Worlds Apart (Open RP)
"Comment: Oh goody, another human meatbag. Query: What is your identification meatbag?"
Apparently the orb despised all things organic. Well, all things organic that didn't include it's own team mates.
Radiator felt the sudden crushing gravity. Despite the pain he was still able to move. By now he'd concentrated quite a bit of his power into his extremities, preparing for the atomic blast.
The blast to the shoulder didn't help. His energy was dangerously unstable before. Throwing in foreign energy was like pouring oil on a fire. In that moment he went critical.
Normally this would have meant a massive atomic blast. However, the shot to his shoulder interrupted the charge and so he was forced to expend all the energy he'd already built up.
The pure kinetic force of the blast shot outwards in all directions, knocking over various Vanguard instruments and sending some unsecured pieces flying. The radiation that came with it was rather deadly, and could quite possibly be enough to give someone radiation poisoning. They certainly wouldn't feel good after being exposed to such a blast.
A few seconds after the blast ghost reappeared. There was something diffrent about him though. While in phase shift he'd had the chance to switch into his battle armor.
The armor was all black and white, much like that of the Vanguard. His face mask had a rather distinct look to it, with bright white eyes and an eerie almost robotic appearnce. He had no cape, but he did have quite a bit of equipment on his person in the form of bandoleers and shoulder strapped weapons.
He brought his assault rifle to bear, having already chosen his target. He didn't even need to take the time to aim. Depressing the trigger, he fired a long burst of armor piercing rounds into Ryatt66. The bullets were specially designed to harm even the toughest of metas, and he'd seen them in play against even the mighty Zeus Titan robots, with moderate successs. As the thunderous roar of his assault rifle filled the room Radiator slowly backed away from the task force.
Wihtout his body wrappings on people could see his true form. Beneath the wrappings lay a thick black and green suit of armor. His helmet had two thin slits from which his crimson eyes could glow.
His boots suddenly ignited, thermal exhaust propelling him into the air. As he floated about his long black cape fluttered about behind him. "Anyone else wanna go a round with me?" he asked in a scratchy, almost garbled mechanical voice.
Jake turned and saw Radiator. He saw him burst suddenly into flame, and immediately his suspicions, having already been well grounded, were now stabalized, cemented, and fortified beyond all means necessary. He even saw the offensive immediately start on the flamer.
However, Jake himself did not act. Instead, he watched. He observed the conflict, with great scrutiny, in fact. He was certainly watching for something, but what?
Essex's eyes widened as their arrival was punctuated by Radiator's own, and she gasped as he began to assault the organic beings in the room.
"Honestly, as if there isn't enough to worry about!" she called forward to him. "You really mustn't disrupt all this, it's really mean of you...Isn't there another way? Why are you doiing it?"
She held the orb out to Cory with one hand, looking worried, and with the other began surveying the individuals in the room, frantically dispensing bursts of nanomachine metabolic enhancers and mental stability neuronanites, worriedly sending through a few large bursts of 'repair' nanites as well for any damage their bodies may have sustained.
At the words of the orb, she looked surprised.
"Wh-what's wrong with organic beings, sir?" she asked tentatively, keeping one eye on the conflict.
Japancakes.

