The demon leered down at the weeping girl on the floor. Angry red welts slashed across her smooth white skin. Her pathetic sobs echoed off the cold floor on which she was sprawled, amplified by the stark, bare walls of the empty room.
"Say it," the demon commanded.
"No please," the girl whimpered.
Without thought, the demon lashed out again, raising a new welt on the girl. A trickle of blood escaped, crimson drops splashing on white porcelain. The demon could see every drop, could hear the sound of the warm liquid hitting the floor as loud as if it were thunder. He could feel the agony he had brought to the girl; her pain was reflected in him tenfold, and he exulted in it. Pain was all the demon knew; it was all the demon loved.
The man whose body the demon inhabited could also feel the pain, though not as acutely. Still, the man cried out in unbearable anguish. He wanted nothing more than to protect the girl, to love her, to soothe her, to drive the demon back to the unspeakable hell from which it had come. But the man was trapped, helpless. The demon was in control.

"Say it," the demon commanded calmly.
She said it.
It wasn't enough.
