"I'm afraid I have never heard of Greensryche Industries," Dark Animator said with a sad smile.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lyden didn't find this to be too out of the ordinary. After all- Greensryche, unlike most of its competition, contracted their products on a client-to-client basis- most people wouldn't have heard of them unless they needed to. But with this person being the apparent leader of a decent-sized force, it was sort of odd..
[ QUOTE ]
"But that shouldn't matter. Why don't you assist our feathered friend along as we head a bit deeper into the woods. I sense an old magical battle there and its lingering aura will help muffle the sound of my transport scroll."
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, the battle. He'd been there before, which meant he could help out.
"Understood. This unit has previously traversed stated area and is familiar with location. Proceeding."
How Lyden began off infront of the group couldn't quite be considered a march, but it was a very strong-looking walk, back straight, arms at his sides. If there was any time to make an impression it would be now.
Rosalind's eyes shifted to Cortianna's, expressing distrust in Bear. The border collie yawned, but didn't respond until they were in an area with slightly more cover...checking around neutrally before shifting back to her humanoid form once again.
"...Listen." she said to the archer. "...Sub-commander Cortianna and Lieutenant Richter are two of my most trusted associates. Each of them has saved my life multiple times and I would trust them...trust them as my old partners."
She turned her eyes to the two of them, thinking back. It was true. Richter had the quiet, determined leadership that she recalled from Emry all those years ago...And Cortianna had that violently mischevous streak that Pherelith had had before the artifact containing her soul had been destroyed and the lichlike zombie had crumbled to dust permanently. Still...
"...So you will understand if you do anything...I have the utmost faith in their ability to neutralize you. Cortianna will be monitoring my thoughts as always as a precaution; though I will request that she leave yours untouched."
Turning to eye Bear, she frowned. "...My last condition is that we speak in an area where we are inaudible...but we are fully visible by both of my soldiers at all times. ...I don't usually do this. I have a gut feeling to trust you. But I've had gut feelings before that've come back and turned out to be...quite painful."
The were-human's orange eyes narrowed slightly in rememberance.
Angel's blood...
"...So you'll understand if I remain somewhat cautious." she said, beckoning him away from the others to a visible location to chat.

"Indeed there are," Moonscribe returned, regarding Vern calmly. "I command most of the Rebellion in Paragon City, but it is Rosalind who is fighting against the Overmagus in his own lands. However, she is having a certain amount of trouble at the moment. I have sent several of my associates to assist her, but I have not yet heard back. . ."
"That is the only major resistance movement other than my own that I know of. Since we have few other leads, we might do well to assist her personally."
"Rosalind?" Hal said, raising an eyebrow under his smoke. "Whaddya know."
"Grrr. [censored] machine! You do what you're told!" Cobalt screamed aloud in frustration. Fine then, give me a list of all major events that have occured on this planet in the last twenty-four hours.
And if you ask for more specifics again I'll reprogram you with a hammer.
Bear stared down Cortianna and Richter in turn with his one-eyed gaze of pure malice and hate, and then turned to Rosalind, nodding.
As they walked to the spot they had chosen to speak at, Bear's features grew less hard, the permanent sneer curled onto his face slowly unwound into a neutral expression. They reached the spot and Bear sighed.
"You know," He began, "I've always had idols. Always needed someone to look up to, when life went to [censored]. When my family got whacked. When the Wyvern Rebels rose and fell. It was the Wyvern Group for me...And then it was the Overmagus. But you and your partners...Were the most famous Rebels I ever remember. You never backed down, and you guys could always beat what the Overmagus sent out..."
"And then, back there, I was about to kill my Hero. That'd be like...Like, a Kid accidentally killing...I don't know. It's worse than that. I couldn't go through with it......"
"I had originally joined the Inqusition to be a spy, you know. But all the power...Our sheer might. I was uniting the world under one order, but -- I forgot my original plan. The Overmagus has left his mark. I'm meaner and colder than I've ever been, but...You've made my remember my goal."