"Reply: I have hated all organic beings ever since they created Windows Vista. It's like the Bubonic plague for us machines you know..."
Ghost noticed the odd little pink robot healing the task force members. He quickly turned, pointing the rifle at her now. He intuitively moved his fingers across the rifle until he could feel the triggre for the greande launcher.
There was a loud Ptuwh as the explosive projectile was hurtled out of it's launcher and went screaming towards it's target.
-----------------
Scarab hadn't been expecting a counter attack so soon. His warning went off like a police siren in his mind. The assassin soon learned that Ineffable was trying to knock him down. After tossing the large slab away he did a sort of spin at his waist.
Ineffable was slowly tearing away at his armor. He couldn't take this kind of punishment for any length of time. Instead he let the mechanical parts affixed to his gloves grab onto his blades. The curved swords rotated in place until they once again ran from his wrists up to his forearm.
A thin wire shot out of his wrist and hit Ineffable squarely in the forehead. At this range, it would have been absolutely impossible for Scarab to miss.
Ineffable suddenly felt a massive electrical charge surging through his body. He probably did some shaking. The electrical burst could probably do a number on his body if he didn't let go soon.
OOC: Darkvapor. Stop posting. Now. Give other people a chance to catch up.
BIC: The grenade Ghost had fired at Essex froze in midair, landing with a heavy thump on the ground about a meter from its target.
"Now just what is the meaning of this?" Archlich said angrily, his voice cutting through the sounds of combat like a hot knife through butter. "Can you fools not leave your bickering for more opportune times?"
Glancing down at the little pink android, Archlich snatched the metal orb from her hands and then teleported one hundred feet straight up. Now floating in space above the damage research station, Archlich tossed the orb up past his head and then teleported back into the portal room.
"Guns off the girl, [censored]!" Solid Shot suddenly shouted as his own foot thrusters ignited and he shot forward, clearly intending to ram into Ghost and slam the both of them into a wall.
"Query: Intelligence: Enemy operatives," Cher'tak said as he held both arms up in front of him, weathering Radiator's blast as well as a high threat level Rikti boss could. The Chief Soldier was pushed back along the ground slightly, leaving skid marks on the floor, and was lightly crisped but otherwise ok. If Radiator had been able to build up to full power, however, things might have been different.
But such possibilities were of no concern to the Warmaster as he stalked forward, unlimbering his bladerifle and bringing it up in an uppercut in one smooth motion.
Toy's bots, on the other hand, were knocked about by the minor atomic blast like unpopped corn in a kettle. Mini Bot and Toy Bot flew back at least twenty feet before grabbing onto something that arrested their flight while the protector bots were knocked onto their backs and sent skidding across the ground. Only Combat Toy managed to keep its feet, but even then it was heavily charred on the side facing Radiator. Toy built his bots tough, but there were limits.
"Mother [censored]," Combat Toy grunted as his torso pivoted toward Ghost, blasting out with a couple of plasma beams before turning back toward Radiator and releasing its hefty wrist blade.
"I'm going to enjoy this," stated the assault bot as it rushed forward, coming at Radiator from a different side than Cher'tak was on.

