When the World Broke (Open RP)
Fleeing into the city the twin brothers entered a small alleyway.
"I told you, not to show off!" Darean yelled at his brother.
"Cmon' Dare, if I remember correctly your the show off." Damien replied as a strange memories flooded his skull. Shaking off the intrusive memories Damien rounded on his brother. "I almost killed you once."
"Yeah, I know. That's the strange dream we both had."
"It was so vivid though."
"Shut-up it was just a stupid a dream get back to reality."
Stepping infront of a fenced in warehouse, Darean took out his bow. With precise aiming he stuck an arrow in the below the only window, signaling their job was complete. Tommarow their payment would be under an upside down dog dish just like it always was.
"Shall we go get something to eat?" Darean asked.
"Your buying." Damien replied with a smile.
Thuel started running but quickly found out that he could not keep up, Lydens heat signature locked on, Thuel teleported to him. He landed behind a tree, he watched and waited seeing Lyden run into a crater. How would I do this, frag grenade into the crater, hopeing that it would rolldown to where Lyden is, or quite possibly was, Or wait it out? He asked himself in his head. Ill go with the AR52CCRPG (Automatic Recoiless Model # 52 Crey Combo Rifle Propelled Grenade) into the crater. He decided and pulled out his AR52CCR and the Grenade Launcher attachment, screwed the attachment onto the rifle, pulled out a frag grenade, loaded it, and took aim.
"Steady... steady... steady..." Thule whisperd to himself. "Steady... steady... aim... fire" He pulled the trigger, the fireing pin struck the greanade, wich flew out of the AR52CCRPGs barel, flying till it made contact with the rock of the crater. The grenade had a 25 second timer on it, it rolled down the crater walls, it rolled to one side, then to the other... 15seconds left, when Thuel had heard some movement.
Lyden would have no idea how long the fuse was set to go for, but it cut and dried his decision well enough- the hole was too dark to see down, and with heat vision Thule would have an advantage. It wasn't happening. He scrambled over the other side of the crater, and took off into a run again.
At this point, it was almost frustrating to admit the truth that these people had the technology to keep such close tabs on him. It fortified his theory, though.. until there was no other way to defend his own life; the life that belonged to Greensryche Industries and his master- he wouldn't attack. Getting a bit further ahead, he stopped behind a tree to wait.
((CptCommie, you mind if we take control of the pursuing soldiers? We've been waiting for them to find us a long time now. ))

"Hmmm? Clever, of him. Running." BANG! Thuel heard an explosion, his own grenade, blew up underground? Thuel ran out from behing the tree, rolled across the ground to an adjcaent tree, and kept watch on Lyden. He unloaded his gun, loaded the Assualt Rounds in, and took aim at a tree near Lyden. BANG... BANG... BANG. A three second pause between shots. "Do you surrender?" Thuel yelled to Lyden, who was behind a tree. "If you do, step out from behind the tree and hand over your ID card, that is all you WERE wanted for, until you resisted arrest, caused property damage to a Secret Police Offical, and resited arrest once again. Do you surrender, not comply will only result with a bullet in your head and a trip to the reaimater." Thuel threatend Lyden, fireing three more warning shots at the ground infront of Lyden.
After the shots went off, there was a prolonged silence.
"...Unit Lyden has no identification that had not already been presented. Furthermore, Unit Lyden has not resisted arrest.. as no option of a peaceful surrender had been previously issued."
There was a light shuffling of dirt as he moved his feet, stepping out from behind the tree- staring across at Thuel with no trace of either fear nor ill will in his eyes. He took one step forward, arms at his sides, his case still slung over his shoulder.
"...Unit Lyden surrenders."
Thuel appeard to be happy of Lydens surrender. "Lyden, is it? Well, Ill let you go for now." He let out a robotic sounding sigh. "I offerd twice for you to surrender, once in the warehouse, and once a while ago. Come here, I need to mark you." He shifted though his pockets for a neon-orange marker to innital Lydens sholder with a S.P.K.T.
Lyden blinked. That was it? It seemed to good to be true, but... his job was to live. If a marking on his suit was all that was required, that was fine. He could just recall another combat suit later, provided that aspect of the Greensryche Network still worked.
