HotSalsa
It sounds quite dumb.
If you're going for a comedic parody hero (such as The Tick, or Freakazoid), it fits, but if you're aiming for a serious hero.. ah ah..
It seems to me to be a little outlandish that the Clockwork would go to such lengths to snub out the kidnapping of her parents. I don't recall them ever creating human looking robots, or them using any kind of food or poison to kill people.
That said, even if you came up with a feasible way for someone to try and poison your character as she was, it's not all that believable that she'd suddenly gain super powers from and have her physical appearance changed.
I'd hit the drawing board again, if you were seriously interested in roleplaying that character. It had the beginning of a good foundation up until you introduced the date.
Also, most serious roleplayers, I would say, tend to have a name that isn't contorted in a way to fit. I'm assuming 'Hot Salsa' was taken. Simply get more creative! That's what roleplaying is about! Have fun with it. I'd reworked the backstory and come up with more clever name. I'll even offer to help you if you want.

This is my level 17 character's description - HotSalsa on Justice (AR/DEV Science Blaster)
Does this sound okay or dumb?
Julie was the smartest girl in PIT (Paragon Institute of Technology) and the envy of all the other students. Both her parents were professors in the school. She received several awards for her intelligence and gift for invention. She was working on devices that would finally track the Clockwork, who are thought to be responsible for her parent's 'shocking' disappearance. A boy at school was acting fond of her and pretended to like her. Little did she know he was a Clockwork operative! During a dinner date, he poisoned her food with a special kind of super hot, green jalapeno, salsa, but she didn't die or get sick. Instead her skin turned an odd shade of green and she gained super athletic abilities. This is how the Legendary HotSalsa was born, desperately searching for her parents and battling Clockwork wherever they can be found ...
