The Backstreet Brawler swung his mighty fist with all his might, knocking down the triple-reinforced steel door of Recluse's hideout.
"Everyone attack NOW!" Backstreet Brawler yelled to the huge group of Heroes behind him. Sister Psyche lead the group of approximately 400 Heroes into the base, hordes of Minions, Lieutenants, and Bosses meeting the Heroes head-on, the battle so intense that the base itself was destroyed as the Heroes slowly advanced into the base.
Lord Recluse looked on from his chamber, the body of the once great leaders of the Circle of Thorns and the 5th Column lying dead behind him.
"They took the bait." Lord Recluse chuckled to himself. "They rush in with such vengence in their eyes." He turned to the bodies of the leaders. "But I must thank the both of you, for giving me the tools necessary to secure my victory on this day." He looked over his new armor and his new sword that he held in his hand. His chuckle became outright maniacal laughter.

"Sister Psyche, come look at this!" A female Hero motioned for Sister Psyche, and as she came into the small room in the base that the female Hero was in, Sister Psyche gasped slightly as she saw the body of Dr. Vahzilok on the ground, dead.
"The body of the Clockwork King is in another room." Backalley Brawler decalred as he came in the room with the Sister Psyche. "Lord Recluse doesn't like competition, I guess. We have to stop that monster." He put his hand on Sister Psyche's shoulder. "We owe him that much, at the very least."
Sister Psyche looked at Back Alley Brawler, a tear forming in her eye. She then nodded. "Let's go."
After several hours of fighting through thousands of minions, and finding the bodies of the rest of the leaders of the Villain factions in Paragon City, the Team finally came onto Lord Recluses' chamber door.
"THIS IS IT!" Back Alley Brawler yelled as he punched the door down. Inside, Lord Recluse stood in his large chamber, smiling as Back Alley Brawler and Sister Psyche began to charge him with rage in their eyes.
"Upset, are we?" He mused, and with inhuman ease he punched Backstreet Brawler in the face, knocking him out, and fired an energy blast from his palm, sending Sister Psyche flying back into the rest of the Heroes that were now pouring into the room.
"Time to go!" Lord Recluse laughed, flying through the roof and out of his base. With a smile, he pulled out a remote-control type device and pressed the single button on it. The nuclear war head he had buried under this particular base exploded, along with the rest of the base.
Lord Recluse smiled as the blast enveloped the entire landscape, while he remained protected by the powerful armor he had gained from the 5th Column leader.
"What's this?" He asked, looking down as the dust finally cleared. In the rubble, Sister Psyche, the Back Alley Brawler, Positron, Synapse, Ms. Liberty remained unharmed, protected by Sister Psyche's shielding.
"Well, if I can't kill you the that way..." Lord Recluse drew his new sword. "I'll just have to kill you the old-fashioned way."
The five Heroes charged Lord Recluse, but with a swipe of the magical sword in Lord Recluse's hand, taken from the Circle of Thorns leader, Synapse was cut in two.
"Synapse!" Sister Psyche cried as Lord Recluse fired an energy beam from his palm to destroy the two halve of Synapse. Smiling, he charged Positron, who tried to nail Lord Recluse in the head. Lord Recluse dodged this, and impaled his sword into Positron. Positron, with his last strength, knocked the blade out of his body and Lord Recluse's hands, as the blade went careening into the horizon, Positron fell over, dead.
Ms. Libery used this oppurtunity to charge Lord Recluse, hitting him squarely in the head, knocking him back into Sister Psyche, who used her Force Bolt to knock him into the air, where Back Alley Brawler grabbed him and did a mid-air pile-drive with Lord-Recluses' upside-down body straight into the ground. Lord Recluse recovered, angry, and as Ms. Liberty began to charge, Sister Psyche noticed something.
"Ms. Liberty, watch out!" She yelled. But it was too late. The blade, which had the mystical power to return to the hands of evil, had flying back to Lord Recluse, and had found an obstacle in it's path: Ms. Liberty.
"NOOOO!" Back Alley cried as the blade went into Ms. Liberty's back and came out her chest, continuing to fly until it was back in Lord Recluse's grasp. Smiling, Lord Recluse swung at Back Alley Brawler's neck, attempting a decapitation. Luckily, Back Alley Brawler moved his head away just in time, but his right hand arm wasn't so quick.
"You MONSTER!" Sister Psyche yelled, charging Lord Recluse. Lord Recluse, with a deft swing, ended the psychic's life.
"It... won't end... with me..." Back Alley Brawler was struggling with conciousness as his wound bled. Lord Recluse looked down on him, savoring his victory.
"You know, that's exactly what he said before I killed him." Lord Recluse smiled, and swung for one last.

As Lord Recluse flew away, a young Female Hero, Chance, who had witnessed these events as she lay in her Personal Force Field, struggling to remain concious, now cried.
"Statesman..." She remembered the face of the fallen Hero just before she passed out.

Three Years later...

"We don't have the money to pay this month... please give us some more time!" The man said as he held his daughter close to him. His bathroom-sized apartment, now in shambles as the Revenue Collectors of Recluse had searched it for hidden stashes of currency, overlooked the dark, dirty streets of Recluse City and the equally dark sky above it.
"This is the second time you have failed to contribute to Recluse's Society." The Revenue Collector said, pulling out a pistol. "Under Article 1, Section 13 of the Recluse Revenue Agenda, I hereby sentence you to death."
Just before he pulled the trigger, the Revenue Collector's hand holding the gun was shot off by an energy blast.
"AAH!" The Collector screamed as a flash appeared to come next to him and pummel him, knocking him out. The man, bewildered, looked and saw what appeared to be...
"It can't be..." He said, looking at the group of 2 adolescent young men and 2 adolescent girls in brightly colored costumes. "I thought Recluse killed all of you Heroes..."
The man who had knocked out the officer (now out of Super Speed Mode) extended his hand to the man, a sad look on the Heroes face.
"Not ALL of us..." The Hero said.

The Pain of Team Legacy: The New Recruit

Hope smiled as she played lightly with her friends. Most of the children were younger than her, but in a place like Recluse City, you are always thankful for the small amounts of companionship you can find.
Hope had been in the Orphanage for the last three years. Before then, she had been a very normal child, growing up in Paragon City and reading in the newspapers all about the amazing feats of Statesman and the Freedom Phalanx. Unfortunately, that all ended just before the War of New Era, when all of the Heroes fought against the forces of Lord Recluse, the only Villain Organization left in the world. For one year, Hope's life was diminished to running from city to city, trying to survive the war. In the end, her parents were killed and she was assigned to an Orphanage back in Paragon City, which was now named "Recluse City", and was a historical landmark as the place where the "Great Lord Recluse" began his empire. Of course, now Lord Recluse was overseeing his troops in the front. The war wasn't over, of course. Lord Recluse had simply conquered the United States, which was now named "The Empire of SPIDER". The rest of his troops were overrunning the remainder of the world, and facing little resistance. But Hope didn't know or care about that. She had reluctantly learned to adapt to her new home, and even adapt to her new life, and the only thing that saved her sanity were the friendships that she made with the other orphans. Most of them were like her, children who lost her parents in the War, but some of them were handed over to the new Government because parents couldn't afford to maintain a child with the stiff monthly "tax" that Revenue Collectors billed for living in the "Empire". Some families had escaped during the War. Many had not. Hope sighed and her thoughts returned to present day situations. She looked around the "playground" that the orphanage had. It was no more than a broken-glass filled sandlot with one rusty swing in the corner. The Orphanage itself was no luxury either, and vermin and disease were commonplace. As much as Recluse City was "historical", Recluse held a special hatred for it at the same time, so the city received by far the lowest funding in the entire Empire.
"Owwww!" One of the children cried, grabbing his foot. His shoes had ripped and his foot had been cut on a piece of broken glass.
"Nurse Hope! Nurse Hope!" The other children cried, running over to Hope. Hope smiled at her nickname. This wasn't the first time one of the children had been injured, and she had taken it upon herself, as the oldest child in the orphanage, to learn what little she could about medicine and first-aid to be an unofficial "Nurse" at the Orphanage. The "real" Nurse at the Orphanage knew even less than she did, so the "real" Nurse usually let Hope do her job for her while getting paid for Hope's work. She even gave hope the Orphanage's First-Aid Kit.
Hope looked at the wound. "It'll be alright." She smiled, taking out her Kit. "Let me see the wound."
"Ow! It hurts!" The boy cried in pain, but obeyed Hope. Hope looked at the wound; luckily, it was just a cut.
"OK, this is going to hurt for just a second, OK?" Hope said gently, about to spray some antiseptic. All of a sudden, she had a feeling, a feeling she never had before. As if in a trance, she grabbed the foot and concentrated her mind on the wound. As she did so, the wound closed itself and the skin healed over the wound with a glow of green light. Hope opened her eyes and looked at the now-perfect foot. She didn't know what just happened.
The owner of the Orphanage, however, saw this and immediately got on the phone. "Recluse Internal Security? We've got a problem..."

"We've got one!" Luck said happily, giggling as she pointed at the screen.
Luck was wearing a red tank top with red leather pants and red leather boots. She had on red satin gloves and had a slightly torn red cape. Her long black hair bounced up and down as she jumped in joy, and her eyes contained great joy behind her small red mask.
"We don't have alot of time, Luck! Where is it?" Gabriel asked, looking over the monitor.
Gabriel was wearing a skin-tight blue shirt with long blue pants and blue metal boots, his outfit complete with metal gloves. His short, curly brown hair stood still as he moved in a hurry, but he had on no mask to cover the concern in his eyes.
"It looks like the Orphanage! Alright! Let's go get those Recluse bastards!" Faith yelled, pumping her fist in the air.
Faith was wearing a yellow flowing satin top, as well as a satin yellow bottom that was thin enough for anyone to see through to her yellow two-piece bikini underneath. She also wore yellow stiletto boots and long, leather gloves. Her long blonde hair flowed around her face as she looked her teammates eagerly.
"And we have to save the new Hero as well, right Faith?" Michael asked, smiling as he put a hand on Faith's shoulder.
Michael's entire body was covered in his green metal super suit, from his neck down to his toes. He smiled as his short, straight black hair and sharp eyes disappeared as he put on his green battle helmet.