"..Affirmative." Soft crunches of underfoot leaves and twigs could be heard as Lyden calmly walked over to Thuel and stood infront of him.
"Pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Lyden." Thuel spoke calmly to Lyden. "If you ever need anything again, just tell us." With that he walked off twards the road, picking up Unit OSAD-35 on the way. "Comeon, little guy lets get back to town." OSAD beeped and began reciting numerical series again. "01000001 01110011 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01110111 01101001 01110011 01101000 00101100 00100000 01101101 01100101 01100001 01110100 01100010 01100001 01100111 00101110 00101110 00101110 01001001 00100000 01110011 01110101 01110000 01110000 01101111 01110011 01100101 00101110 " Thuel sighed and stated "Unit OSA-35, Shut down." OSAD-35 obeayed and shutdown. The two walked down the deserted country road, twards the city.
With Lydens acceptance of getting food Xey smiled and flew in a tall tree awaiting his food and pie. Xey could see it now hot apple, blueberry....,strawberry...... With those thoughts Xey Drifted to sleep and to dream pie the best pie of all.

Xey kept on sleeping and went into a trace like state unable to wake himself in his dream he fell into darkness with a tiny ray of light at the end.

a City of Heroes movie on the way?
((Yes, by all means! Sorry, I thought there was some character development going on at the moment and didnt want to interupt to horribly. I can post in an hour or two as well.))
Midas looked shocked as Essex took his hand, flinching slightly. He fought the urge to pull away, but he was terrified of the wrath of the Stone. That red lightning look like it would hurt.
"I...I...." the doctor blanked. "I don't know. I should know, but I don't. The Stone is right, I'm useless. I may as well stay behind and die, all I'll do is slow you down. My existance has no point to it, I'm a ruined man. I can't save anyone."
"Which is precisely why you need me, you pitiful wretch!" the Stone yelled. "We need me in control, not an indecisive weakling with a habit of feeling sorry for himself!"
Midas looked to the Stone, afraid. "Maybe I should...." he muttered.
"Then perhaps I could have the power to protect you." he said to Essex.
Thuel got back to town, sat down on the steps of the beaten down town center/town hall. Thuel let out a robitic sounding sigh and took out his phone and called Feliks Danya for another assignment. "Feliks, this is Senior Opperative Thuel, Im calling again for another assignment, sorry for useing an open line, nothing else was aviable..." He listend for his next assignment from Feliks Danya.
((Take it away, Cpt.Commie, please do be creative ))
Feliks had not listened to the Mages advice and continued to work into the night. Thankfully, it tended to get darker later in France this time of year. He had worked long into the night before finally passing out over his papers. The phone in his office rang. He stirred slightly, but pulled his hat over his head and tried to sleep more. In continued to ring until it woke him up. Frustrated he slammed his hand on the phone and pulled it to his ear. He didnt say anything, just letting the speaker introduce himself.
You again
alright. One moment.
Shifting through his papers on the desk he set one aside. Reading it over one more time, he spoke.
Lately the Underground his been picking up speed. I need you to round up some members and bring them to New Mu for processing and interrogation. What methods you use to take these people prisoner is not important to me
You have a week.
He answered any other questions Thuel had, then hung up. He held his head in his hands. Without warning, his door was thrown open.
Sir! We have multiple meta-humans in contact with our Civil Defense in Paragon. They teleported away, but a nearby mage was able to point us in the right direction. We need a final call however.
Meta-humans! You have weapons free. Contact whichever branch of the Army for support as you need. Capture them and have them transported to New Mu as soon as possible. They may have contact with the Underground. If thats the case, they would be a great loss to their effort.
The junior officer hung around for a few seconds, as though waiting for more direction. Feliks shouted.
What are you waiting for! Go!
The message was relayed overseas to Paragon. The commanding officer on scene listened to the message over his radio. He gave the single to his field commanders.
Move in. Take prisoners if you can.
