Veldt by Reiq

Everybody was doing it, so I decided to give it a shot too.

After commissioning Jomaro Kindred (a.k.a. Gill Bates) some time ago, I decided to ask another great artist for a few pieces of his own. Reiq's style is widely different and while Jomaro is working on a heroic piece, I asked Reiq to take a look at the roots of the character.

You see, Veldt was originally designed as a homage character to the Bad Girls of Iron/Modern Age comics. Much like Lobo (from Lobo) or Red Monika (from Battle Chasers), she was very much a exaggeration of the whole genre. Over time, thanks to RP, the character evolved into something more realistic, but I felt it would be appropriate to have a few pieces to remind me of what the character is and what the character was.

So here goes.

The board friendly, politically correct piece.

Edit: Second link removed. Guess I have to learn to be board friendly.

the second one isn't bad but its just a tad too much but as long as Veldt loves it (which is the most important thing )

Two great pieces of work Veldt

That looks great!!

Now you guys have me curious about the second piece!!! Did Veldt do that one too? I don't see another in his gallery...

Edit: Okay, it was doing that weird "piece doesn't show up in dA gallery until days after you upload it" thing.

Yeah, that second piece is definitely what I would call "more clasically Reiq"

If he objectified men half as well as he objectified women, I'd be a happy girl

Well I agree that some guys do that im finding quite a few female artists are in a similiar boat, IE instead of drawing scantily clad top heavy girls they seem to draw feminine looking long haired scantily clad boys .

I like a happy medium of cute girls and guys but im not nearly as err hard edged as some of the friends I have or artists I enjoy

I guess the golden rule is folks draw what they find most intresting and I sometimes find it hard to fault them for that

He he, I know Berry. I'm not faulting anyone for drawing or looking at comically ginormous bewbs And Veldt got two gorgeous pieces (I want painter-fu!!! )

I meant Reiq specifically, though. Did you see how gorgeous that guy was in the piece with the...er...fembot? Outstandingly beautiful. I would SEROUSLY love to see some more guys from him

I mean, PURELY for artistic value... >_>

maybe I'll go take another peeky , I just peeked in real quick to see the pic in question oooo by the way gotta send you a link found an artist on DA that did the whole Bleach cast as dogs

Veeerrryy Hott! And the second one has some tiggle bitties!

...not a fan of "huge tracks of land", and to be honest big reason why I am not really keen on the second piece...maybe if they were more normal sized, even if big, I would like it more. as is just seems like it is playing to much to the younger pent up frustration crowd. eh...still...the line work is good and the coloring is good...just not a fan of the over all composition I suppose~

Well yes I do love it! But I guess it's what you get when you tell the artist that the concept "was in part inspired by the character Red Monika".

That being said, as healthy as she may look in that second picture, the eyes are probably her best feature. They're just amazing.

Yeah, Reiq is definitely big on the umm.... bigness of his girls. I had to -specifically- request he not make Rowr's assets so.... ginormous. :P Of course he did a good pose with her and it's just a gorgeous pic I got from him. I'd definitely be willing to commission him again once I get some more moneys.

But grats Veldt Bout time you posted it!!!! I saw the first one several weeks ago