For the next few hours, Hope went thought her usual daily routine as if in a daze. She kept on thinking about what had happened earlier, and tried to understand just HOW she could have healed her friend. She was still thinking this as the owner of the orphanage announced that everyone would be going to bed earlier today. He didn't give a reason. All of the orphans shared on BIG bedroom that was stacked with bunkbeds. The bare wood floor creaked heavily as Hope went to every orphan's bed and made sure they were okay as she did every night. She felt very responsible as the oldest one in the orphanage. However, this time she heard the owner open the front door of the orphanage. She peeked out the bedroom and down the hall of the orphanage... and her blood ran cold.
"Is the child here?" One of the Recluse Exterminators asked, his sword glistening in the small amount of light. Even though it was night, and even though she could hardly see down the hall, the conversation was clear as a bell to Hope.
"Yes, I had her put to bed early. So..." The owner smiled. "Do I get a reward?"
The Recluse Exterminators looked at him. There were 5 altogether, all armed with swords, letting Hope know that this meant they were Recluse Exterminator Swords (there are several different Exterminator types, all identifiable by the weapon they wield).
"Yes, you do deserve a reward." The Exterminator said coldly, and Hope heard the unmistakable swipe of a sword, and then a choking sound. "For not telling us about this SOONER." In the dim light, Hope could make out the owner's head fall off of his body and onto the barewood floor.
"Oh my God..." Hope whispered, and the Exterminators turned to her.
"Who's there?" The Exterminators demanded, running toward Hope. Hope quickly ran back into the bedroom, and immediately yelled and hollered.
"EVERYONE GET UP!!! RUN, RECLUSE IS HERE!" She yelled, and immediately every child began running around and screaming. Thinking that it would take time to find her through all the children, Hope headed for the fire exit of the orphanage. Looking back, however, Hope saw a horrible, unforgettable sight.
The Exterminators were swinging their swords, swiping through the children with ease. The children began shout and cry as they realized their friends were being killed right before their eyes. Hope herself saw a head fly off in one direction, and another orphan screamed in pain as her left arm was cut off. With another swipe, the girl ceased screaming.
"EVERYONE, FOLLOW ME!!!" Hope yelled desperately, and immediately she helped the closest 6 orphans escape throught the fire exit, Hope following the Orphans onto the street as the Exterminators, now finished with everyone in the orphanage, turned to Hope.
"She is the one! Get her!" The Exterminators yelled, pointing their blood-drenched swords at Hope. Hope ran quickly, but the Exterminators were much faster than she was. Falling down onto the dirt, the Exterminators were upon her.
One of the Exterminators raised his sword, but just then...
"Don't hurt Nurse Hope!" One of the remaining orphans yelled, jumping on top of Hope. The others followed suit.
"No... DON'T!" Hope yelled in utter terror, but the orphans just didn't understand...
One by one, the Exterminators lifted each orphan off Hope's body and killed them, then grabbed another orphan. Eventually, all six were dead.
"You're friends can't help you now, so DIE!" The Exterminator closest to her said wickedly, but just as he raised his sword his body was engulfed in a blast of energy.
"What?!" The other four Exterminators looked in the direction of the blast, and the one closest to the dead Exterminator was greeted with a green metal fist that went right through his skull, killing him.
"HAAAA!" Gabriel yelled in anger, kicking another Exterminator in the stomach, felling him. He then used his leg while the Exterminator was on the ground to snap the Exterminator's neck, killing him.
"You are truly monsters." Luck said, and with that she concentrated. One of the Exterminators held his head in pain, and soon his brain functions stopped altogether, and he fell dead.
"Why you sons of-" The last Exterminator began, but Luck fired another blast of energy and the Exterminator was engulfed in the energy, and died.
Hope looked at the Heroes. "I... I thought..." Her mind floated back to the picture of Statesman she saw in her local newspaper all those years ago. "...you were dead..." She then fainted.

"Hey, Hope!" One of the orphans called out to her. Hope watched them play in the orphanage, and then...
"Hope! Nurse Hope!" The children screamed, the Exterminators slicing them to pieces. The Exterminators turned to her, but then the Heroes showed up and promptly killed them.
"Hope! Nurse Hope!" The children said, and Hope turned to see them as angels. "Live on, Hope! We died so that you could live! Please, live on!" The orphans said, flying up to heaven. "Live on, Hope! Hope..."

"Hope? Are you awake?" Faith asked, rubbing on Hope's arm. Hope groaned and got up, looking around her new surroundings.
Hope was in some type of underground area, as she could tell with all of the rocks around. However, the area also had several VERY modern computers that seemed to be watching several areas of the Empire. Looking around the dimly lit cavern, she saw the four Heroes that had saved her.
"Are you OK?" The one in blue asked, stepping forward.
"Who... are you?" Hope asked, looking at each of the Heroes.
"Probably the last Heroes left in the world." The one in green sighed, then stepped forward. "You're lucky, Recluse's goons would've-"
"How can you say that!" Hope lashed out, tears forming in her eyes. "I lost... EVERYONE! They DIED because of me!" She yelled, then began to sob. Luck began to step forward, but Gabriel stopped her with a wave of his hand.
"Look..." Faith said, putting her hand on Hope's shoulder. "I know how you feel..."
"No you don't!" Hope yelled, knocking away Faith's hand. "You have no idea how it feels to lose EVERYTHING! You DON'T know how I feel!" Hope continued to cry.
"Yes, I do..." Faith sighed, stepping back. "We ALL do." Hope looked up, and the others nodded.
"Look, I know you're friends wouldn't want their sacrifices to be in vain." Faith said, moving back towards Hope again. "Look, I know you're still in mourning, but we're the last ones to stand against Lord Recluse. If you really want to honor their memory, help bring back the life Recluse took from them." Tears formed in Faith's eyes, surprising Hope. "The life he took from ALL of us."
"Let's leave her alone for awhile." Gabriel said, gesturing towards the door. "Hope, you can help our cause, and you know it."
Hope looked up with her tear-streaked face at Gabriel, remembering what she did at the Orphanage. "That's why..." She began, then her voice trailed off.
"That's why." Gabriel confirmed, and the others walked to the door on the wall of the room they were in. "I'm not asking you to make a choice right now. Just please, think it over." Gabriel added softly. "Please." Then Michael and Luck left. Faith, raising herself from near Hope, wiped away her tears and then left the room. Gabriel followed, closing the door behind him.
Hope was only in the room for half an hour, but to her it felt like an eternity. She thought of the other orphans, her friends, her power...
"Live on, Hope." She remembered her dream.
"Nurse Hope! Nurse Hope!" She remembered her nickname and smiled through her tears.
"Nurse Hope..." She laughed softly to herself. Sighing, she got up. "I can never repay what you did for me." Hope sighed, wiping at her tear-soaked face. "But I can make damn sure that what you did helps out thousands of others."
She opened the door, and the other Heroes wheeled about in their chairs. They were sitting around a large, round table that had a hologram machine in the center; apparently this was a conference room.
They looked at Hope. Hope, after just looking at them for awhile, finally nodded.
"Alright!" Luck said with glee, jumping up and down. "It's so great to have you on the team, Hope!" She leapt out of her seat and hugged Hope. Hope blushed slightly.
"I... uh..." Faith got up, a box in her hands. She handed it to Hope. "I kind of make all the costumes around here, so..." She blushed as Hope opened the box. "I hope you like it."
Hope opened the box and looked at the outfit inside. Smiling, she quickly went back into the other room, stripped off her dirty clothes, and tried her costume on.
Emerging from the room again, Hope blushed slightly as the others saw her in her outfit.
She was wearing a dark purple leather jacket over a light purple tank top. Her tight, purple shorts went down to just above her knees, and matched her purple boots and purple gloves. Her long, brown hair flowed around her small, purple mask that only covered her soft eyes as she stood in front of her new teammates.
Gabriel rose up, smiling as he extended his had towards Hope. "Welcome to Team Legacy, Hope."