Thuel put his phone back in his pocket and walked around the town square. "Listen up," He yelled to the townspeople "By order of the Overmagus, if you see any Underground members, turn them into the Steel Army officials here, in this city, Ill give you a hit to test your trust worthyness. There is one of there members in this croud gatherd around us." He spoke out loudly. There was a long discussion between members of the town, then Thuel pushed his way though the croud twards a man of medium hieght, dressed in a tatterd lether trenchcoat. "You kind sir, please come with me." Thuel asked the man. "I not Underground. Not hurt me?" The man asked in a thick Russian accent. Thuel pulled out his knife and put it to the mans back, ready to sever his spinal cord, in a seocnds notice. "You ARE Underground," He started shifting though his pockets to find a peice of paper, a wanted poster of sorts. "You, lets see Boris Andrei. Thats your name, so says your ID, so lets check my list of known Underground members. Here we are, Boris Andrei." Boris looked up in shock at Thuel. "How you find me?" He asked Thuel. "We have ways, now come with me, lets not make a secne." Thuel pushed the dull edge of his knife into Boris' back to make him move.
They walked down to Town Halls basement, where a Sorcer of Illusion and Control was waiting to ineterogate Boris. "Boris is it?" The Sorcer of Illusion and Control asked Thuel. "Yes dat be 'im." He replyed in a German accent, his old fully human accent. Boris put up little strugle on the way down stairs, knowing he could be kicked down at anytime. Boris was sitting down in a chair with metal restraints on it. The Sorcer of Illusion and Control went to work, while Thuel stood a few feet away talking to a Steel Army patrol via radio, about when to pick Boris up.
"Tell us all you know." The Sorcer of Illusion and Control started talking in a calm hypnotic tone. "Its safe here, there is no war, suffering, consiquences, and the like, here." Boris was stubborn, and wouldnt talk. "There is no Boris, there is only us." Boris was confused by this thought, but still didnt talk. "Boris know nothing, Boris swear." He blurted out after a few mintutes of scilence. "Boris knows alot, Boris wants to tell me, dosent he?" The Sorcer of Illusion and Control asked, keeping Boris under hypnosis. "Boris know where Underground safehouse is...Boris know who Underground Big-Man is..." The Sorcer of Illusion and Control laughed and started talking in a more sinister voice. "Thuel, he gave us the info, shoot him in the head?" Thuel responded. "No, A Steel Army patrol is picking him up tommrow morning."
((There we go, last night post, now to get some sleep!))
After eating a nice hardy meal Damien and Darean headed to their secret lair. They hadn't always been ruthless assasins but they couldn't remember doing anything else. Darean dreamed of teleporting all over the city, people cheering his name. "Cross Draw rocks, best bowman in the city, Maybe even better then...", he could never remember who the people said he might have been better then.
Damien dreamt too but his dreams were far darker. He could remember setting buildings and banks on fire. Laughing the whole time the city burned. He remembered killing, kidnapping and torturing people to his hearts content.
Both of them remembered being part of something bigger. Something that stirred respect and fear at the same time. Unfortunately for them they only remembered in this in their dreams and like all dreams..... they ended when you woke up.
"Id's now!!", a soldier said as he approached the twins, waveing his gun.
"Sure, not a problem." Darean said as he and his brother reached into their pockets. "What's this all about?"
"You'll hold your tongue's or we'll hold them for you....." the soldier was cut off as he looked at Damien's id. The soldiers stance switched in a matter of seconds from a fighting one to that of standing at attention." Sir, sorry sir." Damien let out a small chuckle, until other soldiers came into view.
"Give me back my id, soldier." Damien ordered.
"Sir, yes sir...sorry sir." said the soldier as he handed the twins back their Id's.
Two soldiers joined the first soldier and with some hushed whispers all three of them were standing at attention.
"Report status and sitaution, soldier." Damien again ordered.
"Sir we have had contacts with multiple meta-human scum. Right now we are searching this sector for possible underground resistance members." the first soldier replied.
"Well I have a feeling this will be your last time on sector securing, I see a promotion in your future soldier." Damien said with a smile.
"Really, sir."
"Yes I do, in fact soldier take my card and give it to your commanding officer." Damien said while handing the soldier their trade marked card.
"Foolish, brother very foolish." Darean whispered.