"Oh [censored] me," Toy Dispenser said as he got Acid's warning. "Acid, if you need any help in the next thirty or so seconds, just ask. I'll be the closest guy around until I get back to the main group."
"We should go now, boss," Small Toy said as its head tilted up to look Toy in his eyes.
"Indeed we should," Toy Dispenser replied as his anti-grav system hummed to life and sent the two hurtling back into the research station.
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
"You mean the two that were with you guys are gone?" Acid questioned curiously at Jake's response of tracking the other three down, "Yeah, probably a good idea then. I'll be back shortly too...and thanks, Toy, but I think things are good on my end. You'll never guess what I just found. Zero out."
With that, he terminated transmission, acknowledging Ineffable's playtime with a curt nod, then vanished into thin air once again. Acid had teleported elsewhere...
--------------------
Radiator's plan didn't get too far. He had assumed too much.
Specifically, he'd assumed that he could simply pull his stunt in the midst of a large chamber filled with roughly two dozen highly trained Vanguard operatives (not counting the HVAS units), the head of the organization, and a trio of Rikti standing not a meter from him.
By the time he'd dropped his disguise, the Psi-Scout's blade already dove toward his sternum, Lk'Onik already knowing his plans and intent to stop them by cleaving the man squarely in half without mercy. At roughly the same time, the Lady Grey heaved her fist onto the alarm switch on the communications console, calling all troops to combat.
Luckily for Radiator, the Psi-Scout had struck out on his own, having forgotten to inform his comrades in the heat of the moment. This caused Sah'Teece to intervene, wedging Lk'Onik aside due to the erroneous through that the Psi-Scout had become over-agitated once again.
By the time Radiator blew his top, it was of course too late to rectify his mistake. The two Rikti bounded across the floor like rag dolls, limbs flailing as they frantically tried to catch themselves and roll to a stop.
Then again, their intervention wasn't what Radiator should have been worrying about. His main concern at present were the roughly two dozen very ticked Vanguard personnel in the chamber, most of whom had already grabbed one type of weapon or another and now zeroed in on the very foolish man.
Worse yet, his blast didn't seem to have been nearly as powerful or large as Radiator had initially thought. Indeed, there hadn't even been any radiation levels above nominal levels. What was going on here?
The explanation was rather simple - Acid's ship. If it could prevent the nuclear charges set about the base from detonating by suspending their reactions, it stood to reason that the nuclear fission processes Radiator used to power his Atomic Blast wouldn't hold up against it either.
Since Ghost had waited a few seconds before shifting back into phase with this plane, this meant the Vanguard operatives had plenty of time to spend with the unguarded Radiator - and they weren't picky about methodology.
Several Vanguard Soldiers led off with rifle bursts, aiming carefully and not employing WP rounds or flashbangs in order to not endanger the charging Warmaster with friendly fire, which everyone knew isn't. Sergeants and Colonels joined into the fray, attempting to turn Radiator into Swiss cheese with their cutting-edge munitions.
Worse yet, Radiator suddenly felt portions of his life force rapidly leave his body, Vanguard's Adepts and Wizards draining it away to harm him and aid themselves and those around them simultaneously before following up their life-draining strikes with bolts of ice conjured from their staves.
By then, the few seconds had passed, and Ghost had re-merged with this plane. One would think he'd help Radiator out against the superior assaults from all around, but instead he seemed to ignore everything but the new arrivals in the portal chamber at the other end of the room.
Be that as it may, he simply presented too good of a target once he'd taken to the air.
"Here!" came the shouted response to his taunt from multiple sources. With no cover or friendlies nearby to impede them, several Vanguard took aim and let loose flashbangs to impede Ghost's optical and audile senses with the intent of severely cutting his accuracy as well as reducing his capability to defend himself.
Part of the arcane aspect of Vanguard's force capitalized on this, a few Adepts and Sorcerers blasting spheres of crackling lightning his way. If Ghost believed the common myth that a ball of high-powered electricity couldn't harm those not in contact with the ground, he'd be in for a very nasty surprise. Indeed, even if he didn't, should these balls of lightning make contact, it wouldn't be fun for him.
Long story short, Radiator and Ghost were definitely in over their heads. Assuming no one else would react to their transgressions had been a costly mistake - and to only make their situation worse, by now the HVAS units in the Mechanical sectors had powered up fully once more and would shortly be joining the engagement, as would, or at least chances were, the Lady Grey...
--------------------
If Toy Dispenser spared a glance to the landing field he'd been flying over until shortly, the mechanoid may have noticed one of the large horizontal gates in the metallic tarmac start its opening sequence.
A narrow, straight slit appeared inside a circular demarcation almost 500 meters in diameter, slowly widening as the multi-meter-thick gate slid open further and further...
--------------------
"What you see is what you get." one of the technicians gathered about the laptop in question answered Matt with a shrug, gesturing at the open audio file. He replayed the recording once more, "Sorry, but that clip's all that's on there."
Unai Kemen appeared to have intent to add something to this, but at that moment the alarms blared once again. They produced a different sequence of times this time, signifying they'd been set off from the other side of the portal. Though nobody presently knew, the cause had been the Lady Grey heaving a fist onto the console at that very moment.
Longbow forces near the portal went into action immediately, taking a knee and aiming true. They expected a threat to come through at a moment's notice, and they'd be damned if it werent blasted, burned, and full of bullet holes before it take two steps. A Ballista Soldier already deployed his large force field, expecting the worst.
In summation, the moment HK 48 emerged from the gateway, he found himself staring down some hefty firepower. Longbow may have been the unofficial kicking rock of many villains, but the smart ones knew Ms. Liberty's strong-arm force still wasn't to be trifled with when things came down to the metal.
Thankfully, luck was on the robot's side. The Longbow soldiers still would've shot him on sight, no doubt about it, but while he found himself staring them down, they found themselves looking at but thin air thanks to his powerful cloaking device.
Still, it was never a good idea to rely on luck. While the Longbow may not have been able to detect him, the small band of Vanguard scattered about Portal Court certainly could, and already he could see a few of them come running. From other directions came more Longbow, and these had Police Drones in tow - never a pleasant thing to encounter. HK 48 would have done well to try and get away before anything spotted him...

