Attempts...

Thought I'd throw quick sketches out of "not much in particular." These are fast, and - yes, I tend to hide faces. I *know* I need to work on faces/heads and proportion...

Still, some ideas on what to concentrate on "next" to get better would help. (Aside, as mentioned, from faces... and hands/feet, come to think of it... )
Exhausted

This was more a quick layout of an idea for three SG characters, so it's *really* rough (and not really meant to have a heck of a lot of detail - but it's one I'd actually like to work on.) And yes, the faces are worse than usual
Trio

More of an idea of how one of my MMs would really like her 'bots. Yes, it's staggered. No, not supposed to be perspective. And yes... no face again

Quick small sketches trying to figure things out - comments, what to work on, etc. would help (And when I say small, these are probably 2-3x bigger on screen than they are sketched...)

various faces
Idea on how one of my characters might look "for real."

Small sketch of pushing... something. Very 80s hair... Poofy. And yes, I know she's missing her ear.

Some guy, no reference

SG-mate - yeah, the legs are undefined, really... still bad with hands/feet/etc. I'll get to those.

These are all solid starting places. I think you probably know what you need to work on (like hands, or the lack of them ), so just keep it up! Remember: you have hands yourself, so you've always got a model for them!

Draw big!!!

Always draw big!

That way when you resize smaller it looks a lot cleaner and better :P hehehe it's a neat little trick :P

But yes good work! Already on a high level (beyond me !) and if you keep it up you'll do really awesome !

Latest f

Quick attempt to sketch my first 50. Didn't realize 'til I saw the scan how... stretched and narrow it looked.

And this is the first one I've tried drawing "bigger," Rowr.

The glasses look goofy, I know. Too wide and oddball perspective...

Here's the character, but no, I wasn't looking at the image... the computer was packed up at the time (yay for 15 hour drives.)

It takes a while to get used to drawing glasses, trust me, I know... Good start though.

Not bad at all, the sketchiness has a good feel to it =D

Ok, got a "regular" size tablet so I can draw a bit bigger.

First sketch in it. Actually a friend's character from her "wild days."

I've actually pulled the cheek in a bit here... and relized it's the bottom of the far eye that's bugging me most... I need more lip work too.

Her ear needs to go further back to! It looks kinda like it was just pasted on a flat side of her head

Yeah, it's been moved around a little... Think I've been preoccupied with mouth/eyes/etc... That and I stare at it and try to figure out how to make it look like an *ear.*

Edit: Tweaked a bit, though I think I got more "up" than "back."

I think it needs to go a little more up and back still. Or at least up.

The corner of the ear, where it attatches to the head, should be slightly higher than the outside corned of the eye.

Look at your own face, and check. If you drew a line from the connecting point of the ear to the eye corner, it would have a slight angle downward.

yes, much better

Latest attempt.

Since I seem to have been drawing female heads, figured I'd go for a male body - on one of my characters.

He looks two things to me - wide, and stiff. (That and I *know* missing hands or odd looking hands, and he has no feet... I've got to work on feet.)

It's this character for reference...

Edit: Of course, just after posting, I erased everything from the neck down, not to mention shoulders and such... heh. *sigh*
