PK's Comprehensive FF Defender Guide Rev. 1
First off, this is a great update to a great guide (long time listener, first time caller ).
And now, a question: with PFF up, my teammates get no benefit from my Dispersion Bubble and Leadership toggles, but do I? I would assume so, but I thought I'd consult with the guru.
Arc 55669 - Tales of the PPD: One Hell of a Deal (video trailer)
Arc 64511 - The Wrecking Ball
Arc 1745 - The Trouble With Trimbles
Arc 302901 - HappyCorpse

Vigilance truly lets the FFer be "always vigilant". Vigilance lets FFers be more than a buffbot, it allows them to attack freely, knowing that they will have the endurance that they need to turn the tide of the battle when things get rough.
That is the power of Vigilance.

And this is why it's poor in terms of design as it is only really useful to FF (and maybe Sonic with Repulsion). FF is the only set that has two powers that are bad situation reactions.
I don't want to be overly negative but in most common situations and with most teams, if you have applied your bubbles, team wipes are a rare occurence. So as a support toon with reaction powers, you rarely get to use them and in solo situation they are overkill.
Moreover, Force Bubble is very hard to maximize teams effectiveness, especially in the later levels with all the open maps. Repulsion Field is even harder to use. Only truly useful use I have seen for Force Bubble is forcing Lord Recluse and all his summons into a corner to maximize AOE effectiveness.

YES. PFF up just means you only affect yourself. Any powers that affect you will still affect you, they just won't affect anyone else.

My only response to this comes from the wisened pen of Jock_Tamson:

Defender spoke to her children saying, "My children, I leave you now to travel over the ocean so that you may grow without me overshadowing you. Before I go, I leave you with this: So that you know that my spirit is with you in your darkest hour, when you are exhausted and your allies near defeat, I will lend you a small part of my vigor." A grandchild of Defender stood forth and complained thus, "Great Mother, If I do my work well my allies are never anywhere near defeat! Scrapper and Controller have given their children far greater gifts, why do you give us so little?!" Defender looked sternly and answered, "You are arrogant, impudent, and ungrateful!" Then smiled and added, "Truly you are my daughter. Never change that, it shows you care about what you do. Why do I give so little? What little I give, is what little you need. I need not give much for you are MY children and you are strong!"

And as far as this goes...

I personally actually find MORE use for Force Bubble on "open maps" than I do in all those damn office buildings. Having an open map means that I can follow a good distance behind the melee toons so that they are just on the edge of the FB. Then if they run into ANY trouble, I just step forward. The enemies that are killing them are pushed away a little, saving the teammate and moving a little bit of aggro to me.
If you can say with a straight face that these powers have NO use after all the uses for them that I've shown in this guide and the follow-up posts... well then maybe playing a bubbler just isn't for you... it's not for everyone.
Sure, just change the power names to the appropriate power names from the Sonics set. It should work exactly the same.
