Please critique my new bio

Hi all!
I've just finished coming up with a "tie-in" bio for some of my characters and I wanted to get an opinion on how it looks so far. I can flesh out more details, but I want to make sure this wasn't a boring or over-done kind of thing. I was intending to use this at the bottom of each bio, kinda like what they have on the wire releases that companies send out. Since I'm not the best at coming up with names, I decided to make a "group" of heroes like the Legion of Super-Heroes from DC where their name is what they do. Anyhoo, not fishing for compliments or anything, just be nice, I'm new to this creative writing thing. Thanks in advance!

Global Initiative Rescue League

Created in 2004, the Global Initiative Rescue League was formed to put a end to the villainous methods of various global, national. and local criminal organizations focusing on hostage recovery and bomd disposal. GIRL, currently headquartered in Paragon City, RI, has been recruiting new super-heroines to join forces in an attempt to restore order to the globe following the Rikti Invasion.

GIRL's first operative, The Infernal Girl, with the help of the super-group Eternal Justice, has successfully rescued countless hostages and stopped villians from criminal organizations such as Nemesis, the Family, Hamidon and the Devouring Earth and the Rikti themselves. Infernal Girl was even honored in Paragon City with a "Hero of the City" badge from Statesman.

Two new up-and-comers in GIRL are Genie Girl and Seismic Girl. These two heroines have begun promising careers as crime-fighters and have also established a relationship with Eternal Justice to improve their skills. By training themselves to the high standards that GIRL membership requires, any of these operatives have become an indispensable force in the global fight against crime.

Is there some reason that they only accept female applicants? I mean, other than the acronym spells out girl?

Well, I made up the acronym afterwards to try to tie the characters together so that the "organization" is active whenever I'm online. (I just happen to make female characters more, too)

I probably should put something in about why they choose girls for operatives, too. But I'm not sure what would motivate the organization to do that. Anyone have a suggestion?

You said Critique, not slather on the butter, right?

My critique would be that the acronym sounds forced and the organization itself, (while one of the first I've seen to accurately describe what our jobs most often end up being) is simply "just another SG".

You know, like

1. Stop criminals.
2. Save people.
3. Restore order.
4. Do goodguy stuff.

It's hard to have flare and pizzaz without people just looking at you funny and going "man, just play the game".

I like the Taxibots, the police squad, and I saw an all magic group out there that had a cool story for their SG. But then I'm one of the few that's drawn to the "true concept" SG idea rather than the "will anyone PL me" or "what kind of free benis do I get" SGs.

The first SG I started was entirely concept oriented. You had to get your powers a certain way, had to have a certain description, blah blah blah.

We invited 1 person outside of the four friends that I play with to join because everyone else was like, "what? restrictions on who can join an SG? NOBODY does that." I was like, "yeah, that's what makes us Unique".

Unique = not many people interested in joining. I figure once I hit 50 or actually get a webpage up for one of my SGs, I'll actively recruit again.

At the same time, maybe mundane isn't good either. I'd look for a subtle mix of both fo ryou.

I understand what you're saying about the acronym, I'm still not sure I'm set on it anyway. (I can be a little corny/old-school comicy at times, kinda like SHIELD and AIM and all those old groups Marvel came up with.)

Also, I wanted to make it clear that this is just for my characters. I'm not making an SG or anything like that, I just wanted some way for some of my characters to "be in the same world". Does that make sense? I've always been a fan of continuity in comics and I was trying to come up with a good basis for where I can lead my characters in their individual stories. (I've had some free time at work lately, and since they won't let me play on company time, I figured I could pretend. )

How about women only being chosen because the organization was founded by an ultra-feminist that wanted to prove that women are just as good as men. I think that would be a simple solution that doesn't seem contrived.

I'm definate old school I thought it was pretty stright foward and didn't really read anything into it. Simple to the point and fun. And thats what I'm all about. You can use the idea of ultra fem, but really I think it just fine how it is. always remember you can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time. Just have fun, and Remember to Be A Hero!