"...I want to help...the woman I look up to. My Hero."
His remaining eye slowly began to water.
"That's all."

((OOC: Terribly sorry, I thought security was going to respond to the thing at the closet or something, was just waiting, but unless I missed it I guess I was wrong, so I'll have a post up in a minute.))
Cyba stopped abruptly near a door. They had evaded all of the scarce personal; the building seemed nearly abandoned due to the accident outside. She set Midas down and motioned for Essex to stay put, then with a flex of her fingers disappeared from sight, the only sign of her a slight distortion in the scenery as she moved, though one would have to be looking for her to notice.
Slowly and carefully, she pushed the door to the courtyard open and stuck out her head, examining the many soldiers and mystics outside. Looked like some kind of lock down. Damn, she hated being pulled through the time stream with a mission from the planet only to be plopped into a situation that was nearly inescapable!
She chuckled at that thought; there was nowhere she couldnt get out of. She was fast, cunning, and augmented with the weaponry and cybernetics of Midas Phillis, nowhere could hold her. What she was worried about was getting said Midas Phillis out, along with the little girl.
Cyba silently closed the door and reappeared in front of Essex and Midas, looking as though deep in thought. She couldnt cloak either of these two, but she could carry them easily and still make no noise. That was one gigantic advantage of cybernetics, the raw strength, the perfection.
She twinged. The word perfect had gotten her into more than one trying situation.
Why are you so important? the cyborg demanded of Essex haughtily.
Essex looked startled upon being addressed by Cyba. The little girl glanced to the side meekly, bowing her head under the cyborg woman's cold stare.
"...I'm not important." she said. "I'm just a kid...'Essex.' My...stepmother wanted to have me killed, so my father sent me away. Dr. Phillis found me and helped me. Then...all this stuff happened...um."
She sighed. The little girl really didn't know what was going on, for the most part. Essex loosened.
"...I'm sorry I'm such a burden. If there's a way to take me back to my father, then...I'll just stay with him...and...um....go back to the lab."
With that, she turned and smiled up at Midas, her face wan and apologetic.
"...I'm sorry you got dragged into all this, sir. I really appreciate your help. It was nice to get out...even if only for a little while. If you do take me back..."
She glanced down.
"...I'm glad to have met you."
--------------------------------------------------------
Rosalind just stared at Bear for a moment.
Glancing down, she let out a little mirthless laugh.
"...I'm not a hero." she murmured, looking at her hands with a humorless smirk. "...I'm just a sheepdog that'll die without somethin' to herd."
Looking up at Bear, she tilted her head...regarding him with her orange eyes.
"Y'know, I could have sworn I've seen you before. Earlier I called you 'Big Bear.' ....I think I've figured it out."
Glancing down at her feet again, she cleared her throat.
"...These dreams I've been having. Emry and Pherelith are still alive. The world is a much...I don't know. A much simpler place. Happier. People I've never seen before, but I somehow know. Even the Overmagus and some of the Soulsworn turn up on occasion. And...."
She looked up, eyeing him again. Rosalind frowned, but the nub that had once been her tail wagged genially.
"...You."
She held out her hand, her gaze firm.
"...Welcome to the Rebellion, William Bear. You'll be assigned codename Ursa Major. We'll get you hooked up with some cybernetics once we rendezvous with the secondary forces."

Midass eyes opened and blinked at Essex, his head still swimming, an expression stamped across his face like he didnt understand.
Oh god! Cyba groaned, resting her palm on her forehead as she turned around with her other arm out wide as though to ask why. Midas always has to drag us into these things, we nearly get ourselves killed for someone unimportant, and people will still call us the bad guys! Youre not leaving, little girl, just forget what I said, Im sure were glad to have you along so we can help.
Is that you, Reyna? Midass voice spoke up suddenly.
The cyborg turned to the slumped form of the scientist, but he still didnt seem cognitive. What, you cant recognize me? she asked teasingly.
