In this guide to editing Joe Chott's CoH Planner, I will only refer to those things which can be edited easily, and NOT the program itself. Nobody has a right to edit the program. Even the AT Data Files I am not sure about...But, whatever. First, you will want to locate the file in which you have saved CoH Planner, and the file called coh_planner_normal. From there, open the file AT_Data, and you will get a list of the Archetypes in a Notepad Format. Open up the one you want to edit, or you can even create a new one.
Be very careful when editing these files. A space in the wrong place is a syntax error, and will result in the CoH Planner telling you it doesn't work.
--------------------
AT_NAME I'm not sure if it is case sensative, but if you are creating a new file, better safe than sorry. After typing in AT_NAME, you will want to type the name of the Archetype exactly as you want it to appear in CoH Planner.
AT_LEVEL_SLOTS At level three, a Hero will get two slots to place in their powers. This is that number. This will list, in order, the Level and Slot Number you get. For instance, the first ten levels: 3;2,5;2,7;2,9;2
Notice that the Security Level number comes first, and is separated from the number of slots by a Semi-Colon. After writing down the Level Number semi-colon Number of Slots, write a Comma, and continue from there.
PRIMARY_SECONDARY_LISTING In this area, you will list every Primary Tree and Secondary Tree your Archetype has. Take note: the Primarys are listed in order, and separated by Semi-Colons, and are separated from the Secondarys by a single comma. If a Primary or Secondary is multiple words long, you may put a space between the words making up the name, without any Syntax error. But do not forget to use Semi-Colons and Commas
PRIMARY This is the name of the Primary Powerset that has the powers you will be editing in a second. Simply put, if you are going to edit a Primary Powerset, this is where you go to edit it. Spaces, again, are allowed.
SECONDARY The same as PRIMARY, but for Secondary Powersets. These two commands will effect the drop-down list you choose from. CoH Planner will always automatically select the first power in a secondary tree.
POW_NAME The name of the Power, specifically, you are editing.
POW_DESC This is the power Description provided in City of Heroes(tm)
POW_DETAIL This is the power Detail provided in the game - specifically, if you right-click a power and select Info, you will recieve both the Power Description and Power Detail. The Description is the long paragraph, while the Detail is, for instance, Click Minor Energy Damage, Foe -Res. In order to break the Detail over lines, use the \ key.
POW_ACC The power's Accuracy Rating. 0 is base Accuracy, or 75%. Each number after or before that, I.E. 5 or -5, will add or subtract from 75%.
POW_ACT How long the power takes to activate
POW_END How much Endurance the power takes. For toggles, add "/s" to the end of the number.
POW_DUR How long the power effects enemies. If not applicable, leave it blank.
POW_RCG How many seconds it takes the Power to recharge
POW_RNG The range of the power. IIRC, the Range of most blasts is ~75, and the range of most Melee Attacks is ~5
POW_BI Syntax is as follows: DmgType (Brawl Index) For Example: Lethal(0.75*4)
POW_DEF How much Defense the power offers. Note that CoH Planner does not take Damage-Specific defenses and put them on its Def/Res Page. To see a Power's Defense, press the Tab key until you get to the right window. MoG's Defense Number: "Scrapper(AoE(80),Melee(80),Ranged(80))" Note the AT Name followed by the Type of Defense, followed by the Number. Parenthesis are important, but leave out the Quotes.
POW_RES How much Damage Resistance a power offers. This is specific to damage types. MoG's Resistance Numbers: "Scrapper(Lethal(71),Smashing(71)," et cetera. Again, note the AT Name, Damage Type, and Resistance Number. Parenthesis are important, but leave out the quotes.
POW_MAG The magnitude of the Power, if applicable. Not sure why this is even here.
POW_ENH The Enhancements the power accepts. For a list of Enhancement Names, open up the Enhancement_Translation file, and use the written words.
LEVEL The level at which the Power becomes available for selection.
--------------------
The best way to learn the rest is to mess around with the pre-existing AT Files, and edit some of the information you know is wrong. As soon as I feel like not being lazy anymore, I am going to finish editing my Sonics and Archery Blaster Powersets with the correct Brawl Index numbers...Sometime.
...Long title, huh?
