As the night shift approached, the guard on duty began checking the cells once again.
The Ziggurat was, as of now, fully defended. Turrets, Longbow Wardens at the ready, and armed guards were all over the prison, along with security cameras at every turn. Hence, Officer Jones was rather sure of himself as he walked the line of the top row of cells near the infirmary.
He knocked on each door, and the responding curse, grunt, or banging made him sure the prisoner was still there.
However, just before walking down the stairs to the second level, he knocked on the last door, with which there was no reply.
The guard was new, and therefore, didn't know anyone in the cells. He banged on the door with his nightstick, harder this time.
Nothing.
He slid across the 'peeker-plate,' as he called it, and looked in. "Hey, 14234, you in there?" he called, to which silence was the response.
He began panicking. This had happened twice before, according to stories told by the older guards in the security room. Both times, either the prisoner had escaped, or he had died respectively. He eyed the entire room, seeing nobody.
He jammed his card into the slider, beeping positively in response to motion that the door was now open.
-------------------------------------------------
A beep showed on the security monitors that the cell had been unlocked. Warden Weston looked closely at the number, before calling back to the leaving nightshift guard. "Hey... Who is in cell 3F?"
"...Oh god..." was the guard's only reply as he dashed off.
------------------------------------------------
"Hey, you okay in here?" muttered Jones as he fully opened the door.
A rustling sound from the roof was the only thing the ignorant guard heard as he neck was quickly snapped and the foot that had kicked him landed, along with a seemingly average man, with long brownish hair, silver goggles, and a red, padded suit with matching shoulder pads. He dusted himself off, and promptly took the guard's weaponry and tools.
Officer Karlson, the nightshift guard the Warden had called to, was now running up the stairs toward the cell at break-neck speed. He stopped, the cell door closed and locked. Had the security system malfunctioned?
He opened the sliding panel, and looked in. "Hey, how ya doin' in there, Anthony? You hear from any guards lately?"
There was no response, but the officer waited. "I am not moving until you respond."
"I am not responding until you identify me by my true name." came a gruff reply, which made the officer's eyes widen.
Not only was it rare for Anthony 'Raven' Marson to respond, but he only used that sentance in rare circumstances.
"...You killed him."
"Yeah. And, by the way, I also figured out how to make it look like the door was locked. Watch the light."
Suddenly, the door light beeped green, and the door itself flew open, knocking the guard backward. A shadow seemed to fly from the room, and Karlson looked up. In the room was the guard that was supposed to now be in the security room, and there was no assassin in sight. But the most disturbing thing?
The guard's clothes were gone. "[censored]..."
-------------------------------------------------
Over the radio, a hectic transmission was heard. "Red Alert! Red Alert! Prisoner 14234 is out! Repeat, The Hidden Raven has escaped! He is wearing one of our men's uniforms, and could be anywhere, you are advised to--"
Immediately, static replaced the message as a shadow flew over the prison courtyard, following a huge, black Arachnos flyer, which began it's assault on the turrets and walls of the Ziggurat. However, this time around, the pilot's found that the turrets, spotlights, transmissions and even the radar of the prison was already out.
-------------------------------------------------
In the security room of the Ziggurskey Prison, there were marks that entailed blasts of energy had been blown over the walls when the Arachnos Troops got in. On the floor was a Longbow Warden with the nametag 'Weston' on his shirt, and a very well drawn, or rather grafted, raven was burned into his chest next to it. A note sat on his head. The troops eyed each other, and the left took the note, opening it.
"A gift, shall we say, to Arachnos for getting me out of here. Even though I did all the work.
Sincerely, Hidden Raven."
-------------------------------------------------
"Hey, Hidden Raven, and I thought we were here to rescue YOU!" came the voice of Arachnos trooper Jenkins as he turned. However, there was nobody in sight. "...Raven?"
The troop walked toward his objective, finding bodies of officers and prisoners along the way. At the end, he found a readily planted explosive. On the top was yet another note. Jenkins shrugged, and picked it up. "Boom." it read, and a small piece of string attached to the bomb detached with the note.
-------------------------------------------------
"I solved your problem." Anthony said to the pilot, who grunted in return.
"Right, and yet there is no explosion. Besides, you didn't even save Jenkins!"
"Well, I did..." he muttered, "But he revealed my name to the Longbow agents he was captured by."
"Right, well you still have to set the explosive."
"...I did..." Raven chuckled, looking to his watch. "And took care of Jenkins while I was at it."
With that, the tower exploded in a bright flash, the scream of a Wolf Spider silenced quickly. "Now, you said something about a ride?"