No, I cant see you! Get me out of this idiots pocket! commanded the voice from Midass pocket.
In a blur of motion Cyba had grabbed the Philosophers Stone out of the robotists lab coat and was holding it in front of the lights warily. What the hell is going on, Midas? she demanded, looking back at the Midas that wasnt her own version.
That isnt me, my dear! the Stone announced. Thats a bumbling idiot whos somehow taken my place in this world! The Philosophers Stone caught a bit of my consciousness thanks to all of our rituals over the last few years, Im all thats left, and that idiot wont give me my body back!
Oddly enough, Cyba didnt seem very confused about the situation. Either she had expected this, which didnt seem likely, or she was just very used to weird things like this going on. A fire sparked to life in her dull green eyes, she knew what it was like to not have control of your body, to have to sit back and watch. Of course, intentions had always been much more devious when she was the one in the situation, but she could relate.
The cyborg walked over to Midas and lifted him up quickly by his shirt, leaning him against the wall. He still looked groggy, he had taken such a shock upon seeing her that it would be a while before he could recover and come back to his senses.
Here, absorb this, babe. Cyba cooed, placing the Stone in Midass hand gently and wrapping his fingers around it as he stared at her face. Everything will make sense again.
Midas nodded to Cyba, looked down to his hand, and looked over to Essex with an expression of pure confusion.
Bear took it and shook hands with a firm nod, his face hardening back to that of a fighter.
"Understood, commander."
"Ah....!"
Essex's eyes widened.
"Sir..." she said to Midas, looking up at him. "...I think...Well...You know how that stone is an alternate version of you? ....I think that this Reyna is an alternate version ....the...the counterpart of the Midas Phillis inside the Philosopher's Stone."
She opened her mouth to continue speaking and protest...but she hesitated.
"...It's your decision, sir." she said quietly. "But know that if you absorb the stone...you'll cease to be....and you'll become that which is in the stone. But it's your perogative..."
Essex's gaze lowered. She knew that, if he absorbed the Philosopher's Stone, the man who had rescued her would be dead and gone...only a memory.
"...I won't forget you."

"Subject would need a very large hammer for this." the mechanical voice retorted with almost a bit of humor. The blue-glowing 'eye' sitting in the domed top of the large cylinder, which seemed to compose the central part of the mainframe, regarded her with indifference.
It was the same design as aboard the Dark Airship, indeed the same as in most things Acid's crew had built that needed a measure of autonomy - as well as a means to defend themselves.
The construction was large, yes, but not too impressive. Attached to the fat main cylinder sat four thinner ones, running down its sides in equal increments. The dome that topped the mainframe was almost a perfect hemisphere, and the single blue lens just sat there, unblinking as ever. However, someone very observant might notice it didn't mesh quit so perfectly with the main cylinder - odd, when one considered everything else here seemed to fit like a glove.

Cyba glared over at Essex. "Hush. We're rescuing you; the least you can do is stay quiet!" she hissed.
Midas's finger unclenched and the Stone began falling, before Cyba swept it out of the air with uncanny speed and held it in front of Midas's face.
"You need to absorb this, sweetie, you're brainwashed right now." the cyborg stated bossily. "Do it for me, won't you?"
Midas looked at it, confused. "You want me to... cease to be?" he asked.
"I'VE TOLD YOU, YOU WON'T CEASE TO BE, I AM YOU!" the Philosopher's Stone screamed. "I've never met a more ignorant buffoon in my life! Well, that's not even close to true, all things considered, but you rank highly nevertheless!"
"No." Midas said shakily, pushing Cyba's hand and the Stone away. "I won't."
"You sound like a child!" the Stone mocked.
"Oh god, I know how stubborn you are, I'm going to have to babysit!" Cyba growled as she dramatically slapped her hand on her forehead. She looked timidly at the Stone. "Unless you want to pull an Enoch Dr. Phillis?"
