I've submitted the Big Group Pic, and if it's cool, I can send the other finished pieces I've done.

Okay I sent them 6 of my current pieces (3 color, 3 line)...

Unfortunately my LJ version isn't acceptable since I used a celebrity reference. Man I hope I make it, will keep you posted either way...

A bit of confusion here-- does this just mean you need to be the person who drew the picture you're sending in?

Or does it mean the character you're drawing has to be your original creation?

I'm assuming it just means the former, but then I'm really confused about the other people being disappointed/shocked. Um... was anybody planning on submitting someone else's work?

That's one of the ones that confuses me-- you've been making a regular practice of submitting other people's work? That doesn't make much sense to me, hence why I think I misunderstood the rule.

TA commissions a lot of artists to draw his characters for him. He was probably submitting those works. His character, but he was not the artist.

In fact, around here, it seems everyone does each others characters more than they do their own.

When I first found the Art Forum last July, I was just looking to see what the fans were doing. Little did I know it was filled with art-hoes... After seeing TA's collection, I knew immediately that I wanted to be in it, but I wanted his piece to be my White Whale!

So I started off slowly doing a few Feralkats, some Rowrs, a Juggertha here, a Roxstar there, a few Marduns, and whoever else seemed interesting to me. Lately I have taken to finishing the list I started waaaay back then after my 3 month hiatus, and whoever I meet in game that either helps me out or on these boards that I feel deserves a kind gesture. And who doesn't like free art?

I figured since I didn't have the money to ask for art I'd want from the Pros, and that ya hah, I should be doing my own pieces too... I could always fall back on drawing my toon when I'd run out of time finishing my que.

I'm happy to say I've reached my TA goal sooner than later, and will soon stop doing freebies as my wife puts it... that is unless the occasion merits it, or the person merits it, which was the only reason I kept adding to my list in the first place... Like any true altaholic, half the fun is seeing what's new out there.

Plus I figured who wants to see my toon? I wasn't doing a strip, I'm sure others would rather see their own people recreated, wouldn't you?

Trust me Derek you have a chance, in the first comic series of CoH I saw pretty sucky art.

You can submit it. If there are trademarks on those characters (which is not the case for each of our characters), but if there was, they would own it anyway and they could decide if they allow it or now.

That is how I understand it.
