DarkHunters’ Chronicles – March 6, 2007

Bolt O’ Lightning (Bolt) had just reentered Brickstown from Crey’s Folly to meet up with the little speedster Sefanie. Sefanie was a dedicated, up and coming member of the DarkHunters who had teamed up with Bolt on several missions in the past. On today’s list was the Council, a dreaded villainous agency with high tech weaponry and a long history of dabbling in the occult. Bolt had been scanning the area and noticed the heavy security and unusual activity occurring in this one building and the duo decided to check it out.

It was a simple matter for Bolt to disengage the security systems allowing them precious moments to enter the facility before back-up systems came online. There was fierce resistance from the moment they entered, from high tech Marksmen to Darkwolves (werewolves) and Equinox (vampires). The two pounced on their foes, Bolt bombarding them with an electrical barrage and Sefanie blasting them with pure energy and using her power to enhance Bolt’s natural healing and resistances to their maximum potential. They easily fought their way through the base, shattering the defenders wherever they decided to make a stand.

They easily bested the base leader and were busy cleaning out the rest of the villain’s nest when Bolt was caught unawares and taken out by a werewolf and his cronies. Sefanie was unable to come to his aid but the victors foolishly threw the unconscious body outside where Bolt was retrieved and revived by Sefanie. Swearing vengeance the two immediately returned and crushed the few remaining foes as they were in the midst of toasting their short lived victory.

The day was still young and both heroes’ blood was up. Listening to the police scanner, Bolt caught a report the rascal Jukyard Dog, of the freaks, was holed up in an office complex with his gang, and the police were calling for heavy backup. Less than thirty seconds later Bolt and Sefanie were on the scene and had the law enforcement agencies seal off the area, while they went in to investigate.

The Freaks were ready and willing to brawl and Bolt and Sefanie had their hands full from the beginning. Freaks had a tendency of not knowing when to quit and while in most circumstances this led to victory for them, it just added more fuel to the fire for Bolt. He always liked scrapping with Freaks since their metal armor was conducive to his electrical powers and he made the most of this encounter. In the end the duo handed over Junkyard Dog in a crumpled heap to be hauled off to superprison, then Sefanie returned home while Bolt went to meet his wife for lunch.

Later on in the day Gordian had plans of his own. He had been scouring the area of Talos Island looking for clues in his case against Arachnos. He had finally found evidence the stolen PLOT device was in Arachnos’ possession. There was no way he could bring this evidence to a judge for a warrant. Arachnos was too imbedded into the system to be taken unawares by direct legal means and would need to be approached in a different manner altogether.

It was then that Utopian Tim called, ostensibly to see what was up. Some would call it fate, others chance, only Utopian Tim (Tim) knew otherwise. The two worked well together and Gordian was quick to jump at the chance to enlist his aid. Tim was in Faultline and would be awhile so Gordian checked on the DarkHunters’ private channel for any others nearby finding two worthies to aid him. Last Healer (Healer), a new member who has shown great promise, had felt the need for one of her caliber and came to the call. The final member of the quartet was the illustrious Sword of Legend (Sword), a great swordsman and brilliant mind who had worked closely with both Utopian Tim and Gordian on many occasions.

The four met at the locale Gordian had specified, a nondescript office building on the edge of Talos Island. Both Sword and Tim outranked Gordian but gave him the lead due to his extensive knowledge of what they were up against. After conferring they decided on a frontal assault and barreled their way into the building. Underneath its plain appearance it was a veritable fortress, with a full array of Arachnos technology to reinforce the battalion defending the building.

The four worked well together. Gordian and Tim controlled the enemies around by Gordian’s mastery of the forces of ice and storm and Tim’s ability to manipulate the minds of others. Sword dealt with his foes up close and personal while Healer was the glue that kept it all together, sealing any cracks in the group’s collective armor before it could be fully breached.

Then in a moment it all came undone. The quartet was creating chaos and mayhem in a select portion of the building when they were blindsided by security reinforcements coming from the loading docks in the back of the building. In seconds one after another they were taken in turn and defeated. The victors had no time to savor it for Gordian, using a device implanted by Paragon Authorities to revive and heal him within 15 seconds of unconsciousness, came to and used his control over light to make himself invisible before flying to safety within the building.