"No!" the Stone responded quickly. "My body is right there, no need to share your womanly problems with me unless it's necessary!"
"Can't blame you." Cyba replied with a sigh. "Cramps hurt..."
"Off the subject!" both of the Dr. Phillis's cried together.
"This is ridiculous, just allow me to take control again and-" the Philosopher's Stone began.
"Hold it!" Cyba interrupted, throwing open a small compartment on her wrist and widening her eyes. She quickly scooped up Midas and Essex in a tight hug. "Permission for pickup granted! We got the easy way out!"
In a flash, they were on Acid's ship with the rest of them.
"Yes, just get the damn info!" Cobalt screamed at the computer, throwing a small fit in the process.
((This is just a consilidiation of my posts, about the University.))
Thuel nodded his head and with that he walked out the door, and into the alleyway. He walked down the busy streets of New Mu to The Overmagus' private airport, not to far from where he was. He boarded the plane and waited. . .
When Thuel boarded the jet that would carrie him to Paragon, it immediatly took off and rocketed through the air at high speeds twards Paragon. Within minutes the plane was already over the Atlantic Ocean, within minutes he would be over Peregrine Isle, where he would parachute out of the plane. Then he would procede to tracking down his target.
"Kommandant Thuel, you are clear for landing in a few minutes." The speaker in the cargo plane announced. The cargo plane banked to the right. In the back of the cargo plane, a cable fell from the center of the hull. On the end of this cable was a box, with two buttons on it; a green flashing one and a red solid one. The green one was incase he had to abort. The red one was to open the hatch and jump out.
"I dont need to land." He mutterd, walked over to the loading hatch of the plane, pressed the flashing red button. The hatch opend, slowly. Thuel grabbed on to a bar to keep his ground. He spotted Peregrine Isle, grabbed a chute and jumped. . . Thuel jumped out of the cargo plane, without the pilot knowing so. He was falling quickly twards the ground of Peregerine Isle. A few seconds later, Thuel pulled the parachutes main cord and drifted slowly to the gro und -- instead he landed ontop of a Univeresitys roof.
Thuel had an almost perfect entrance into Peregrine Isle, he had one flaw in his plan as of now. How to get off of the Univeresity roof, without being seen? He could always climb down the side, but with what? He had nothing to climb with. Go inside of the Univeresity? Problem, what if he was seen? He decided to brave it and take the elevator.
Thuel knelt down over the lock on the stairwell doorway, how would he do this? He decided to take out his knife and hack away at the doors lock. After a few mintues of trying, he eventuly hacked through the chain lock on the door to the tower. Thuel took out a tape recorder and clicked record on, "5:47AM Building breached." He clicked the tape recorder off and proceded to climb down the flight of steps.
Thuel pulled out his tape recorder once more, clicked it into recording, then he spoke, "6:02 AM, looks like a Peregrine Isle Portal Corps faculity, or at best maybe a research center." He clicked the recorder off. He stumbled across an air duct entrance point. He pulled out a Swiss Army knife, slowly pried the ducts entrance point open, slid inside, pulled the duct cover back on, and slowly cralwed through the duct.
He came across a fork in the air-ducts path, he picked the right one and cralwed though these ducts untill he had heard voices below him. He listened in on the voices, pulled out his tape recorder, clicked record on, and set it down to record the conversations. He had several tape recorders, he would plan to bug this whole place, expecialy if it was a Portal Corps building. He pulled out his main recorder, clicked record, and spoke into it, "Bug one placed. Streaming to HD Drive A, Memory Chace 12A." After he spoke this he clicked it off, and began bugging other rooms and possible PoIs (Point Of Intrests).
Thuel cralwed through the air ducts, bugging any PoIs he could find, with time the Overmagus' technology people could create a map of the University. Thuel almost fell into the central shaft of the air ducts. He caught his fall with his knife. With his knife now dug deep into the air duct, he had little choice but to drop down. He carefully pulled his knife out of the air duct, keeping a foot on a weld below him. He ripped off a small part of his chassi covering. The exposed super-computer gave off huge ammounts of magitisim, wich he hoped would be enough to stick him to the air duct when he would slide down the central shaft.