The Pain of Team Legacy: Team Recluse

Death Blade concentrated for only a moment... and then:
"Hyaah!" She shouted, and in the next instant all 25 targets were sliced. In the very next instant, those same targets exploded as Death Blade landed, her sword, still brimming with odd red energy, slung over her shoulder as she looked back at her work; the same angry, hateful expression that her face held since any of her teammates could remember still residing on her face.
"My, you've increased the amount of targets yet again, Death Blade." Kill Shot mused as he stepped into the Training Room, his Assault Rifle slung over his shoulder. "Lord Recluse is already more than pleased with your performance in the field, you know. Yet you're still in here 8 hours a day, every day." Kill Shot smiled to himself as he set up his own training program in another section of the large, metal-plated room. "Why not take a day or two off?"
Death Blade spat on the floor, sheathing her mystic sword and turning her expression to Kill Shot. "I could care less about what Lord Recluse thinks of me." She marched to the door of the room. "One cannot gain more power if one does not train, isn't that right Kill Shot?" She said coldly, and with that she abrubtly left the room, slamming the door behind her.
As Death Blade walked down one of the many corridors in this Base, her black leather trenchcoat flapped leisurely as steam from the pipes lining the corridor periodically released gas; this base WAS underground, after all. Underneath her black trenchcoat, one could see her black tank top provided no protection to her abdomen area, which was bare above her skin-tight black pants. Her black stiletto boots clicked on the concrete floor of the base as she adjusted her black finger-less gloves, then adjusting her crimson hair, the steam coming in from the pipes slightly blowing the hair at the base of her ponytail, which caused it to blow over her hardened face, the same angry, hateful expression on it. She then checked her sheath that held her Katana, making sure that it wasn't damaged, and then placed it back at her side as she opened the door at the end of the corridor to the main conference room of the Base.
"Going with the way of the Lord, eh Death Blade?" Ghost asked, smiling at Death Blade as she entered. Death Blade grunted and looked him over.
Ghost was dressed in his usual black shirt, black pants and black trenchcoat as he kneeled on the conference table, praying as he did every morning. Death Blade noted the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim religious symbols as she passed him, engraved in white on the back of his trenchcoat in a triangular design. His white boots were at a perfect 90 degree angle with the floor as he prayed, and she noticed the 3 religious symbols, in necklace form, in his white-gloved hands as he prayed on the conference table. She was alway surprised to see such a handsome man, with his short, wavy black hair and gorgeous face, to be so religious, but she quickly dismissed such notions as a detour to her true objective: Lord Recluse.
"Morning, Death Blade." Noid said as he entered the main conference room, coming from his own private quarters.
Noid's mechanical body would startle most people, but despite the fact that he was an android, Noid displayed very human qualities. Not surprising, considering that he was the prototype for an entire line of androids that was originally created by Crey Industries. Of course, Crey Industries Headquarters was destroyed by Lord Recluse, and the company liqidated when Lord Recluse became Emperor. As it was, Noid had a silver, metallic body, limbs, and face that did nothing to disguise the fact that he was an android, and Noid preferred it this way. Noid tapped a girl who was sleeping on the floor of the conference room, however.
"Wake up, Wildra, it's morning." Noid said as he continued on his way. Wildra woke up and stretched out her arms and legs in opposite directions, stretching her body as a cat would.
And for all intents and purposes, Wildra did act like an animal, though she was clearly human. As Wildra uncurled, her attire (or lack of) was clear to everyone around her. She wore no footwear, no gloves, and had only a tiger-striped two piece bikini to cover her. Her long, blonde hair was quite matted at the moment, but her eyes were the most interesting: they resembled not a human's eyes, but that of a cat or a tiger; one of the very few PHYSICAL attributes she shared with the animals she loved. Wildra got up and immediately took her seat at the conference table.
"What is it this time?" Wildra yawned, looking around the table. Not everyone was seated yet.
Kill Shot finished his training and headed toward the conference room. His red and silver armored suit slightly shone, even in the dingy corridor, and his red and silver metal boots clanged loudly on the concrete floor. His red-gloved hands adjusted the Assault Rifle on his shoulder as he opened the door to the conference room, his face (as always) behind a red and silver mask that only had ventilation ducts at it's sides.
"So, are we going to be killing anything today?" Kill Shot asked eagerly, taking his place at the conference table. Ghost sighed as the transmission began, the holgram in the middle of the table coming to life.
"Attention Team Prime!" Lord Recluse's face appeared in the middle of the table, his voice loud and authorative. "I have recieved word that a minor rebellion has occurred in the South-Western SPIDER Province of the Recluse Empire. The local Extermination team is overwhelmed at the moment, so I need you, my most skilled and trusted team, to handle the situation. That is all." Recluse's face vanished, and the hologram ended.
"Alright!" Kill Shot said, cracking his knuckles. "It's been awhile since my Rifle got a crack at some people!" Kill Shot gently stroked his Assault Rifle. Death Blade sighed disgustedly as she typed in the coordinates on the panel in front of her. In the next instant, the team was teleported across the Empire to the South-Western SPIDER Province.
Upon arriving at the South-Western Base, the team immediately saw how dire the situation was.
"Death to Lord Recluse!" One of the rebels yelled as he stabbed his pole into an Exterminator Rifle that he had wrestled to the ground. Each rebel soldier had on bullet-proof armor and was wearing a helmet. Most of them were armed with guns, but others were armed with a riot shield and a metal pole. There were about 50 right in front of the team, and the rest of base was already swarming with the rebels, causing the team to immediately spring into action.
"I love this job." Kill Shot said, aiming his Assault Rifle at the nearest rebel. The rebel looked up in time to see the armor-piercing bullets rip through his skull, and in the next instant Kill Shot used his Shotgun adapter on his Rifle to kill three more rebels.
"Death to the weak!" Wildra hissed, extending the claws on her hands. With Super Speed, she shredded 7 rebels in an instant and slit the throat of 4 more before they could even move their heads to see what had happened.
"This logic is not sound." Noid said quietly, charging his energy blast. Unleashing it into the hallway of the base, it ripped through a dozen of the rebels as they attempted to enter the room.
"May God have mercy on your souls." Ghost whispered as several rebels charged him. Several fired their weapons at him. But just before the bullets hit, Ghost teleported out of the way and opened a hole into the netherworld that sucked the rebels into it. With another wave of his hand, the hole closed.
"Let's get this over with." Death Blade said, going through the hall that Noid had cleared earlier. Immediately 8 rebels charged her as she exited the opposite end of the corridor, but with lightning-quick speed she unsheathed her sword and slice through the rebels with one swipe, causing them to fall down and then explode. Continuing to step through, she saw that outside the battle was almost over, as there were about 100 rebels left as she watched the last Exterminator fall. Her teammates soon ran ahead of her, Kill Shot shooting wildly into the crowd of rebels as Noid aimed his energy beam straight into the heart of the crowd. Wildra chased after the rebels that attempted to flee, easliy catching up and killing them, and Ghost summoned several netherworld demons to slaughter the remaining rebels. Out of the corner of her eye, Death Blade saw that one of the rebels was still alive, and as he attempted to flee she easily stopped him, unsheathing her sword and pointing the blade a millimeter away from his face. The rebel broke down and cried.
"It's not fair! This was our one chance... our one chance!" He sobbed. "How can you support such an evil being?! He's taken EVERYTHING away from us... from ALL of us... why?! WHY do you fight for him?!" He buried his face on the ground and sobbed. Death Blade's expression hadn't changed in the slightest.
"If it's any reassurance for you in the next world," Death Blade said coldly. "I hate Lord Recluse too. But YOU can't do anything about it." Death Blade made one deft slice, and the man's head rolled onto the ground. "I can. If you TRULY wanted to save the world from Lord Recluse, you'd train everday like I do." She cleaned her sword and then sheated it. "Until I'm powerful enough... to make things right." She headed back to the group.
Ghost was in the middle of a prayer to honor those they had killed as Death Blade rejoined the group. Kill Shot was observing the dead bodies, a smile on his face.
"OK, mission accomplished, let's go." Death Blade said, heading back to the Base.
"Why does killing a man give someone such a sense of POWER, Ghost?" Kill Shot said jokingly as he patted Ghost on the back.
"Kill Shot, the Lord works in mysterious ways." Ghost said sharply. "I may not like it, but what we do with our lives is determined by Him, and there's nothing we can do to change that. You like to kill; I find it a sin. Just the difference that He chose to make in us."
And with that, the team teleported back home.