The wire hit Ineffable squarely in the forehead.
And disintergrated upon impact. The electrical current that HAD managed to get through hadn't appeared to have achieved anything.
That's when Ineffable rose from the floor like some kind of monstrous shadow being, and wrapped Scarab in a massive bear-hug, his entirely body bringing about his destructive aura to obliterate Scarab then and there. At that range, dodging was essentially impossible, especially considering how there was a massive stone slab directly behind Scarab, and walls to his left and right. Worse yet, Ineffable's arms were wrapping about the stalker in such a way that his arms would be pinned-He wouldn't be able to counter with his swords.

"I see..." Matt grumbled, "Hm... I never met a Texan around here... He turned to ask Unai about it, but noticed the forces gathering at the portal instead.
"Oh well," he grumbled as he drew his blade and took a position near the rear, "I guess not everything has to run smoothly..."

Sheldon picked himself up from the blast and cursed. He was almost worried about radiation poisoning and started firing up a set of his kinetic powered nanites when he was hit by Essex's own healing technology. Noticing that his monitors indicated the poisons and toxins fading from his bloodstream, he turned to the tiny pink android.
Wiggling the fingers of his left gauntlet in a quick but complex pattern, he fired off a green beam at Essex. If she could see the tiny robots now surrounding her, she would notice that they were energizing, repairing and increasing her rate of speed. The repairs and the energizing were a tad slow, much slower than her own recovery and regeneration effects, but the speed boost was second-to-none.
Conversely, Sheldon turned to Radiation's perforated form and fired a green beam at him. This one siphoned the energy from his body and his speed, delivering it to the inventor.
"Let's try this again," Sheldon hissed as he launched another nanite gravity wave at Radiation, "And this time, stay put!"
From here, he just seemed to randomly fire in every direction, boosting the speed of anybody he thought would benefit from it, especially the rooted Randall Grey who stormed angrily into the Command Center.
Cory nodded to Archlich's handling of the strange little black orb and prepared his own magic. Feeling it course through him like a river, he focused his sight on Radiation, blasted and broken as he was, and prepared a subtle sliver of ice. All he'd need is to get close enough...
Ryat66 received his speed boost and cheered. He then proceeded to approach and attempt to pummel the bejebus out of Radiation with a flurry of tiny electrified fists.

Luck was definately on HK 48's side. His cloaking device made him invisible to the Longbow. Even if they did see him, human reaction time was around three seconds. HK 48's reaction time was far better. Almost immediately after arriving on the other side of the portal he teleported himself.
He made several small jumps around the area before stopping in a secluded alleyway over a mile away from the Portal Corps building.
The robot did a quick scan to make sure the area was secure before taking any further action. The highly advanced android sent a secure transmission to the team's headquarters in South America.

Essex let out a startled squeak as the room suddenly became a lot busier and more chaotic. She tumbled backwards, back against the door to the room from the portal chamber, looking around quite frantically.
At Solid's and the bots' entrance, her eyes widened.
"Solid!" she cried out. "You're here!"
With that, her thrusters kicked into overdrive, propelling her straight up. At about three and half feet tall, the childlike android often had trouble seeing her charges among a large crowd, so she usually allowed herself to hover a few feet higher in order to see better.
That done, she lifted her hand to begin her combat subroutines, when Sheldon's nanomachines suddenly surrounded her, kinetically amplifying her artificial metabolism. Essex felt her artificial breath quicken and she looked down to the inventor.
"Thank you!" she chirped gratefully, tossing her hair in a quick duck of the head.
Soon, each of Toy's bots would find themselves bolstered in a similar fashion, and Solid as well, the soldiers directly guarding against Radiator pulsed with wave after wave of restorative nanomachines.

