Hm... I sent LadyK some in-character replies regarding the last City Scoop foray into here...
I'm not normally a roleplayer. For me, the game is what I use to get a visualization for what my characters look like, how certain powers work and their effect...
Apparently, this makes me a "Concept Roleplayer." I don't actually act out the scenes in-game, but I make stories for them out of it.
Now, I still care about my characters. What happens to them in the game makes me cringe sometimes ("Ow, that was a bad faceplant, Nester..."), but I also can feel really good about their successes ("Take THAT Dominatrix!").
Once, one of my character's got NO luck. I'd really messed up his Scrapper build and he would die once in every mission. I worked that into his concept, because I absolutely refused to just drop and "re-roll" him after level 20. Once I got him "respecced," I worked out the way he got fixed in his concept (An odd, all-too-real nightmare and a black-purple explosion in his hospital room). I call the story Obsidian Blight and a rough draft of it can be found somewhere here in RP-land...

Howdy folks! I know, I've only ever been in this particular forum....oh....once in all the time I've been posting to this forum, so please bear with me. I come here on assignment from the City Scoop ya see, so I need your help!
Here's the deal. I need to hear your stories. No, not your character's stories (as interesting as those are!) but rather YOUR personal stories of and about role playing! How do your role play? When? Where? How LONG have you been a role player? What exactly does it mean, to you, to role play? I'm also keenly interested in funny anecdotes about role playing!
Now please keep a few things in mind. First, I'm trying to gather together items for at least one, but hopefully a series of articles on role playing, and by "items" I mean stories, interviews, pictures, anecdotes and anything else related I come up with. Second, this being for the City Scoop, my focus is on role playing in City of Heroes / Villains (although I know many of you began RP-ing long ago in some other medium and I want to hear about that!). Third, and it probably should go without saying, please keep racy, sexy RP stories to yourself (unless they really, closely relate to my concept here). Finally, whatever stories you relate to me will be edited for clarity, content and space limitations, so please keep that in mind!
OK, you can either send me PM's or reply to this thread, or even send PM's to anyone on the Scoop staff and I'm sure they will forward that to me, or you could send it to TonyV as he and I are working on this jointly. I have found the RP aspect of this game to be rich, vibrant and integral to my enjoyment of the game, I know you do too, so help me share your POV with the wider community!