The Pain of Team Legacy: Mach Blade's Tale

The door to the bar opened, and an 18 year-old boy walked in. The bartender noticed this as the boy sat down at the table.
“Can I see some ID, kid?” The bartender said, remembering when the minimum drinking age had been 21, but in Lord Recluse’s Empire, it had been reduced to 18.
The boy looked up, and then searched his pockets. For someone going to a bar, he was dressed pretty oddly; the boy was wearing a white trenchcoat, over a white shirt and long white pants. He was wearing white shoes and fingerless, white gloves. His short, black hair was neatly cut, his forehead revealed a black headband. The bartender was a little uneasy, however, as the most noticeable feature on the boy was his Sword, sheathed in a hilt at the boy’s side.
The boy finally found what he was looking for. “I’m sorry, I didn’t come here to drink...” The boy said, pulling out a picture from inside his trenchcoat. “Have you seen anyone like this?” The boy handed the picture to the bartender, and as the bartender examined it the boy heard a loud crash, followed by laughing and the shout of a girl behind him.
"Well, look at this pretty thing!” One of the thugs said, his pals laughing as the thug held a young girl, looking only about 16 years old, by her hands. The girl was wearing a short-sleeved orange shirt, leaving her arms and hands completely bare, completing her outfit with a short orange skirt. Her feet sported only a pair of sandals, and her long, brown hair was tied back into two pig-tails. She looked surprisingly beautiful for such a young girl.
The girl screamed again as one of the thug’s friends grabbed her by the face. “Wow, I bet we can have a lot of fun with this one!” He said, licking his lips in anticipation.
The boy looked over the thugs; four in all, they were big, well-built men, all of them holding either knives or clubs at their sides, tucked under their belts. The girl struggled futilely against her attackers, and the boy sighed and approached the thugs.
“Now, it’s not nice to handle young woman like that!” The boy said nicely, smiling the thugs and the girl turned to him. “If it’s money you’re after, then I’m sure there are other places in this city that would have MUCH richer people to-”
“Shut that kid up!” The head thug said, and his other three cohorts charged him. In the blink of an eye, the boy grabbed a nearby chair and swung it at the nearest thug, breaking the chair and knocking him into the wall of the bar as he fell, unconscious. Another thug tried to get behind the boy, but the boy used the broken leg of the chair he had in hand to turn around with lightning-quick speed and toss it into the thug’s throat, causing the thug to gasp, hold onto his throat, and then fall down as he passed out from lack of oxygen. The last thug was still in front of the boy, and drew his knife out of his belt and tried to stab the boy in the abdomen. However, just before the dagger connected, the boy was able to move out of the way and grab and hit the thug on the back of his head with his sword, still sheathed, to knock the thug out. The boy then turned to the last thug, who had his knife out and was hovering it by the girl’s throat.
“OK, Mr. Hero, you better let me-” But in the next instant, the thug spat out in pain as his eyes rolled back into his head, dropping the knife and holding onto his... “family jewels”. The girl then quickly turned and kicked the thug on across the face while he was lying on the ground, turning to the boy.
The girl, who just before had been terrified, now appeared to be VERY angry. She marched up to the boy and pointed her finger in his face. “OK, now what was that all about?!” She yelled, and now it was the boy’s turn to be shocked as he looked at the young girl. “I’ll have you know it took me 3 whole weeks to learn about those guys, discover how much money they carried on them, find out their weekly ‘binge drinking’ schedule, and get ALL SORTS of information on them, and NOW...” She looked around at the unconscious thugs. “Well, I didn’t need your help, but at least I still get what I came here for!” She quickly bent down and searched their bodies, and then came back up with wads of cash in her hands, her expression now quite joyous. “WOW, this is even more than I thought they’d have!” She said, smiling as she counted the money.
The boy continued to look on in disbelief, then scolded her. “Hey, you’re ROBBING them!” He said, pointing his finger at her as a parent would at a child. “They may have been wrong in trying to-”
“Wow, what are you, some kind of monk?” The girl said, looking the boy over. She then slapped the boy’s pointing hand away. “And would you get your finger out of my-!”
She was interrupted as a the bartender fired a shotgun blast to the left of them. “You two kids get the hell out of my bar!” He yelled, throwing the boy’s picture at them. Catching the picture and putting it back into his trenchcoat, the boy grabbed the girl (against her will) and carried her as he ran out of the bar as fast as he could. Soon, the two were out in the middle of an abandoned park, the boy placing the girl on a dirty and rusty metal bench.
“Hey! What the hell do you think you’re doing!” The girl shouted, immediately getting off the bench.
The boy looked at girl in disbelief. “I THOUGHT I was saving your life...” He said softly.
“Oh, you...” The girl said angrily, beginning to walk away. “Good-bye!” She said, reaching inside her orange shirt for her money. She then stopped cold. “My money! Where’d it go?!” She yelled, looking immediately running back to the bench and looking around on the dirty grass of the park. She then turned to the boy. “YOU! I must have dropped it when YOU grabbed me! How dare you!” She gritted her teeth, the angry expression looking somewhat strange on such a beautiful face.
“Huh?” The boy said, reaching into his trenchcoat. He pulled out the money that the girl had stolen. “You mean this?” The girl gasped and then tried to grab the money, but the boy pulled it away from her. Angrily, the girl lunged at the boy, but the boy simply moved away and the girl landed in the muddy grass, getting her outfit dirty.
“LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE!!!” The girl said, standing up and practically fuming at the ears in anger. She then swung her fist at the boy. “COBRA PUNCH!” She yelled, but the boy stepped out of the way. “CRANE KICK!” The girl yelled, swinging her leg backward and catching the boy in the side, but the boy brushed her attack off.
“Umm... you’re not very strong, are you?” The boy asked, to which the girl responded by swinging at the boy with her fists repeatedly, but the boy blocked all of her punches with one hand.
The girl looked in disbelief at the boy. “Are you even human?” She asked breathlessly.
“Quite human, really.” The boy said, placing the money back into his trenchcoat. “But to think that a girl like you would do something so dangerous with those thugs... what was a young girl like you even doing IN that bar in the first place?”
“Hmph!” The girl sighed, crossing her arms across her chest. “I could ask YOU the same question, you know!”
The boy sighed again. “I didn’t go in there to drink...” The boy said, reaching back into his trenchcoat. He pulled out his picture once again. “I was going to see if the bartender recognized this woman.” He handed the picture to the girl.
The girl examined the picture. It showed a young girl, about 8 years old, smiling as she had her arm wrapped around a young boy the same age (she was choking him in the process, though the girl in the photo wasn’t aware of that). Both the girl and the boy in the photo were wearing matching blue uniforms, and it seemed like they were at some type of dojo. The girl examined the girl in the photo... she seemed rather cute, actually, with her crimson red hair tied back in a ponytail...
“That’s cute.” The girl said, handing the photo back to the boy. “So, who is she? Your childhood girlfriend or something?”
“No...” The boy said quickly, thinking back. “It’s just that...”

“Ow!” Rose said, falling onto the ground.
“Oh! I’m sorry Rose, I didn’t mean to hurt you!” Ken said, running down to Rose to see how badly she was injured. However, when he ran to her side...
“Hyaa!” Rose said, smiling as she grabbed Ken’s arm and pulled him down to the ground with her. Ken lifted his head up as Rose laughed, and Ken soon joined her.
“You get tricked really easy, Ken!” Rose said, helping Ken up. “At this rate, you’ll never become a Sword Wielder!”
Ken gasped. “I WILL become a Sword Wielder!” He yelled, slightly alarming Rose. “After all, it’s the highest and best form of fighting that can be learned here! Not even our Master was able to become one!” Ken’s eyes fluttered downward. “And besides, we made a promise when we first met...”
Rose smiled as the two walked down the stone path leading back to the main area of the dojo...

“It’s just that...” The boy said, still thinking back...

“Of all of the honors that a student of the Genshin-Long School can learn, the honor of becoming a Sword Wielder is the highest!” The Head Dojo Master said, addressing the small group of about 20 students, all of whom were still very young. Ken and Rose, both age 12, were among them. “However, the art of the Sword Wielder was originally meant to kill!” The Dojo Master said, and many students, including Ken and Rose, gasped. “Because of this, EVEN the very few of you who pass the ULTIMATE TEST and become a Sword Wielder, must vow to NEVER use the Techniques learned on ANY LIVING SOUL. If any among you still have foolish beliefs that wielding a Sword brings great honor and glory, you must rid yourself of such childish nonsense NOW! The truth is that learning to wield a Sword is learning how to kill! THAT is the ONE TRUTH you must NEVER forget!”

“It’s...” The boy continued to remember...

“Everyone out!” One of the Dojo Masters said, yelling loudly. Ken ran, his heartbeat so loud it almost deafened him to the screams...
“You must never touch those Swords in the Holy Shrine!” The Dojo Master’s words rang in his head. “No matter what happens, no matter how dire the situation...”
“Rose!” He yelled, the sweat running down his head, he could barely see her in the darkness...
“I’ll make sure you’re safe!” Rose said.
“Rose, we must...” Ken sobbed.
Ken looked over the boulder, gasping for air.
“ROSE!!!” He yelled into the night sky.

“HELLO!?!?!” The girl said, knocking the boy in the head. The blow knocked the boy back to the present. “You’ve been standing there in a trance for the last 5 minutes! I thought you’re brain had shorted out, or something!” She looked at the boy, and the boy could almost swear he saw concern in her eyes...
“Oh, I’m sorry...” The boy said, blushing slightly.
The girl frowned. “Were you having a naughty day dream about your girlfriend?” She asked teasingly.
The boy turned red. “NO, I WAS NOT!” He yelled, and the girl dropped the subject.
“Well, seeing as how YOU’RE the one with MY money, I suppose YOU will be buying me a new dress, right?” The girl said, smiling as she began to walk out of the park.
“A new dress?” The boy asked, looking at the stolen money in his hands. “It wouldn’t be right, at least not with money we didn’t earn.”
“Whatever you say, Monk.” The girl said. “Just give that money to charity or something and you can work in an iron mill or something for a couple weeks!”
“I’m not a monk!” The boy said, running after the girl. “And I’m usually called Mach Blade around here, you know!”
“‘Mach Blade’?” The girl asked. “I guess you don’t like your real name. That’s just like me!” She said, stopping and turning to Mach Blade. “My mother named me Daisy.” She said softly. “But I much prefer the name ‘Fighting Flower’!”
“Umm... I don’t hate my name, really...” Mach Blade said. “To be honest, I wouldn’t mind being addressed by my real name.”
“Oh?” Fighting Flower asked. “What is it?”
“It’s Ken.” He said, smiling. “Call me Ken.”

The Pain of Team Legacy: The Painful Past of The Slayer (Part 1)

“All right! All right! We’ll stop! We’ll stop!” The man sobbed lightly, on his knees as he begged for mercy. The full moon shone down on the small forest clearing, illuminating the unconscious bodies of the man’s friend as he bowed before his opponent. “We won’t bother Mr. Yamada anymore, we swear! We won’t even go near him, as long as you spare our lives! Please, Slayer!” The man lowered his head to the ground and sobbed even harder.
“Hmph!” The Slayer said, looking down at the man. He spit on the ground next to him. “I had no intention of killing you! I’m not some assassin, despite what some people think!” He narrowed his eyes at the man.
The Slayer stood over his opponent, his left arm at his side and his right arm leisurely resting his HUGE weapon across his shoulder. The Slayer didn’t seem like a very imposing person, at first glance. While he was pretty well-built for a boy of 17 years of age, aside from being in pretty good shape, he had the appearance of any normal teenage kid. In the light of the moon, his long blue pants blew in the breeze slightly, and his blue shirt was covered by the red leather jacket the Slayer always wore, with the symbol of a Dragon embroidered on the jacket’s back in black. The boy’s hands were wrapped in white cloth, and a white headband could be seen on his forehead, below his spiky brown hair. His green eyes, still fixated on the man, shone lightly in the night, though the man on the ground didn’t dare gaze into his eyes, rather summoning just enough courage to gaze at the Slayer’s black boots, only the bottom of which could be seen as the long blue pants covered most of the boots.
No, the MOST imposing thing about the Slayer, what had made him a rumor told around the underground of Lord Recluse’s Empire, was the HUGE Broadsword that was currently resting on the Slayer’s shoulder, named the Dragon Slayer. Even though the Dragon Slayer was EXTREMELY heavy, the Slayer currently held it over his shoulder, supporting it with just ONE of his arms.
“If you’re going to stop harassing that man,” The Slayer sighed, disappointment spreading over his face. “Then my work here is done.” The Slayer began to turn, then looked back at the man who was still cowering on his knees. “Pathetic guys like you aren’t even worth my time, anyway.” He added, and walked away.
[censored] it... The Slayer thought, heading to the Yamada residence to collect his pay. If I keep getting hired to deal with common low-lives like these, it’ll take me a million years to... Slayer’s thoughts wandered back for a moment, and he lowered his head a bit. I WILL become stronger, no matter WHAT it takes. And I’m sure I’ve increased my strength tremendously... The Slayer sighed. Maybe I’ve become TOO strong. He looked ahead. There has to be SOMEONE in this cursed Empire that can fight on the same level as me!