((Jake's choosing not to get involved in this particular fight. Unless you want me to write something that describes his thinking at the time, I've got nothing. :3))
Radiator suddenly felt like a pin cushion. Almost immediately Vanguard and task force personnel swarmed in on him. His first instinct was to get out of the way, without hitting Ghost.
His jet boots roared as he did the midair equivalent of a sidestep, sliding away from the entrance and towards the exit. His crimson eyes suddenly grew larger....
The x-ray beam that shot out of his eyes was directed to the charging Rikti in front of him (Cher'Tak). He then directed his less potent neutrino bolts at Combat toy and the other rushing heroes/villains/ assorted minions.
The Vangaurd infantry would find that Radiator's armor was tough, but even it had it's limits. There were several places where the bullets had gotten through. The only thing keeping them from actually harming him was the extreme heat building up inside the suit.
Thermal Emissions, easily hot enough to melt bullets and cauterize wounds. The corruptor knew he could probably last another minute or two, but much more than that and he'd be tost. A plasma bolt from Combat Toy hit him in the shoulder and he did a mid air spin. He did a few quick aerial maneuvers, varying his altitude greatly with each one.
Ghost on the other hand saw the incoming flashbangs and smiled. While he could do without the flash and sudden deafening sounds of explosions, his suit's mask did lessen the subsequent affects of the projectiles.
He noticed the Vanguard wizards were cooking up a literal storm for him. He quickly dived to the side, rolling off hte floor and skidding to a halt a couple yards away. His rifle rose up until the sights were locked dead on the wizards.
He let loose a good burst or two before moving again. He had learned never to stay in one place for too long. As he ran he counted down in his mind from twenty.
-----------------
Scarab smiled. It was a good thing he had just retracted his blades to their sheathed position along his arms. It was like hugging a scorpion....it didn't go well for Ineffable. He immediately felt the magically imbued blades cutting into his skin.
A sick smile crossed Scarab's face. He tried to wriggle free, which in the process made the blades cut deeper and deeper into Ineffable, who by now would be in a hell of a lot of pain. Scarab wondered why the fool had been mad enough to try and bear hug the guy that sleeps with daggers under his pillow.
Ineffable, not a twitch moving across his face, continued to hug Scarab. Which was when the stalker noticed his blades were not exactly carving swaths in the brute's skin. The blades jutted into the brute, all too true, but it was almost as if something was reducing the damage. The blades merely left red pucker-like welts on the surface of the brute, which would slowly fade away.
And the whole while, Scarab's armor continued to deteriorate. How long could it hold up? If anything, Ineffable just gripped on even tighter. No part of Scarab's body was spared, the entire thing was wrapped in a killing blanket.
((Rad/Thermal? Neat. That's a pretty rare build. ))
The switch in positions wasn't a very good idea. With Radiator gaining distance from the Warmaster, even if only for a moment, the battle-hardened Vanguard personnel were give the opportunity to lay a few flashbangs into him as well. Radiator's neutrino bolts went awry more often than not, and the impervium in Vanguard's cutting-edge armor more than sufficed to protect its wearers from the rest.
Indeed, the Vanguard troops didn't suffer in any way from Stormtrooper Syndrome - they were tough, agile, and crack marksmen. Vanguard had taken a page from evil overlords and modified it for their needs: if their operatives couldn't hit a target dead-on at a minimum distance of ten meters (nominal stood at twenty-five), they weren't assigned to field duty. Simple as that - which meant every one of them was a serious threat. Radiator's estimate of a minute or two erred greatly.
To compound on this, he'd also apparently forgotten about the Adepts and their ice bolts, the ultra-sharp shards lethal as any bullet. Combined with cryogenic temperatures, his cauterizations weren't nearly as effective as usual, and many the the rounds he thought would simply melt punched through. If he didn't find cover soon, he wouldn't last twenty seconds.
Worse yet, in the air he presented an optimal target for some heavier weaponry. Two Colonels let loose their own plasma blasts at the offending villain, seeking to simply vaporize the man. However, he could consider himself lucky that's all they launched. Ghost wasn't quite so fortunate.
Debilitated by the flashbangs, his bursts went wide, and vanguard certainly wasn't idle during that time. Soldiers trained their weapons on him as well, blasting at him with one of their rifles' deadliest munitions - Willie Pete rounds.
WP, or White Phosphorous, could burn ridiculously hot if refined correctly, and in the hands of an experienced solider give one man the power to take out a tank. That meant the two or three who'd returned fire at Ghost weren't kidding around.
Even more peril came at him in the form of the Wizards. While some had switched targets, choosing to bombard Radiator with more ice, at least one had taken offense to Ghost's missed bursts and his high resistance to his fellow operatives' assault rifle bursts.
Ghost suddenly felt as if his energy had been sucked through out of him, his reserves downright halved. He felt weak and weary, a large portion of his vitality having zipped right out of his body from one moment to another.
Almost dropping his rifle for the tiniest of instants, he spied the arcane pattern on the floor: the cause of his weariness.
The Wizard had cursed him...!