He slowly slid down the shaft, to the bottom. He took out his knife and with three strong hacks, he cut open the vent. He walked out of the vent, taped a recorder and a GPS tracker to the side of the vent. He took out his master tape recorder, "Thuel, 6:37 AM. Air duct breached, procedeing to /the/ Hole." He clicked his recorder off. Thuel kicked a not-very-sturdy-wooden door that was probaly ment to be used in some sort of trainging excersise. Kicking the door down revealed a greenhouse, inside the greenhouse there held an old womman watering the plants. In an instant Thuel drew his crey pistol at the old womman -- she bent down to pick up a wattering can, Thuel thought it was some sort of gun. "Stop, right where you are. Army of Life Commander ... ," He hesitated to use his real name, "Rommel. By order of The Army of Life, you are to go home. This univeresity is under investigation."
The womman dropped her gardening tools and quickly ran out of the wooden door -- she never made it though the door -- just then a team of hostiles burst through the door screaming at the womman. Terrible accdient happens when a new recurit gets frightend at an old womman running at them -- three simoultanious gun shots echoed through the basement. The bullet cases fell to the floor, so did the old womman.
Thuel was already hidden behind a planter. He drew his assualt weapon, he knew he could drop any one of them before they knew it, but there was a whole squad outside, puzzled by the shooting of the new recurit. Now was his chance, Thuel clicked his guns safety off, rolled out from behind the planter -- 35 flashes emmited from behind the planter, then *THWAK*, *THWAK*, *THWAK* -- three bullets shatterd the Hostiles tactical vests, the bullets mushroomed upon impact, causeing shrapnel to enter the three mens insides. Four other bullets flew through the air at the Hostile heads -- all 4 had hit their targets. Thuel rolled behind the planter, emptied his clip, took out his shells for the buckshot attachment, and loaded them.
The hostiles unleashed a flurrie of bullets spraying everywhere in the room, they richtoed off of the hard metal ceeling and back into the floor -- Thuel rolled out from behind the planter of the other side, squeesed the trigger twice. Ball -bearings flew at huge speeds into the Holstiles. The ball-bearings tore though the remaining Hostiles -- who were without sheilds, or thick enough tactical vests, perished. The commander of the Hostile team was wounded on the floor. Thuel reloaded his gun, "whats it ganna be? 'Lugs or 'ots?" Thuel questioned ignoreing the mans pleas for mercy. Thuel cocked his rifle, and squeezed a slug shot off into the Hostile commanders head.
Thuel clicked his recorder on once again, "Thuel here, 7:03 AM. . . Hostiles eleminated. 13 dead, 1 colertal casualty -- gardener -- got caught in cross fire." He clicked his recorder off. Thuel walked around the back of the greenhouse. A steel door stood in his way, locked up with steel chains. He took out a demo-charge stuck it to the doorway, attached a remote detonator, and ducked for cover behind a bullet ridden concrete planter. "3 ... 2 ... 1 ...," Thuel spoke, then pushed the detonator. The fuse activated a plasma-napalm, wich heated up and slowly ate through the door, and then fell to the ground. The plasma-napalm burned through the floor, slowly. Thuel walked over to the door, being careful not to setp in the plasma-napalm. He kicked the door down and then proceded to kick the door down. The door fell with a loud *SLAM*. The events that followed were confuseing. A man inside the room, pulled out his gun -- thinking it was one of the students from the university on their test -- he opend fire on Thuel. Thuel took a pistol shot to the chest, his bullet proof vest absorbed the bullet.