Ken and Daisy walked down the old, destroyed road. The road sat on a cliff, and it overlooked a wide forest area. A while ago, Lord Recluse had impounded all cars to be used as metal for weapons and ammunition to continue the War of New Era, so cars were almost non-existent in the Empire.
“Hey, Ken, where are we going exactly?” Daisy asked, breathing heavily as she tried to keep up with Mach Blade.
Ken turned to her. “Well, I was on my way to Recluse City when I bumped into you, so I figured-”
“RECLUSE CITY?!” Fighting Flower exclaimed, running up to Mach Blade. “WHY ARE WE GOING TO THAT DUMP?!” She waved her arms in protest.
Ken put up his hands defensively. “Well, Recluse City WOULD have people that might know where Rose is.”
Daisy looked at Ken in confusion for a moment, then smiled mischievously. “Oh, you mean your GIRLFRIEND!” She said, poking Mach Blade in the face. “So, her name’s Rose, huh? That’s so CUTE!”
Ken blushed. “She’s not my-”
“Not your girlfriend, right.” Fighting Flower said mockingly, walking leisurely ahead of Ken. “Well, I suppose if you’re going to Recluse City, you’re going to need money.” Daisy lifted her arm and flexed her muscle. “I can help you with that! With my brawn and your brains, we can get all the money we need!” Daisy laughed.
Ken walked over and squeezed Daisy’s muscle, which easily collapsed under his pressure. Daisy pulled her arm away, and then slapped Ken across the face.
“Don’t take me so lightly!” She said, her expression angry once more. “I’ll have you know I was trained by one of the greatest Martial Art’s teachers of all time!”
“Really?” Mach Blade said as nice as possible. “What’s his name?”
“Oh, her name was...” She then punched Ken across the face. “DON’T ASK ME THAT!”
This is going to be a pleasant trip... Ken thought sarcastically as Daisy rushed ahead of him.
“Hey Mach Blade! Last one there buys the food!” Daisy said teasingly as she ran ahead. Ken smiled a bit.
But she reminds me so much of... Ken thought...
Ken looked up and saw that Daisy had stopped farther down the road, and was looking out over the edge of the road into the forest clearing. She turned and yelled back to Ken.
“Hey, there’s a small town right here! Be prepared to pay up!” Fighting Flower giggled and jumped down the rocky cliff.
“Daisy!” Ken yelled, running with phenomenal speed to where she had jumped, and looked down the cliff. Daisy was smiling up at him as she easily bounded from jagged outcropping to jagged outcropping, slowly making her way down the cliff. Looking across the horizon, Mach Blade saw a small clearing that held several small buildings, obviously a town of some sort.
“I’ll be waiting at the nearest restaurant!” Daisy teased as she landed on ground at the foot of the cliff. She then bounded into the forest.
She’s so reckless... Mach Blade thought, sighing as he easily ran down the face of the cliff. Yet another trait they share...

“Wow, look at this place!” Daisy said, running around to the various stores in the town. The town appeared to be one large market, with small stores selling food, weapons, traveling gear, and various trinkets. Though many people were walking around, it was obvious that no one lived in this town, since there weren’t any inns or houses.
“I guess it would be advantageous to place markets in between cities like this...” Mach Blade commented as he eyed several VERY expensive rifles in the windows of one store. “Since no one has any cars anymore, I guess places like these could do very well business-wise.”
“Hey, Ken...” Daisy said, thinking aloud. “Since this town is so far away from the police stations and such, wouldn’t it be easy to-”
A loud crash interrupted Daisy as she and Ken turned to see a jumping out of one of the windows of a nearby store, crashing through the window as he made his escape.
“STOP! THIEF!!!” The store owner yelled as the man ran towards the woods rather quickly. Mach Blade was about to take action when...
“Oof!” The man cried out as he was hit in the abdomen by a boy who had just entered the market town. The man crumpled to the floor after the one hit by the boy.
“Man, I can’t stand thieves.” The boy sighed, looking up as he and Mach Blade saw what was obviously the town’s police chief run up to the now-unconscious thief. He rolled the thief’s body over and placed some cuffs on him while he looked up at the boy. The officer’s eyes settled on the large sheathed sword on the boy’s back.
“You’re that guy everyone calls the Slayer, aren’t you?” The officer asked as two other officers showed up and took the thief away. “I thank you for your help here. As you can see, this town is pretty short-handed when it comes to law enforcement, and we could-”
“If you’re asking me for a job, you can forget it.” The Slayer said bluntly as he started to walk past the police chief. “I’m only here to eat and then move on.”
“Oh, no, I wasn’t asking you to become a police officer, of course...” The police chief said, still facing away from the Slayer. “But I DO have an offer that you might be interested in, considering your profession.”
The Slayer stopped for a moment. “Tell you what. Treat me to my meal and I’ll listen to what you have to say.” He said, without turning to face the police chief. “But I warn you, I’ve been pretty disappointed with the jobs I’ve gotten lately. If this is another personal squabble involving weaklings, you can count me out.”
“Oh, I assure you...” The police chief said, eyeing Mach Blade and Daisy as the two entered a nearby restaurant. “There aren’t any weaklings involved in this.”

“All right! Look at all this food!” Daisy said, drooling slightly as she saw several orders being prepared in the kitchen area of the restaurant. “And I don’t have to pay a cent!” She said, grinning as she turned to Ken. “Isn’t that right, Ken?”
Ken turned to her and blushed. “Well, I guess I do owe you for your outfit...” He said as he led the two of them to a table. “But I don’t... exactly...” He blushed even more. “I’m kind of broke...”
Daisy punched Ken in the face. “You idiot! You still have that money you stole from me, don’t you?!”
“Huh?” Ken looked at her. “No, I gave that to a local charity right before we left the city.” He laughed lightly. “After all, it wouldn’t be right for us to use stolen money for ourselves, now would it?”
Daisy’s face turned to a crimson hue, and Ken could almost see the smoke come out of her ears. “YOU MORON!!!” She yelled, causing everyone in the restaurant to turn to them as she began to throw punches at Mach Blade (which he easily blocked with his hand). “HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING SO STUPID?! THAT WAS MY MONEY TOO, YOU BIG JERK!!!”
“Please, Daisy...” Ken said, still blocking her punches. “You’re making a scene...”
“I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’D-” Fighting Flower stopped as she saw several people on the floor, ignoring them as they tossed dice on the ground. She smiled and stopped hitting Ken.
“Uh, Daisy, what are you...” Ken asked, watching her leave the table and join the men.
The men looked up as the saw the smiling girl join them. “Hey guys!” Daisy said as high-pitched as possible, putting on the best “young, innocent girl” routine she could. Ken looked puzzled as he watched her from the table. “What are you doing here?” She asked as she picked up one of the dice and looked it over.
The men smiled, and one of them answered. “We’re playing a little game, baby.” He said, taking the dice from Daisy. “It’s called ‘Odds or Evens’. Pretty simple. Guess right, and you get money. Guess wrong, and you lose money. Wanna play?” He looked around, and his friends nodded, smiling slyly.
“Well, I guess I’ll try it!” Daisy said, taking out a Recluse $10 Bill. “This is all I have. How much will I get if I guess right?”
“You’d double it, baby.” The man said, still smiling. “Of course, you’d lose it if you guess wrong. How about it?”
“Hmm...” Daisy pretended to think it over as she reached into one of the pockets in her orange outfit. “OK! I guess I can try one or two!” She placed the $10 in front of her, and the man handed her the dice. “I’ll say... Evens!” She shook the dice and tossed them on the floor. The dice landed: one and one.
The man smiled. “Nice work! Here.” He handed her a $10 Bill. “Why don’t you try again?”
Several minutes later...
“Wow! I won again!” She said as the dice landed: 3 and 4. The other men, by this time, had their mouths open in shock. “Let’s see...” Daisy thought. “320 times 2 equals 640! Wow, I guess I’m pretty good at this!”
“Yeah, you are...” The man growled, and he and his friends got up. “A little TOO-” He stopped short as he saw Mach Blade stare at him, his hand on the hilt of his sword. He swallowed hard, then motioned to his friends. “Let’s cut our losses and go.” The others looked at him in confusion, but he was already at the door. “NOW!” He yelled, and the group ran out of the restaurant.
Daisy giggled slightly as she returned to the table with a new wad of cash. “Not too bad!” She said, smiling as she took her seat. “I’m pretty lucky, huh?”
“Luck had nothing to do with it.” Ken said, reaching across the table and into one of her pockets. As Daisy protested, Ken pulled out 6 dice, which landed on the table, each a different number. “It’s not nice to use loaded dice in games of chance.” Ken scolded.

“So, what do you say, Slayer?” The police chief asked as Slayer took another bite of his chicken. “Do we have a deal?”
The Slayer finished his chicken leg and narrowed his eyes at the police chief. “Let me get this straight: you want me to fight this guy, even though he hasn’t done anything to you, and on top of that, you don’t care if he lives or dies?” The Slayer’s tone became harsh. “You must be mistaking me for an assassin or mercenary of some kind. And I’d be willing to bet that you’re not just acting on your own behalf, either. But...” The Slayer’s tone became somewhat softer. “The money seems good, and if what you say is true, this could be a real test of my skill...” The Slayer got up. “OK, I’ll do it. But I warn you, if this turns out to be another waste of my time, my payment will be beating the crap out of you instead of the money, understand?”
The police chief smiled up at the Slayer. “You won’t be disappointed, Slayer. I guarantee it.”

