Hello Zloth -

I tried sending a private message, but it didn't go through it looks like.

Love your demo work - thank you so much for the tools that you've made for us to use!

FYI - I connected to the Training Room today and got some kind of update that seems to interfere with the Demo Launcher program you created. It was working fine and when I copy the Training cohdemo files to the Production version of the Client Demos folder, the Launcher works just fine.

Let me know if you need more specifics. Thanks!

I got the update, too, but I can't repeat this. What's the error? Did you select the "Testing COH" option? If you do select that option and click the "..." button, do you go to your CoH testing directory?

Thanks for the reply Zloth -

Here is what I do:
1. Select Testing CoH from the options.
2. Browse for and select my file in my Training demos folder.
3. Click Launch Demo!

The screen pops up with the CoH logo for a while, then I get a dialog box that says:

City of Heroes has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We have created an error report that you can send to us.
Describe what you were doing when the error occurred (optional):

I did send one of these to Cryptic, but did not outline the details of what happened - I will do so now.

The link in the report tells me the following:

CityOfHeroes.mdmp - Crash Dump - MDMP File
CityOfHeroes.xml - Crash Log - XML Document
dxdiag.html - DirectX Diagnostics File - HTML Document

Maybe the problem is related to my drivers? I am way out of my league of course!

Thanks for your help!

I don't think it's the demo launcher, I think it's the demo itself. But it works on Live? Is this an old demo or one you just made? Can you open it up in Notepad and tell me what map it uses?

Hello again Zloth -

I was originally constructing demos and then went onto the Training Room (where I got the patch) to do some demo recording. When I came out - Poof! - the demos wouldn't run. I originally thought I coded something wrong in my homemade demos, so I tried running the recorded one - again, same problem.

I got suspicious, so I then tried running demos from the Demo Launcher using Production demos. They worked fine so I then copied my Training Room files to the Production folder - they worked fine too.

One quick thing though now that I remember (it may have little bearing) - before this happened, I accidentally was trying to run the Demo Launcher at the same time as I was starting to start my Training Room session. I wonder if I somehow screwed up the Launcher - I will reinstall and see if that does it.

(Just tried it - no go. I just overwrote the EXE, is there more I should do to uninstall the Launcher [and do you think it's worth it]?)

Thanks for being patient with me!