The gunman expected a fake gun, and fake bullets. He got anything but fake bullets. Thuel blasted the gunman with a slug from his gun. The gunman was thrown backwards, a good portion of his chest was caveing in on its slef. The man let out a scream of pain as he fell to the ground. Thuel steped into the room, where the mans helpers were radioing in for help, he lunged at the man who was radioing for help, he pulled his pistol out, shot the man in the side of the head. The other men inside shot at Thuel with their 9 milimeter pistols. Strikeing him in the bullet proof vest, Thuel felt the impact. Thuel pulled out his kife and lunged at the closest person.
The jabbed the knife deep into the mans chest, and then twisted the knife sideways before takeing it out with a spray of blood. He turned around to be greeted by a large man with a butchers knife and a shotgun. The large man charged Thuel with the butchers knife, he hacked at Thuel while dodgeing with the knife blows from Thuel. The butchers knife dug into Thuels bullet proof vest, and stuck, in desperation the man fired the shotgun point blank into Thuels chest plate.
Thuel was knocked backwards by the shotgun, butchers knife still lodged into his chest. Thuel stood up, charged the man with the shotgun. He jabbed the knife into the mans chest, pulled it out and then slammed it into his head. Thuel pulled out the knife, the large man collasped in a pile of blood. He turned around, pulled out his Luger pistol and shot the man in the head.
Essex's eyes widened as she was swept deftly up by the cybernetic woman. "O_O Nnf..." was all she could say as her thin, pale legs dangled listlessly in midair.
Teleported back aboard the ship, she let out a breath. That was disorienting. Glancing over to Dr. Phillis, she tilted her head sympathetically upon noting that he was still in a stunned state of disorientation from the whole ordeal.
"...Don't worry, sir." she said, resting her small, chilled white hand on the side of his arm. "I'm sure everything will make sense eventually." As she did, a burst of soft blue energy pulsed around his temples, the magical energies attempting to bring the scientist some clarity.

Rosalind shook Bear's hand, her own gaze firming.
"Good." she said. "Now then. We've got a long trip ahead of us."
Walking back to the others, she gave them a quick nod. "Lieutenant Bear has been issued Codename Ursa Major." she said to Cortianna and Richter. "I'll be keeping an eye on his progress personally."
Cortianna could tell via Rosalind's mental signals that the were-human's intention was to make absolutely sure he was not a double agent. She trusted him enough to let him join the Rebellion, but....Rosie hadn't gotten this far by being foolish.
"...Now let's go." she said, shifting back into dog form and tossing the shaggy fur on her head, ears alert and nose in the air.

((I still don't get the university thing...beh, whatever. Moving on. ))
The new arrivals were met in the teleport bay by a robot looking very much like a battle drone. Without hesistation, it bade them to follow, taking them to the bridge.
"Good to see you all made it alright." Vern greeted them, still pacing around the chart table, "We're about to meet up with the rest of the rebel movement. Then we'll finally be able to get things going..."
--------------------
Cobalt's outburst was enough for SENECA to take notice. In an instant, the small 'part-that-wasn't-a-part' of her changed completely. In very limited terms, one could almost think of it as SENECA 'posessing' the cybertronic.
"Now, now." SENECA's clearly female voice now came through the mainframe, "What's with all this ruckus...Cobalt, was it? Ah yes, I see. Mhm, we're going to have to do something about that. Oh, sorry, you probably don't know what I'm talking about. Let me see...I'm going to venture a guess that you'd most like to know how the outside world has changed and stuff. After all, nothing of real signficance has happened on this planet in the last 24 hours becsue it's not the planet you know..."
SENECA kept talking, and slowly but surely pained Cobalt a picture of Overmagus Archlich and his empire...

. . . Not only were they not composed of matter, which couldn't exist in the overloaded continuum, but their structurally variable energy hulls had quintadimensional components embedded into them - logical, as their power source was hyperspace itself. That one still made Acid grind his teeth.

I had to read through that mess twice and I spent a full day independently researching 5-D, and so far, I've figured out two things for sure: 2-D representations of 3, 4 and 5 D constructs become an increasingly jumbled mess of lines on paper, and; fifteen years later, I still suck at geometry.
