How much collected art is too much? Given that you love collecting art? That's entirely up to who you are. If you're an artwhore-redefiner, then I imagine you've got a wide berth yet to be filled.

How much expression of pride (gloating) is too much? That depends on the people who are feeling like they're getting gloated on.
There are a lot of people on this board who are frankly jealous (in an innocent way if that makes sense) of the amazing stuff people are getting. For my part, I see a great TA piece, and part of me wists on what could have been if only I had worked harder to slip in my character subject instead.
No one's doing anything wrong (TA or the artists or the enthusiasts), it's just that a build up of such subtle junkiness is just a thing every community has to live with, and it can be hard. So, you'll get some reactions like that from time to time. At least in this case it's nowhere near a full-blown frustration-fueled hate by any means.
Also tragic is that by the time these odd reactions pop up, it's usually too late to do or say anything to change their minds. But being prepared to take these reactions in stride and with respect in my experience tends to help calm down the underlying frustrations for the future, (at least when the community involved is willing to be open minded some).
It's not unfair that you have art because you've seized opportunities more strongly than others who don't have art. But still that logic doesn't help quell the instinct to be frowny on the art gap between you and them. Human nature.
Should you retreat from who you are in an attempt to appease? No. Should you emphasize respect for others when expressing who you are? Yes.
Or I suppose you could do what Lord Recluse would do and crush them all.
Frankly TA, I've never ever thought your artwhoring was a *bad* thing >.< you're very nice about it, and when you ask for work it seems to always be done in the nicest way possible. And that's just the free-bees, I have no idea about comission work - but I mean, if you *pay* for it, how can it be 'too much' if you're spending your cash ya know? >.> I mean unless YOU think it's too much <'x'>
Imho, it's only too much if its not fun for you anymore. In fact the only complaint I have is that I've never had the time to do a TA piece myself. But then I've done no Rowr pics either, and only one Feral Kat, and it wasn't so great <;_;> ... so yeah, I'm not helping much.

I don't plan on stopping anytime soon! I think Goldbricker said it best honestly. Thing is that I don't do this for pride or keeping up with the jones, it has become my hobby to collect art from all you great artists. Kinda like pokemon! Gotta have em all!
I have several 'real art' collections of characters from comic conventions. I have probably 60-70 of one tiger girl Raanatani, and about 30 of my blue guy Shard. Those cost more.
And they take up space. And they rip. Or fade. Or get catbarf on them. Or folded up the wrong way in packing. Or lost. 
I really need to start getting more comissions done through here. And trading. yeah. because I can draw.

Honestly TA you have as much right as anyone here to jump in a que for art. Ultimately it is up to the artist who he or she picks for their que. So jump in and let the artist decide.
Like Scarfy, I have a pack rat obsession with certain things *cough books* My personal sin is books. I LOVE to read. Nothing gets me more excited than going through a thrift store or a book shop and finding a good book! I haven't gotten rid of a single one. You could ask my husband but I have almost 2000 of them. They fill up an entire room (much to my husband's dismay!) They are something that gives me great joy. I can't tell you how many times I've heard my friends or my husband say "Gosh, not another one!" when I've purchased one or five books. So I say, Collect as many as you want for as long as you want, fill an entire house with TA works, if that pleases you!
I feel really bad now. I make fun of you for making requests in Free Art threads and say stuff like "Thank god we dont have to see another TA drawing" but I only say it in jest. I LOVE that you have all these sketches. Your like the CoH version of me in KoL.
I have the same rep in the Kingdom of Loathing forums as you have in the CoH forums. People will draw my toon simply because they know that I will ask either way. Look for yourself:

well it's not all free art. Like Rowr says I don't jump into every thread just for art now. I do, I have and I still will do that but alot of the art I get I pay for. It's because I am truly an admirer of art. I was wanting a sketch from Alex of TA, what did I do instead? I payed for a commission. Thats what I mean.
It's not like I am taking anything from someone when I do request art though. Like someone said, they either do or do not.
Guys bottom line. I love art, I love seeing TA and the gang drawn and I won't be stopping for a long time. I know the artists that have done work for me know this already but I love what they do with my characters. It's just sometimes It seems like I am annoying people or pissing them off. I never try to trust me. If that were the case I would just commission those artists who I think are "top notch" but I don't discriminate there either!

Maybe if you started including a sidekick or two, someone who is beloved by the masses, that would ease any negative feelings. Shucks, you can even use Ironik for that. Least I can do.

I've always seen it that freebies get thrown at individuals BY individuals who wanna make a statement of their art.
EXAMPLE: If an up and coming artist wants to get their art out there, you go to the biggest art-wh0re out there. i.e. Rowr or TA
Why? Because it's good publicity, duh XD
