Rikti Art Revamp: A Retcon or Not?
I'd personally call it a retcon for the 'look' - while the equipment would be upgrades.
The reason I say this is that the devs fixed the look because they were one of the most dated looking enemy groups in the game - this is kind of how they originally wanted them to look - but obviously at the time they made them; they couldn't.
The equipment though, I think has just been in response to the idea of making them more dangerous and 'new' again.
This is just my opinion though >.>

Retroactive continuity or retcon is the adding of new information to "historical" material, or deliberately changing previously established facts in a work of serial fiction. The change itself is referred to as a "retcon", and the act of writing and publishing a retcon is called "retconning". Retconning can be done either on purpose, or accidentally, wherein a break in continuity is not noticed until later and is then corrected by later writers or editors.
Retcons are common in comic books, especially those of large publishing houses such as Marvel Comics and DC Comics, because of the lengthy history of many series and the number of independent authors contributing to their development; this is the context in which the term was coined. Retconning also occurs in soap operas, movie sequels, professional wrestling, video games, radio series, series of novels, and can be done in any other type of episodic fiction. It is also used in roleplaying, when the game master feels it is needed to maintain consistency in the story or to fix significant mistakes that were missed during play.

And no, I don't think of it as a retcon.
Storywise - Some of them were trapped here, and now they've managed to reestablish contact with their homeworld (Which they've been trying to do all along).
As far as the look goes, well, the homeworld sent some new supplies (including body armor and weaponry).
It's an advancement in story. There is no retconning that I see.
Eh, I wouldn't call it a retcon. Remember that in the original traliers, all Rikti wore battle armor, not just the upper echelons. I'd say it's something they've been wanting to do since the beginning.
As for retcon, it stands for "retroactive continuity" - the adding of new information to "historical" material, or deliberately changing previously established facts in a work of serial fiction.

Interesting point there. I didn't remember the original trailers.
So if I had planned to show some battle footage from the original war, I could focus on drones/battle armor (new are close enough to the old) and probably stick with the guns (since the swords are an equipment upgrade) to give something reasonably authentic.
I know, with only a few dozen readers, I shouldn't care, but I'm a bit of a stickler for these elements.
Personally I'd prefer it if the Rikti that have been on earth for the last 3 years kept the old look.
They have been cutoff all that time and wouldn't have access to all the new gear.

Except for the supplies that the homeworld has sent through the portals that they have managed to open.

Yeah, umm, after all that's kind of what I10 is all about.
Just wanted everyone's opinion:
You've probably seen the revised look of the Rikti for I10. While this is likely rather trivial- is the I10 look effectively a "retcon" ? The gear change (the axe/gun replacing the sword) could be seen as simple equipment upgrades, but some of the other looks... less so.
Just wondering what people here thought. I've been waiting for my new CBC software to shoot a few stories flashing back to the initial war, and once this goes live, I doubt there will be any way to go back and get the "old look".