"The soldier looked at the card and glanced at Damien with a confused look in his eyes. "Sir, this card only has aggghh" the soldier said as hot cinders burned into his throat and the throat of others.
With years of honed reflexes Darean drew his bow and released a fistfull of arrows into the soldiers. Makeing quick work of the unsuspecting soldiers Darean sheathed his bow.
"Get our id's and grab the soldiers id's too." Darean told Damien "And hurry brother more soldiers will be about."
Damien smiled as he collected the id's. "Just some more dead soldiers in our secret little war.", Damien thought.
Kicking in a door accross the street Darean signalled to his brother. "Quickly maybe we can find somewhere to hide in this old warehouse."
((. . . The Underground is another name for the Resistance, right?
And I have at least PARTIAL control over the leader of said Resistance?
. . . I have to do this. Khell obviously can veto if necessary. . .))
"Sir," said a Resistance soldier, walking into the Leader's Chamber of the headquarters Kefetasura had been taken to. The room really looked like all the others. There was a simple bed, a few neatly arranged belongings and a single blue chair, and the walls were made of stone and covered with hieroglyphs. Oddly enough, it was not at all cold, though no source of heat was visible. Such was the entire base. If someone were ever to find a way in, they would have no clues at all as to who the leader even was.
"I see you have given Kefetasura a room to stay in," the Leader said before the soldier could say anything else. "Excellent."
". . .Oh," the soldier said, slightly unnerved that the Leader had known his report before he gave it. He turned to leave. . .
"Wait."
". . .Sir?" Either the soldier did not want to use the Leader's name, or simply did not know it.
The Leader turned to him, and looked at him with eyes hidden in the darkness inside his cloak. "One of our number has been captured."
". . . If I may ask. . ." the soldier said, bewildered, ". . . how on earth do you know that?"
"Oh, I can put two and two together," was the reply.
". . . With all due respect," the soldier said, "our sources tell us nothing about this. This is far more like adding two numbers you do not know and arriving at the correct answer!"
"Then so be it," the Leader returned. "That is not so hard either, if you know how."
The soldier stared at him. The blue-cloaked man did not seem to mind.
Instead he held out a piece of paper, with words cleanly printed on it, although there were no typewriters, printers or any such thing in the base. Such things could be traced, after all. . . "He is currently being held in the Town Hall basement. It would be foolish to attempt a rescue while he is held there, of course. . . the logical thing is to rescue him when he is taken away tomorrow morning."
". . . We're rescuing him? Is that. . . worth it?" the soldier muttered.
"Worth it?" the Leader said coldly. "If we are not willing to rescue one of our own simply because it is not worth it, I would wonder what exactly it is that we are fighting for."
"Now," the Leader continued, in a more pleasant tone, "take no more than four. Strike from the shadows. Focus on getting the hostage to the retrieval point, there will be guards, many of them. Furthermore, Kommandant Thule may be with them. He is a ruthless man. Be very careful, and do not let him see your face, or know anything at all about you. He will find you. . ."
The soldier really had no idea what to say now, but the Leader did not seem to care. "Speak with Animator and tell him what I have told you. He will be fully capable of concocting a strategy. . . Thank you, Pharaoh."
The soldier scurried off, having spent more time in the Leader's presence than he really wanted to.
((Don't ask how he knows. He's Moonscribe, dangit! And no, none of your characters know that!
. . . Also, no one other than him knows where his base is or who he is. NO ONE. So Boris can't have given Thule anything regarding THAT headquarters. . .
And Animator is Khell's character, so please, let's slow it down. ))
"Power or not, I hope you're ready." Acid growled as he looked in the direction of the hatch, "'Cause here they come."
A second later, a sound of thunder racked the room as the hatch blew. The soldiers hadn't bothered to pound on it - a shape charge got the job done much quicker.
"Halt in the name of the great and powerful Overmagus!" the Commander bellowed into the hatch, "You are to give yourselves up immediately! We know you have metahumans in there! Hiding metahumans is a crime against the State and punishable by death! We are authorized to use lethal force at any time! Don't even try fleeing, the area is locked down and damped! Surrender NOW!"
