Xavier's School for the Gifted Youngesters RPG
I really hate pointing out the obvious, but dude,
<ul type="square">[*]1) You should have posted this in the Comics section[*]2) I hope you dont do this in game because well you couldnt MAKE a more blatant copyright violation[*]3) Im not trying to jab you but dude, you REALLY should look before you leap when posting stuff[/list]
Edit: Side note: Are you planning on using D20 Mutants and Masterminds or D20 Silver Age Sentinels, or are you using Hero System? A very helpful site for running PnP gaming sessions online Check it out

Ok to counter your points,
1) no i why i shouldn't I post it here? It's a post about roleplaying, and even though it's related to comics, it's still primarily roleplaying.
2) If you even bothered to read the post, yes this is a roleplaying thing, and not in game. Maybe if you investigated the site I posted before you insulted it, you realize it's not even being done on this site.
3) Who do you think you are telling me what to post and what not to post? We needed to recruit members and I thought this seemed like a good place. If you don't like it or want to participate that's your choice.
dude he got u there what was it first amendmant or something lol
first amendment has nothing to do with it. Unlike our government (and that's questionable) freedom of speech IS NOT guaranteed on privately owned message boards. If the MODs determine that the OP is infringing on someone elses intellectual property, it is well within their rights to lock or delete this thread. And on that note
IBTL
Yet the thread which directly mentions one Marvel copywright in the title and cites several others in the OP remains up and operational. Weird. Okay.
Question: for something like a mutant academy, do you think the AT selections might become a bit repetitive, what with a limited number of original power types and some overlap between ATs?
Also, there could be some issues with mutant powers which to not lend themselves to mutancy. Most notably Archery, Assault Rifle, and Devices. May I ask how you've circumvented this potential continuity problem?
To mention yet another 'copyrighted character'... Forge(tm) was a mutant with a gift for invention. Basically, if he could imagine it, he could build it. So, he was a serious gadgeteer. His character concept would fit well with AR/Dev.
Another character that could be adapted to gadgets or assault weaponry would be Warlock(tm). As a techno-viral entity, he had the ability to become pretty much any machine he wished, or to assimilate machines for his use. Just as beast Boy could shapechange into any living being, Warlock(tm) could form or change into any device.
OK, enough troll-feeding. Run along and play, leetle trolls... whups, careful with that big rocky fist, Bubba. (ducks and runs)
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Umm I looked on the web site he posted and he Isn't using arch types hes rolling a die to see what powers you get because mutants don't choose there powers it just happens so it looks like it could be repetitive but thats a chance it seems and just look on the web site most questions asked are answered there exept why this thread hasn't been spotted by the devs yet

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it? Mostly true.
But, more importantly, fair use has everything to do with it. Copyrights are a set of specific, statute-defined rights granted over specific, statute-defined types of works. Fair use is the specific, statute-defined exception to the rule.
Limited, non-commercial uses, that don't threaten the business's legitimate business profits, are a big 3/4ths of the definition of fair use. (Marvel deceptively claims that its fans need a license agreement for any use of Marvel IP. All these "free" licenses do is trick fans into surrendering their fair use rights. You do not need a license to make fair use of any IP.)
Also, don't let the GMs' IP actions distort IP reality. As the judge has already ruled in the Marvel vs NCSoft case, not all the intellectual property rights protected by City of Heroes rules actually exist under the law. The judge in the case ruled, several months ago, that player use of Marvel trademarks as character names is non-infringing, and accordingly threw out all of Marvel's indirect trademark infringement claims. The CoH rules have yet to reflect that IP reality.
I understood very little of what you just said but works for me .It does sound like a cool idea but if I'm posting there alot one of my parent is gona kill me because of how much he's still mad at marvel.

((occ Sorry. Thought I'd put in my two cents.
((I'm afraid I'm on the side of 'Don't use the Marvel characters here.' For a couple different reasons.
((1. We are putting the CoH in the position of shutting this down just so Marvel has NO excuse to sue them. We're not being fair to the company. When they do turn this into 'Generic RP 1804', we'll get irritated and blame them, when what they are trying to do cover their legal butts.
((2. CoH is a rich world of nearly unlimited possibilities. Do we really need to pull a different company's House of Ideas into this superhero dimension. I mean, I have to admit, I think it would be fun to have Mithril Zeta meet the X-men or get pummeled by the Juggernaut, but, in my opinion, we need to expand the CoH world rather than play with someone else's characters.
((If you are interested in the 'school' idea, there are a couple different places you could go that are hooked into the CoH world. One is The New Recruits RP, which takes young heroes and helps train them. The other is the Paragon University RP. Add to their stories.))

My friend just started this RPG and we are currently looking for members. The information below explains a bit about it.
"Hello, I'm Professor Charles Xavier, welcome to my school."
In this rpg, you are not allowed to choose your mutant power. Instead, your character will be assigned a random power out of a list of 100 powers, based on a dice roll. You cannot change your power, like mutants in the comics can't change how they were born. If your power is a physical power, your origin will need to be adjusted to accomidate that change, but original origins leading up to when the character joined the school are necessary to show that the character has layers and backstory and personality. This is a very character driven game.
How the Game Works
This RPG is all about what it'd be like if Xaviers School for Gifted Youngsters actually existed and how someone would deal with finding out they are a mutant. The whole point of the game is to develop your character to their fullest, maybe ending up joining the X-Men, or the Brotherhood, or trying to persue a different kind of life all together. The school acts as a place where your character can interact with other mutants and learn to use their powers and recieve a good education. Subject classes like Math and History will feature X-Men related math and history questions to answer and recieve experience points. The science and electronics classes will also feature trivia about the science of the X-Men and the various electronics they use. The art and english sections are already explained, and students can leave comments to the artists/writers as well. But the real fun way to get experience are the fights, special events, training sessions and squad activities in the Danger Room and various other places. There will also be special Plot Events where students will have to figure out what's going on at the school.
