal translation from one medium to another (screenshot costume to interpreted artwork done by traditional means).

Unique and interesting.

now, you see, I made the mistake of just looking at the chibi pic and not the rest of your gallery. From looking at your gallery it makes more sense now.

Just wanna chime in here

I don't do work for pay for the same reason , I get told to draw turtle boy and find out that I have a nifty new idea for turtle boy that has no bearing on what the customer wants (its ever so troublesome) thats why I just do freebie or gift art because I don't have to really deal with folks wanting tweaks or redos nor do I have to worry about pleasing anyone but me

plus as im still learning and am very much an amateur i'll be honing a bit longer until I get to the rank of "well regarded apprentice" and hopefully by then i'll have matured enough to actually draw what folks want me to draw :P

<3

see we aren't quite that different spooky vampire cat girl