The soldiers didn't wait, dropping tear gas grenades through the hole in the ceiling, under which rested the ladder against the wall that formed the actual entrance.
"Get going." Acid whispered to the others, loud enough for them to hear, but quiet enough for none of the soldiers to get wise, "I've suddnely got the urge to make a scene here."
He pointed at the rear of the bunker, another ladder sitting against the wall with another hatch above it. This one sat inside the warehouse above, hidden in a pile of crates. Midas may have been depressive, but he was no fool - there was most certainly a back door...

Keegan had his back against the wall, listening to the constant bickering conversation going on in front of him only half heartedly as he contemplated what was going on with this world, was he in a different dimension some how, no the temple would have protected him, somethign had changed and now he needed to find out what.

[/ QUOTE ]
Right around the word meta humans Keegan hadmoved into action, not having enough energy or controlover his new powers to fashion a large enough blast, he did the only thign he could think of doing and yelled, "CLOSE YOUR EYES!!" It was the last thing anyone would hear before he summoned his energy into both palms and pushed off the wall, to stand in the middle of the room. Both arms swung backwards, the circles and ankh on his chest shone brightly as he brought his arms forward and clapped both hands together loudly. At the clap anyone whos eyes were not closed or shielded somehow would possibly go blind for a few seconds as a bright white light would flash from the middle of the room where Keegan stood.
While the first masked soldiers down the stairs were blinded, the rest were still fine. Weapons ready they shouted various commands at the convicts, contradicting each other. When one person would shout Get down! another would shout Stand up with you hands on your head! They swiftly moved in with heavy duty cuffs and weapons aimed at heads.
The commander stood at the top of the hatch, ordering the remaining men.
Move around the building! I want you to make sure no one gets out of here alive!
"Senior Operative Thuel," A Steel Trooper started in a dull robotic tone. "Patrols from New Mu are en ruote, they will be here within 5 hours." Thuel looked up from his work "Great." He spoke. "Prepare the town for possible attack, I think The Underground might launch a raid on the town." Thuel spoke. "Yes Kommandant, we will prepare for attacks." The Steel Trooper spoke.
((It's a ladder. ))
Acid sneered as the light almost blinded him, thorwing his hand up in front of his eyes. Still, he couln't avoid seeing spots for a few seconds.
Sheesh, you IDIOT! They weren't even all inside yet! And didn't I just tell you to GET MOVING?! What sort of moron are you?!
He almost screamd this out, but since he figured Midas would yell the exact same thing - unlike him, very vocally - within the next three seconds, Acid decided to save it.
They were dealing with professionals here. The blast goggles and gasmasks kind. A simple flash of light wasn't going to stop them for long, and with only a few of them in the flash radius, it was doubtful it would even slow them down.
[ QUOTE ]
Get down!
Stand up with your hands on your head!
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, so maybe I overestimated the opposition here.
Acid waited until they stopped coming down the ladder, and then a wall of force suddenly rushed towards the soldiers, repelling them and smashing them to the wall. If any of them were quick enough to fire, their bullets would experience the same fate.
[ QUOTE ]
Move around the building! I want you to make sure no one gets out of here alive!
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, so I definetely overestimated 'em. My bad. Yeah, please do shout out your plans for all to hear.
"Didn't I ask you guys to move?" Acid sneered at Keegan and the others as he prepared for the soldiers' next move. In a whisper, he added, "SENECA, be ready..."
((And now I'm gonna shut up and give other people a chance to react. ))

When Lyden heard the thing announce it was initiating tracking, he thought it meant under its own power- the dart was completely unexpected, and only felt as it pierced square into his back where his armor was slightly thinner. Still running, he reached around and swatted the dart off of himself like a fly.
[ QUOTE ]
"You fool!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Lyden recognised that voice. He picked up his pace, coming over the crest of a rather large crater and dropping down inside of it- glancing around behind him to see if Thuel was closing in, he noticed a small hole- the crater's blast had exposed the top of what looked like an underground cave. He now stopped and squatted overtop of it- this would be putting all his eggs in one basket. If Thuel passed him by he would be safe, if not and the cave was a dead end, he would be finished. Standing over the hole, he hesitated..