The Pain of Team Legacy: The Painful Past of The Slayer (Part 2)

“Oh, yeah!” Daisy said, leaning back in her seat. The empty plates stretched out between her and Ken. “What a feast! It feels good to be full after 3 whole days of nothing!”
“I’m still surprised you ate so much!” Ken said, finishing his cup of tea. “How do you keep such a good figure?”
“DON’T ASK A WOMAN THAT!” Daisy yelled, and Ken apologized.
The door to the restaurant opened, and a boy stepped in. Ken instantly recognized him as the same one who had stopped the thief earlier that day. He looked around the restaurant.
“I’m looking for the guy that calls himself Mach Blade! Show yourself!” The man yelled across the restaurant. Ken sighed and stood up, along with Daisy.
“I’m the one you’re looking for...” Ken said, looking a bit puzzled as he observed the boy.
“You. Me. Outside. RIGHT NOW!” The boy yelled, exiting the restaurant.
Ken and Daisy followed the boy outside the restaurant. By now, night had fallen, and the cool wind blew the dirt around the boy as the full moon illuminated the market town.
“Why are you bothering Ken like this?!” Daisy demanded, and the Slayer smiled.
“It’s my job, little girl.” The Slayer chuckled, and Ken held Daisy back as she threw another fit. “I’m known as the Slayer, and I’ve been hired to fight you, the one called Mach Blade! I was told I would be given a good fight, so you’d better give me one! Otherwise...” The Slayer reached over his shoulder and grabbed the hilt of his Dragon Slayer. Withdrawing it slowly, the huge sword gleamed in the moonlight as he brought the sword in front of him. “I’ll have no choice but to kill you with all the power of my Dragon Slayer!”
Daisy gasped slightly, but Ken narrowed his eyes and walked forward. Daisy began to follow him, but stopped when Ken looked back at her, a serious expression on his face that she had never seen before. Ken turned back to the Slayer. “If you want to fight me, that’s fine.” Ken said in a much more serious tone then Daisy had ever heard. “But not here, in this town. I will only fight you if we go into the woods. Is that OK with you?”
The Slayer smiled. “Heh, that’s fine with me.” He looked at Daisy. “Sword fights shouldn’t be witnessed by little girls, anyway.”
“WHY YOU-” Daisy began, but stopped as Ken made a motion with his arm.
“Daisy, go back into the restaurant and wait for me.” He kept his eyes on the Slayer as he said this. “This won’t take long.”
Daisy, a bit surprised by all this, did as she was told. The two warriors were soon facing each other in a small clearing in the middle of the woods. Unknown to them, however, was the police chief, who was watching them, wearing a pair of glasses. The glasses were actually connected to Lord Recluse’s database, and the lenses themselves were screens that allowed one wearing the glasses to see things that couldn’t be seen without the glasses.
“Now, let’s see here...” The police chief chuckled as the screen over his eyes flashed on. He first looked at the Slayer. The small screens over his eyes flashed this information:

Name: The Slayer
Origin: Natural
Archetype: Scrapper
Class: Broadsword / Invulnerability
Combat Level: 21
Current Health: 512.4
Current Energy: 100

“Good...” The police chief chuckled. “Now, for Mach Blade.” He turned to Mach Blade.

Name: Mach Blade
Origin: Not Found
Archetype: Scrapper
Class: Katana / Super Reflexes
Combat Level: Not Found
Current Health: Not Found
Current Energy: Not Found

“Darn it...” The police chief cursed under his breath. “I thought Lord Recluse had gotten more information than that.” He smiled. “I guess that’s why he wanted more information on this Hero.”

“Are you ready, Mach Blade?” The Slayer asked, grabbing the hilt of his sword with both hands. “Caus’ here I come!” He yelled, and charged Mach Blade.
Mach Blade stood his ground, and the Slayer raised the sword over his head and slammed it down to the ground where Mach Blade was standing, sending dirt and debris everywhere.
“Got ya!” The Slayer said. “What...?” He looked at where he had hit and didn’t see Mach Blade anywhere.
“Not quite.” Mach Blade said, and the Slayer turned to see that he was behind him.

The Slayer Hacks at Mach Blade!
The Slayer’s attack missed!

“Slayer, the Dragon Slayer is a very powerful weapon indeed, but it’s size and weight makes it extremely difficult to wield fast enough to be useful in combat.” Mach Blade narrowed his eyes. “I have no desire to fight you, Slayer. It is obvious your desire to fight me isn’t driven by greed alone, either. Why are so obsessed with proving your strength?”
“Shut up and fight me!” The Slayer said, making a jab with his sword straight at Mach Blade.

The Slayer Slashes at Mach Blade!
The Slayer’s attack missed!

“Where are you, coward?” The Slayer yelled, looking around. He didn’t see Mach Blade anywhere.
“Up here!” Mach Blade called, and the Slayer looked up in time to see Mach Blade land a blow with the back of his sword on his shoulder, followed by a quick succession of blows with the back of his sword onto the Slayer’s chest. Mach Blade then jumped back, his sword glowing with odd blue energy.

Mach Blade uses (Attack not Found) against The Slayer for a reduced 86.2 points of Lethal Damage!
Mach Blade’s attack does an additional reduced 57.7 points of Energy Damage!
Mach Blade attacks The Slayer with (Attack not Found) for a reduced 94.8 points of Lethal Damage!
Mach Blade’s attack does an additional reduced 75.2 points of Energy Damage!

Damn it... The Slayer thought, panting heavily as he leaned on his Dragon Slayer, his red leather jacket torn and falling of his body, revealing the blue shirt underneath. This guy’s strong... he makes ME look like a weakling! The Slayer narrowed his eyes in anger at Mach Blade. No! I can’t be weak! Never again! I’ll never...
“I’ll never be weak again!” The Slayer yelled, charging at Mach Blade with his Dragon Slayer. “I have to get stronger!”
He still has so much energy left, despite that beating I gave him... Mach Blade thought in surprise.
The Slayer jumped up into the air, surprisingly high for a boy his age wielding such a large weapon. When I get stronger, I’ll never be helpless... like I was... Tears began forming in his eyes. I’ll never have anyone else die right in front of me... ever again...
“THIS BATTLE ENDS HERE!” The Slayer yelled as he brought the Dragon Slayer down on Mach Blade.

The Slayer attacks Mach Blade with Overhead Slash!
The Slayer’s attack missed!

“I respect your determination, Slayer.” Mach Blade said, behind him. Mach Blade then hit the Slayer across his back with the back of his sword. The Slayer flew forward, dropping his Dragon Slayer at Mach Blade’s feet and landing in a heap a few feet away. “But determination alone can’t win battles.”

Mach Blade uses his Backhand Slash against The Slayer, doing a reduced 87.6 points of Lethal Damage!
Mach Blade’s attack does an additional 69.1 points of Energy Damage!

“You should feel pretty bad in the morning, but otherwise be fine.” Mach Blade said, sheathing his sword. “You should be able to move your body again in about an hour. Please try not to move until then.” He began to walk away.
“It’s.. not over... yet...” The Slayer said, struggling to his feet. Mach Blade looked back in shock.
“I... can’t... lose...” The Slayer breathed. “I can’t be weak! Ever again!” The Slayer yelled, summoning what little strength he had left to charge Mach Blade. However, Mach Blade moved quickly and punched the Slayer in the stomach, causing him to fall down again.

Mach Blade Brawls with The Slayer for 26.1 points of smashing damage!

“It’s obvious there’s something troubling you, something from your past, I’d assume.” Mach Blade sighed, looking down the Slayer. “Since Lord Recluse came into power, many lives have been torn apart, and I’d be willing to bet that Lord Recluse’s War is one of the reasons for your obsession.” Ken kneeled down next to the Slayer, who was breathing heavily, trying to remain conscious. “It would be best if you told me what’s bothering you, what happened in your past. I can’t change anything, of course, but I may be able to help you now.”
“I don’t want you to help me!” The Slayer said harshly. “I don’t want anyone to help me anymore!” Tears began streaming down his face. “That’s what I’ve needed all my life, what everyone around me always did. But when it was my turn, when they needed me the most, I could never...” The Slayer sobbed harder. “I could never...”

“Even from birth, I was a disappointment.” The Slayer began. “I can only imagine the shame my parents felt, the fact that two of the greatest Heroes in Paragon City created a son that had no powers whatsoever. I spent my childhood listening to the great adventures of heroism my parents had, knowing that I could never become as great as they were. I was usually left in the care of a babysitter as they went off to save Paragon. I would watch the news programs on TV, which at the time usually reported the heroic feats of the various Heroes in Paragon City. I learned about a lot of great Heroes that way. Heroes such as Statesman, the Back Alley Brawler, Sister Psyche, and many others.”
“But the ones that interested me the most were the ones that had no powers and still became Heroes. They usually carried a weapon with them, and I was particularly fond of swords. I would usually find the biggest sticks outside our house and practice with them, pretending I was fighting alongside my parents. Back then, I honestly thought that one day I would be able to become a famous Hero like them.”
“One day, when I was 9, my parents brought home a wooden Katana that I could train with. But I gave it back to them, telling them that the sword was too wimpy to be used by a ‘real’ Hero. They seemed to understand, and at my 10th Birthday...” The Slayer’s sobbing redoubled. “My 10th Birthday... they... showed me my trusted sword, the Dragon Slayer. They had specially ordered it to be crafted for me, and told me...” The Slayer breathed deeply. “They told me that when I was older, when I was STRONGER, I would be able to...” The Slayer paused for a moment. “That was... the last thing... they ever did for me...” He turned his head to Mach Blade. “I’m sure you’ve heard about... the Rularuu Invasion?” Mach Blade nodded. “It just happened to be on that day that it occurred. When the portals opened, they were called in, along with so many other Heroes...”
He turned his gaze back to the night sky. “After that, for one whole year, I trained. I trained with my Dragon Slayer, swearing to honor their memory by becoming the greatest Hero Paragon City had ever seen. And after that...” The Slayer smiled slightly, despite his tears. “After that, I started my short Hero career in Paragon City. It was the best three years of my life.” He laughed softly. “I had gotten into a Super Group, and was just starting to be involved in some big missions, when...” His smile faded. “When... it happened again...”
“When Lord Recluse began his War, I was only 14.” The Slayer’s voice became even softer. “During the Last Stand of Paragon City, all of the active Super Groups were called in to defend the city, and my group was no exception. We battled Lord Recluse’s Exterminators, and were doing quite well, when...”

