[u] Voidbait’s Guide to Hamidon Bubbling [u]

So you’re one of the few 45+ bubblers on the server and they’re calling your name eh? First off, congratulations on making it to 45 as a bubbler. Not an easy task. Be proud to be one of the elite.

So you’re now in a new situation you’ve probably never been in before. It’s all right. That’s why I’m here. I’m going to walk you through the ins and outs of Hamidon raiding. It’s really easy. Let’s get started.

Ok, first things first. You need to know a little about what you’re going to be doing. You are there for two very important reasons. Reason number one being you are the guiding light. You are the person everyone will look for when they are lost. Your Dispersion Bubble will let heroes know where they should be. Secondly being that you are giving the raid their mez protection. You are there for the “healers” (I use the term loosely) to put on follow to form the “healing blanket”. This blanket is composed of numerous empaths and rads with their healing auras on auto fire. You just guide the blanket from mito to mito. There are blue colored mitos that will hold you inside of the hamidon. If you’re held then you cannot contribute. This way the empaths can be busy healing and not throwing Clear Mind on everyone they see.

All right now let’s move on to how to accomplish your goal. Again this is very easy. You don’t need any type of special build for this role at all. You just have to make sure that you have Dispersion Bubble. All you really need to do is…walk around. I’m not kidding. You are there to guide the blanket to the correct place and nothing else. Throw an epic blast on auto and chat it up in broadcast or take the time to try and get a hold on a mito. You can do whatever else you want as long as you are fulfilling you’re first duty.

Now before you begin I highly suggest you go to your options and turn down your video settings. This will decrease lag tremendously. I personally set everything on minimum and still look at the ground when I get to my destination. It gets very laggy. Do what you can to fight that.

Now the way to actually do you’re job is just as simple. You need to target the “Targeter”. This person is choosing which mito is to be taken down by the group. You are concentrating fire power to take them down as fast as possible and to prevent them from splitting. After that you need to constantly keep an eye on him. He will choose a target. This is where you come into play. You need to position yourself right under that mito but away from any “PA”. The “PA” or Phantom Army is dropped by illusionists above you to draw fire from the other mitos and not hurt the group. Less incoming fire means less overall death. The other thing you need to watch out for is the edges of your dispersion bubble. You cannot put it on the Hamidon as it tend to draw his agro if left unchecked or untaunted by the “Taunter” (Confirmed not to be true in I8. Sorry for the older information). He is there to take the beating from the actual Hamidon so it doesn’t kill the group.

So a quick overview:
1. Make sure you are 45+.
2. Make sure to have Dispersion Bubble.
3. Set your graphics way down.
4. Make sure you know the “Targeter”

The only other position you may be called in to fill is the “Taunt team” bubbler. This is a position that utilizes a team of 6 empaths, the taunter and a bubbler away from the main group to draw Hamidon’s fire. Some servers use them, others don’t. If you are called to do that job then all you have to do is sit there seeing the taunter doesn’t move while taunting. Very easy, even more boring .

It would also be very helpful to set up binds or macros to announce when you are planning to move. This lets everyone that isn't on auto follow know that they had better pay attention or they will lose their mez protection. You should set up a bind that just say "Bubble Moving" or something similar in the Request channel. This is the primary channel used by most raid leaders and the one people watch for information.

If your server is doing a flying raid be sure to talk with your fellow bubblers. This way wether in the air or on the ground you can have the mez protection as well.

You should be all set now. Go and collect all those shinny HOs. If you have any other questions you can feel free to send me a tell to @Voidbait or come see my on the Champion server as Icybubbles. I’ll be glad to show you the ropes.

Dispersion Bubble shouldn't be able to draw aggro as it doesn't affect enemies at all. If you get Hamidon aggro by skirting him with the bubble it's very likely just standard proximity aggro than the bubble. And you most certainly can't pull aggro from a taunted Hamidon as a bubbler. Now Force Bubble, that's something else. But using Force Bubble at Hamidon is silly.

Other than that it's good advice. As a bubbler you are visible, and easy to spot.

Also might I add: Coordinate with your fellow bubblers. Should your sever not use a "All raiders must Group Fly" strategy, then if there are more than one bubbler, put one in the air and one on the ground. And if there's only one, be the one on the ground, since mezzed heroes will then fall into the Dispersion Bubble and be freed.

Thank you for the information. I am changing it now. I am just using older information passed to me by a few of our raid leaders.

Good point on the comunication point to. Champion uses a mostly ground based Hami stratagy but we have tried a few flying raids. I still think you should have a ground bubble even if you're flying to have the mez protection and a few heals on the ground for the rezzers. I would go as far to say that you should keep the emp and darks on the ground and send up the rads. The damage needs the AM for recharge anyways and then you have a few heals wether you're on the ground or flying.

Some easy tricks as the bubbler:

When your targetter selects the next target, use a bind or macro (/assist) to select their target and use the follow command to run right under it.

I'd also recommend some knockback protection for those times Hamidon likes someone in the bubble. Keeps you from being thrown around and makes it easier for other raiders see where they need to reform.
