The first number is variable X.
The second number is variable Y.
X=6
Y=1
DAY=saved

<Hopes my math is actually right. ><; >

[/ QUOTE ]
That would be correct my friend!

3x - y = 17
17 - 3 = 2(x + y)

which gives you:
3x - y = 17
2x + 2y = 14

Do your math and you get the results above.

......sorry I have a minor in math and find Calculus to be quite fun.

Haaa but it is sooo much more fun to do it in text just by logic:
-------------------------------------------------

Kidraid gulped so hard that Azuria heard him across the room. He was not scared, well not scared for himself. Whatever damage that bomb would do he would regenerate it quickly enough. It would hurt like mad but still he would walk out unhurt. No what had him worried was all the civilians looking over his shoulder. The 16y old hero had never been great at tests and this was one test he could not afford to fail.

Feverishly he tried to figure it out

" x twice y....no y is...oh wait" algebra was not his strong suit . so he tried just figuring it logically

" mmm lets see remove 3 from 17 that is 14?

ok now half of that would be 7

ok ok the total 7 !!! " He looked around proud of himself.

" Ok but what now what???"

Azuria simply looked at him with her little smile that she always had when she told him yet another artifact had just been "stolen". Like she already knew the outcome.

Kid gathered his thoughts:

" Ok the total is 7 . and I need to remove one number from the triple of the other to get 17 mmm that mean the triple has to be at leas 18? 18 divided by 3 ? that would be 6? ok if it the er.... 18 minus 6 her ... noooo 7 minus 6 is one and 18 minus one is 17!!!

I got it 6 and 1!!!

It's 6 and 1!!" When he saw Azuria's frown Kid realised that he had just yelled that last phrase.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Ok now that is how you solve a problem

none of these x and y things!

Well since it has been said many times, I do not fear writting out the answers. Here is my work all written out. I rather enjoy solving math problems. Why? I have no idea lol.

3x - y = 17 (3 times first, remove second = 17)
2x + 2y = 14 (from 17 take 3, double both numbers is equal to that)

The way I solved it was, I dont remember the name, but it's like this (I hope this formats correctly)/

(2) 3x - y = 17 that becomes 6x - 2y = 34
2x + 2y = 14 that stays as 2x + 2y = 14

From there, you add those 2 equations together. I'll write it out the long way so you can see.

(6x + 2x) + (2y - 2y) = 34 + 14

This results in:

8x = 48
x = 48 / 8
x = 6

From there, you take either of the original equations, and plug in for X.

2(6) + 2y = 14
12 + 2y = 14
2y = 14 - 12
2y = 2
y = 1

Ok, on my paper, there is only like 4 lines of work, but I skip lots of steps in my head lol. I wrote it out for everone who does not get it. So there you go, in order to difuse the bomb, you must enter the numbers 6 and 1. But in which order? DUN DUN DUN.

{Check:
3(6) - 1 = 17
2(6) + 2(1) = 14

Approved!}

I have to go to work so I cannot continue to work on the physics problem, but they would have to be pretty damn small to not be heard. I think. Ill try again when i get home. Bye!

How small can you shrink a 6ft female before you are unable to hear her speak? You need to research the length of human vocal chords, range of human hearing and the average frequency/pitch of adult speech.

[/ QUOTE ]

At 6 feet tall, we can assume Commander Inertia speaks at a vocal range averaging 200 Hz (source wikipedia). If her vocal chords are shrunken, then the pitch of her voice will increase until they leave the range of human hearing at 20kHz. This is an inverse relationship
Code:[/color]

200Hz = x in x = 0.072 inches
20000Hz 72 in

Don't worry, I'll post the question of the week at the end of the week so there's no fear of students seeing the right answers here.