“Hyaa!” The Slayer yelled, his Dragon Slayer slicing three Exterminator Rifles in half simultaneously. Four more quickly replaced them.
“Man, there’s no end to these guys!” Red Blast yelled as he used his Fire Breath on several Exterminator Lasers.
“They’re not push-overs, either!” Titan 275 laughed as he fought against 3 Exterminator Grenades.
“Don’t worry, we can take em!” Slicer said as his claws slashed through 2 Exterminator Swords.
“We should fall back with the others!” One of the Exterminator swords hissed to his partner.
“But if we let these Heroes live, and Lord Recluse finds out...” The other shot back.
“I’ll handle them.” A young girl said, a hateful expression on her face as she grabbed the hilt of the sword at her side. “After all, it’s what Recluse would want, right?” She said, absolute hatred in her voice. “Get your men out of here.”
“Death Blade!” The two Exterminators said. “Right! We’ll withdraw at once!” The remaining Exterminators retreated, and the two dozen Heroes of the Super Group looked at the one opponent they now faced.
“Well, this is a riot.” Cool Man laughed lightly. “They’re leaving one little girl to deal with ALL of-” His words were cut short as Death Blade was upon him, slicing her sword and cutting his head from his body. The two parts of his body then fell to the ground and exploded, and everyone could see the odd red energy that her sword glowed with, now mixed with their friend’s blood.
“YOU!” The remaining Heroes, including the Slayer, charged her. In an instant, the 23 Heroes of the group were reduced to 6.
“[censored] it!” The Slayer said, looking around at his fallen friends. “Could this be... the end?” He looked and saw that two of the Heroes in the group had tried to ambush Death Blade from behind, only for both of them to be cut in half with one stroke.
“Then...” The Slayer steadied his Dragon Slayer. “I’ll meet my death... with ALL MY STRENGTH!” He charged her, but she easily got behind him and was about to cut his head off when he disappeared. Death Blade looked around in confusion, but then quickly sliced at the 3 Heroes that were trying to surprise her.
“This is all I could do...” Honest Medic told the Slayer telepathically as death slowly overtook her. The Slayer found himself far away from the battlefield, on the outskirts of the city. Honest Medic had Teleported him there, apparently. “You’re the youngest Hero in our group, and shouldn’t die... like this...” Even telepathically, her voice began to become softer. “Please... for my sake... run...” Her voice ceased in the Slayer’s head.

“Even though it went against everything I wanted to do...” By now, tears were streaming down the Slayer’s face. “I honored her last wish, and left the city. I became numb with pain for some time, and hid myself in the mountains, practicing my sword skills on trees and rocks. I was so angry...” He closed his eyes. “I was angry at Lord Recluse for killing Statesman, angry at the Rularuu for killing my parents, angry at that girl for killing my friends, but most of all...” He turned to Mach Blade. “I was angry at myself, for being so weak that I wasn’t able to protect them when they needed me the most.”
“For 3 years...” The Slayer sighed. “For the past three years, I’ve been taking passing myself off as someone who will fight your fights for you, if you’re too weak to fight them yourself. A lot of the jobs I’ve taken, I’ve known that I was supporting pretty shady guys...” He turned back to the night sky. “But I don’t really care who I hurt anymore. All I want to do now is become stronger, and when I get strong enough...” He clenched his fists. “I’ll take down Lord Recluse AND this lousy Empire with the gift my parents left me, my Dragon Slayer!”

The Slayer rose to his feet, but Mach Blade was still kneeling, apparently in shock of some sort. He snapped out of his trance, and turned to the Slayer.
“Did you say...” He said quickly, watching the Slayer struggle to his feet. “That the girl... the one who killed your Super Group... was wielding a blade glowing with red energy?”
“Yeah...” The Slayer gasped.
"And..." Mach Blade looked up with a very strange expression on his face. "Did she have... red hair?"
"Yes..." The Slayer shook his head. “But that’s not important right now! Let’s finish this!” He used his last remaining strength and swung the Dragon Slayer at Mach Blade.

The Slayer Slashes at Mach Blade!
The Slayer’s attack missed!

“Slayer,” Mach Blade said, appearing behind him. “I understand your desire to become stronger, but the way you’re going about it is wrong. You won’t find strong opponents if you take jobs with the citizens of this Empire, I’m sure of that. I became this strong because I risked my life countless times to save others, and if you act more like a Hero and less like a mercenary, I’m sure that you would find enemies stronger than what you’re facing now. And even more important...” He swung his blade and hit the Slayer across his back with the back of his blade. “You would be doing so with a clean conscious, living up to the ideals that your parents and your fallen Super Group wanted you to live up to!” The Slayer was shocked by his words, and then fell to the ground, unconscious.

Mach Blade Quick Slashes at The Slayer for 69.4 points of lethal damage!
Mach Blade’s attack does an additional 49.6 points of energy damage!
Mach Blade has defeated The Slayer!

“Incredible!” The police chief breathed, watching the fight end. “He never touched him!” He thought. “And some of those attacks weren’t even in the Database...” He hurried away from the battlefield. “I’d better get this information to Lord Recluse quickly!” He said, taking the glasses off and hurrying to a nearby building that sat alone in the forest.
Inside the building, there were various computers, and a large monitor in the middle of the building. Turning the computers on, the monitor came to life and soon showed what could only be described as a younger version of Lord Recluse on the screen.
“Lord Rampage, I have the information you requested!” The chief said, placing the glasses on a glowing platform over one of the many computers.
“Ah, that’s good.” Lord Rampage said, his voice eerily cheerful and normal, despite his appearance. “And here I was about to tell Lord Recluse to kill you and have someone else do the job.” The police chief tensed up a bit as he headed over to another computer.
“I’m transferring the da-” However, at that moment, a blast went straight through his chest, and the chief crumpled to the floor. In the next moment, the computers began to melt, and the entire building collapsed in a green puddle of liquid metal. A young woman, about 20 years old, stood over the wreckage.
“So nice of you to lead me to this communication station, chief.” She said, smiling as she brushed her hand through her long, purple hair. “And here I was thinking that my week’s stay in the market town would be a waste. But make no mistake...” She narrowed her eyes and looked up at the night sky. “With my Radioactive powers, all of Lord Recluse’s stations here in the Empire will fall.” And with that, she walked away into the woods.

“Oh, well...” Lord Rampage sighed, staring at the static large screen. “I guess he couldn’t do the job, after all.” He changed the frequency on the monitor and the image of Lord Recluse filled the screen.
“I hope you have good news, Rampage.” Lord Recluse said. “I’ve just been informed that we’ve won the Battle of London and I would hate for something bad to spoil my mood.”
“Oh, no, Lord Recluse.” Lord Rampage smiled, his smile strangely normal for one who looked like Lord Recluse. “I’m just informing you that the police chief we hired wasn’t able to get the information on Mach Blade, and asking if it would be OK for me to go to plan B. Oh, and congratulations on your victory. I highly doubted we’d lose that battle, anyway.”
“Go ahead with Plan B, for all I care.” Lord Recluse said. “I have the invasion of France to plan and I could care less what the few remaining Heroes are doing in my Empire.” He smiled wickedly. “Besides, my victory has been assured since the day I killed Statesman.”
“Of course, Lord Recluse. I’ll do that right away.” Rampage smiled as he switched frequencies again, this time showing a 21 year old man resting on a boulder. He looked up at Lord Rampage.
“Let me guess...” He said, flashing a wicked smile. “The police chief failed.”
Lord Rampage nodded. “That’s right. Feel free to deal with Mach Blade yourself, Kill Strike.”
Kill Strike drew his sword. “With pleasure.” And with that, he disappeared from the screen, running off to face his prey.

“Hey, Ken, what’s wrong?” Daisy asked as the two walked out of the hospital in the small market town. Ken had a pack slung over his shoulder. “You haven’t said a word since you brought that boy to the hospital last night! What happened?”
Ken looked at her and smiled. “Oh, nothing.” He said as the two walked past a restaurant. Daisy looked longingly at it.
“Hey, how about we get something to eat before we head out again?” Daisy said pleadingly. “It will probably be the only hot meal we’re going to be able to get in a while!”
“Oh, there’s no need for that!” Ken said, gesturing to his pack. Placing it on the ground, he opened it up to reveal A LOT of food. “It turns out those men you were gambling with yesterday were actually playing with money they had stolen from another restaurant! But it had been so well orchestrated that even the owner of the restaurant didn’t realize it until we were headed to the hospital last night!” Ken closed the pack again. “Once I gave him back the money you won, he thanked me by giving me this food! And I figured-”
“WHAT?!” Daisy yelled. “You gave away the money I earned AGAIN?!”
“Stealing and earning are two different things.” Ken said bluntly.
“WHY YOU-” But Daisy stopped as she and Ken heard shouting from the hospital.
“Please, let us at least treat the bruises and lacerations!” One of the nurses pleaded as the Slayer dragged several nurses clinging to his arms with him as he left the hospital.
“You said there was nothing life threatening already!” The Slayer said. “If that’s the case, I’m out of here!”
“But those bruises are going to hurt like-” One of the nurses began.
“These?” He said, gesturing to the bruises across his body. “Believe me, I’ve had much worse injuries before. I think I’ll survive.” He shook the nurses off and ran towards Ken and Daisy, the Dragon Slayer still sheathed on his back.
“You’re not leaving in this condition, are you Slayer?” Ken asked, surprised.
“I sure am!” The Slayer said, laughing slightly. “And don’t call me Slayer! My real name is Dan, and I would like it if you call me that from now on.”
“OK...” Ken laughed slightly. “I didn’t think any parents would name their children ‘Slayer’, anyway.”
“How can you still be walking with THESE?!” Daisy asked, circling around Dan and observing his wounds. “Don’t they hurt?”
“Not at ALL!” Dan shouted the last word as Daisy began to poke the wounds. “DON’T DO THAT!”
“Well, I do seem to be meeting the strangest people...” Ken began but then was hit across the face by both Daisy and Dan.
“WHO ARE YOU CALLING STRANGE?!” Ken and Dan yelled at the same time.
So, a slightly dazed Ken, a hungry Daisy, and a battered Dan continued down the path to Recluse City.