"[censored] yo," Solid said in awe as he backed out of the fight and landed next to Essex. "Look at them go."
Turning to Lady Grey, Solid accessed the command link to talk to her.
"Did you guys really need us to help take down the Rikti?" he simply asked.
Cher'tak had also decided it would be wise to pull back, though that decision had nothing to do with the eye beams Radiator had fired at him as they had done such little damage as to be ignored. Rather, the Warmaster lifted up his bladerifle, sighted down the top, and fired a powerful repulsor blast at the heavily wounded radiation villain. Toy's bots joined him in this, Combat Toy cutting loose with another pair of plasma blasts while the others unleashed a fusilade of laser fire.
Archlich added to Ghost's and Radiator's woes by starting up a mystical ice storm. Blue runes suddenly grafted themselves to Ghost's armor, serving as the focal point of the storm that filled the entire room. But the Vanguard troops and allied heroes and villains need not worry about the chilling winds and snow, which went through them with no effect. Being the adept wizard that he was, Archlich was easily able to make the storm affect only his targets.

"I hope you're the one opening that up, Acid," Toy said as he dropped Small Toy, ordering the battle drone to continue on without him. "Cause if not, I'm going to have a hell of a time trying to shut it."

Scarab couldn't believe it. The brute had been able to resist the affects of the blades upon his skin. Very few people had ever been able to do that and Scarab had hated every encounter with them. That said, he knew he was in for a hell of a fight.
Luck was on his side though. Slowly the assassin tried to wiggle free of the other man's grip. He used his comparatively small stature to his advantage, lashing out with a kick to the brute's left knee. The kick hit on the side of hte knee, and on a normal person would have a good chance of breaking the knee. On Ineffable though, it would probably just hurt a lot.
Ineffable could swear he heard Scarab whispering some sort of giberish. It almost sounded as if he was chanting....
Suddenly arcane symbols appeared on the ground beneath the two warriors. At first they glowed bright blue, then portions of the symbols began to change colors. Some even alternated in seemingly random patterns.
Scarab felt his strength increasing, albeit slowly. However, the stronger he got, the more Ineffable had to fight to keep him held down.
"It is not the Rikti We must show concern over," the Lady Grey answered Solid Shot, stretching an arm out ahead of her with noble eloquence, "but threats much more potent."
"We suggest those of you with sensitive dispositions belay these for the time being." she continued, glancing at Essex for a moment from the corner of her eye, "Things are going to 'get rough around here'..."

"Technically, it's the automated launch system, but I guess you could count me as the root of all evil again." Acid's voice came across Toy's receiver in a bemused chuckle, "Besides, with Vanguard's goons covering over half the facility now, who else would it be...?"

Sheldon cursed as he raised one of his gauntlets at the offending individual (Radiator), the censors in his glasses showing clearly the rads that were pumping into the room and their source. He gripped his hand into a fist once, then popped his fingers back into an extended position, flinging a scattering of nanites at Radiation.
The nanites began their oscillations immediately, causing a strong gravitational singularity to focus on Radiation's body, compressing him and working to pin his arms and legs in place.
Ryat66, seeing what his boss saw, spun around and fired an energy blast from his chest into Radiation, a blast that would score into the offender's shoulder (possibly knocking him over or spinning him in place).
Cory heard the device talk, and arched his eyebrow at it. Perturbed by the sudden chaos, he reached toward the object in the pink android's hand, his own flickering with peculiar blue energy.