He quickly used another device given to him by the authorities for his many services to the city. This one allowed him to summon all his teammates to his locale at once, thus depriving the Arachnos of any of his teammates to gloat over or worse. In a minute all were up again and ready to continue. They took their time a bit after this, as the base was now fully alerted to their presence. The Arachnos’ extra vigilance did not pay off as the DarkHunters lashed into the remaining guards and recovered the PLOT device before any could flee with it.

The Arachnos threatened to pursue legal proceedings against the DarkHunters for trespass but little was made of the threat. On the contrary, the city leaders and populace as a whole applauded the timely action of the DarkHunters and put a stamp of approval on their actions as a whole. Bolt was presented with the coveted Paradigm badge to signify public thanks for mentoring so many great heroes, who have each been of such benefit to Paragon City.

DarkHunters’ Chronicles – July 15, 2007

The quartet had been traveling about Paragon for the last week, scouring the back alleys and cave complexes in their quest to weed out the infestation of Devouring Earth before they swept through the city like a plague. There most recent endeavor led them to a cave complex deep within the bowels of the Hollows. There they found the source of the evil minions of the Earth and were in the midst of cleaning out this hole of every last denizen.

In the very last crook of the cave they came upon those known only as Void Stalkers. These creatures were the bane of those called the Kheldians. Whether a War Shade or Peace Bringer, both Kheldians dreaded, and many feared, an encounter with those known as Void Stalkers, or their brothers in arms, the villains armed with Quantum Guns. In this case it was a Void Stalker, and two amongst the group, the vivacious and gorgeous Lisolette and her constant companion the enigmatic demonic Alessandro Del Piero were considered of the Kheldian race called Peace Bringers.

Lisolette was not one to look forward to an encounter with a Void Stalker or Quantum Gunner, though she was not one to ever back down from a fight, and Ganryu the newest member of the Darkhunters, recently come over from his fanatical Ninja Clan, and leader of this expedition normally relished the opportunity to smack around these so called Kheld killers. Both however stood aside and let Alessandro tackle his so-called nemesis alone.

The Void Stalker was alone, all his brethren and allies of the Devouring Earth having been dispatched by the four heroes, and the Kheld and Void locked into mortal combat. The fourth and youngest member of the team was not a Darkhunter and had joined the group in their fight against Devouring Earth looking for action and excitement had no idea what was going on but only knew she had been told to leave the Voids and Quants to the half demon with a moustache. She did as instructed until the Void hit Del Piero square in the chest with the huge gun all carried with him. The energy be washed over the mysterious hero and knocked him back into the wall momentarily stunning him.

Anarchy Princess rushed over to Ganryu who stood unmoved leaning against a rocky outcropping watching the proceedings with a disinterested gaze.

“Aren’t you going to do anything,” Anarchy Princess gasped to him. “He could die out there!”

Ganryu only shrugged. She then turned to Lisolette, who was pacing not far away, her eyes never leaving the combat raging before her. Concern was etched across her face but she did not lift a finger to help Alessandro who was just now struggling to his feet while the Void stood over him about to land a devastating blow to the head.

She frowned at Princes. “Alessandro would not take kindly to any interrupting him in an honor duel,” was all she would reply.

At that moment the Voids hands came down with his killing blow but Del Piero was not there, having sidestepped the attack and landing an energy punch of his own that sent the Void flying backwards. He followed this with a restoration boost, using his inner power to regain his composure and revitalize his beaten body and then blasted the hapless Void just as it regained his feet knocking it down once again. With a short leap Alessandro was upon the Void and raising both arms came down with a tremendous energy punch leaving the Void in a crumpled heap at his feet.

Without glancing at the others, he calmly reached his belt and pulled out a small knife. With it he made a small notch, next to dozens etched across his belt. He turned and nodded to Ganryu and smiled to the lovely Lisolette. “46.”

The four then left, Ganryu to report their findings to the Paragon Authorities, Alessandro and Lisolette to party off at a nearby club in Skyway and Anarchy Princess home to dinner, which was cooling in the microwave where her mother had left it.