That was great! I agree, nice way to bring them together. Poor Ken, he found out Rose is one of the baddies! Hey at least he's got Daisy!

(Now, are Hope, Faith, Luck, Gabriel, and Michael still in the story? Just wondering when they will come in.)

Great job!

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about them!

By the way, I'd like to take this time to thank Vondor, Heidi O Mighty, and JHornet for their continued feedback and support! It's nice to know I've created something good here.

The next Chapter is going to shift it's focus back onto them. I'm aiming for the Chapters to "revolve" like this, so hopefully all of the Characters in the story will not be left out for TOO long. The next Chapter, for example, will introduce a new Villain (and Villainess), but will also go back to the original Team Legacy. I expect all of the Characters of this story to be in play in about three or four Chapters, so I can focus on advancing the plot and secrets of this Fanfiction I've created.

Besides, aside from Team Legacy and Mach Blade and his friends, I still have two more Hero Groups that I haven't mentioned in the story yet.

Did I just give something away?

Well, I finally finished the next Chapter! I said in my last post that Team Legacy would be appearing in the next Chapter; however, due to the way the story came out, it turns out that they won't show up again until NEXT Chapter. Sorry about that! But don't worry, I GUARANTEE they'll show up next Chapter!
Anyway, on a personal note, there's one section in this Chapter (it should be obvious once you read it) that I had to edit in order to get it on the Forums! The un-edited version went into more, uh, detail. But I'm glad with the way it came out!
Well, I'll just post the next Chapter now. Enjoy!

The Pain of Team Legacy: The Deadly Beauty, Meltdown

I can’t believe it... Meltdown thought as she looked out from inside of the old, abandoned building. Over three dozen Exterminator were now split up and patrolling the streets, looking for her. Five of them remained, methodically walking back and forth along the street that held her only exit out of the city. Meltdown cringed slightly an Exterminator Sword came close to where she was hiding, his sword gleaming in the small amount of sunlight that broke through the cloudy sky above Recluse City.
There’s no way I could beat that many Exterminators... Meltdown thought bitterly as she turned away from dusty window and crouched down onto the dirty floor of the abandoned building. She placed her head onto her folded arms and wept slightly. I’ve been able to do hide for a whole year, and one mistake... A tear ran down her face. Damn you, Recluse...
The tear landed on the arm of her red leather jacket, which had the black insignia of a Spider on it’s back. Under the red leather coat, she wore a black spandex one-piece outfit, that stretched down from her neck and covered her whole body, save her hands and feet. Her feet sported black boots and her hands black, fingerless leather gloves. She looked up, her long, purple hair that fell onto her shoulders quite filthy from dirt and sweat. The look of desperation and fear in her green eyes seemed foreign to one who had such a beautiful face; for she was quite young, being only 20 years old.
I’ll have to find another way out of the city... Meltdown thought as she slowly rose to her feet. And if they do find me... She clenched her fist, which glowed slightly with green radiation. I’ll make sure to take as many of them down with me as I can!

“Listen, Mr. Dimentid, you must understand our position...” The diplomat said, his face red as he sweat bullets, visible even on the screen in front of Mr. Dimentid.. “Our country is not powerful enough to protect ourselves, and yet at the same time, the rest of the world would condemn us if we sided with Lord Recluse.”
“Then perhaps you should simply side with Lord Recluse.” Mr. Dimentid smiled, taking a sip of his red wine. “After all, you’ve already accepted money from us in exchange for giving us... oh, how did you put it?” Mr. Dimentid chuckled slightly, adjusting his glasses. “Your ‘worthless slave rebels’, I believe?” Mr. Dimentid took another sip of wine as he adjusted himself in his seat, the computer screen providing the only light in his luxurious office room.
The Diplomat sweated harder. “Listen, IF I was to suggest to the politicians about siding with Lord Recluse... well, you must understand, we’d lose valuable trade that would make us... ah, beneficial, to your cause.” He narrowed his eyes.
Mr. Dimentid chuckled again, and turned to look out the window, into the thriving metropolis that was New Recluse City. “Well, naturally you’d receive... compensation... for your aid.” Mr. Dimentid turned back to the screen. “What exactly are you asking?”
The diplomat shifted nervously on the screen. “Several thousand assault rifles... as well as 10,000 tons of food and water to support our troops and populace...” The diplomat took a deep breath. “And we’ll no doubt want to remain an independent nation after the War’s conclusion.”
Mr. Dimentid chuckled again. “I’ll discuss it with Lord Recluse.” He said, smiling as he took another sip of wine. “It’s his decision, after all.” He reached over to the screen. “Be sure to keep in touch.” He tapped a key on the touch-pad computer screen, and the diplomat’s image disappeared.
“Another third-world nation come groveling to our feet?” Risk asked, stepping out of the shadows from the corner of the large room.
“Of course.” Mr. Dimentid said, looking up from his computer.
Mr. Dimentid, though only 18 years old, was already quite powerful in the Recluse Empire. His expensive black leather suit, complete with extravagant shoes, cost more than the majority of the citizens in the Empire had spent on their living arrangements. That wasn’t even including his Designer glasses and the price to keep his short, brown hair slick and professional. Even though his profession didn’t call for much activity, he was in pretty good shape, being the youngest member of the Athletics Club that all of the business people in New Recluse City belonged to. He walked over and held Risk lightly with his white-gloved hands.
“Everyone has their price, Risk.” He said, caressing her shoulders as he led her back to his desk. “You know that.”
“I do.” Risk said, smiling as she stood next to Mr. Dimentid and looked over his shoulder at the computer. “But I just LOVE the way you string them along to get what you want out of them.” She leaned down and whispered into his ear. “It turns me on.”
Mr. Dimentid smiled as he looked over Risk. She was wearing a black transparent night-gown over her incredibly provocative black two-piece underwear, exposing her incredibly gorgeous body. Her long, blonde hair fell neatly across the sides of her unbelievably beautiful face as he stared into her blue eyes.
He reached over, causing her to moan slightly. He smiled as she began to utter the most pleasing sounds. Oh, yes... Mr. Dimentid thought, smiling. She was worth every penny.
“Ahem!” Lord Rampage was now on the computer screen, observing the actions between Mr. Dimentid and Risk with a small grin on his horrible face. “I hope I’m not interrupting, Cecil.”
“Not at all, Rampage.” Mr. Dimentid sighed, turning back to the computer. “What does Lord Recluse want NOW?”
“It seems like we’ve finally tracked down Meltdown.” Lord Rampage said, his voice eerily cheerful. “We’ve sent several Exterminators to deal with her, but Lord Recluse wants you to send those Spine Mercenaries on your payroll after her, as well.”
“Hmph!” Mr. Dimentid sneered. “Why should I send the Spine Brethren to deal with a task that Recluse’s Exterminators could take care of easily?”
“Well, our latest report tells us we’ve got her pinned down in Recluse City.” Lord Rampage said. “As you know, there are some other... pests... we have to deal with there, as well.”
“I see.” Mr. Dimentid smiled. “So you’re expecting Meltdown to lure the last remnants of Chance’s little resistance group out of the woodwork of Recluse City so the Spine Brethren can finish them all off.” He laughed. “That’s pretty sly of Lord Recluse. Alright.” He moved his hand to the screen. “Tell Recluse it’s as good as done.” He touched a button on the computer screen, and Lord Rampage’s image was replaced with that of four Villains with Spines coming out of their bodies as they ate around a table. One of them looked up as he saw Mr. Dimentid.
“Oh, Cecil!” The Villain said, smiling. “Haven’t heard from you in while! I hope you’ve got some people for us to kill, caus’ I was just telling Gash about how-”
“Yes, yes, you can tell me that some other time.” Mr. Dimentid said impatiently. “I need you to go to Recluse City. You should find some Heroes there, about 5 or 6 all together. Do what you do best, then report back to me.” He pressed another button on the screen, and the image of the four Villains disappeared.
The leader of the group, Slash, got up and smiled. “Well, this is what we get paid for.” Slash said, and the four were soon on their way to Recluse City.
All of this time, Risk had been waiting patiently by the door to Mr. Dimentid’s bed chamber, which was adjacent to the room they were in right now. She smiled as Mr. Dimentid got up and joined her.
“Sorry about that.” Mr. Dimentid said, kissing Risk as she opened the door, revealing the luxurious bedroom. “You know I have a lot of work, and it gets in the way.”
“Let’s talk in here.” Risk said seductively, leading Mr. Dimentid into the bed chamber. “You know when you’re with me, you can forget all that, if even for a moment.”
“Right.” Mr. Dimentid said, closing and locking the door behind him. “After all, I know those Heroes in Recluse City almost as much as Lord Recluse does, and they don’t have a chance against my mercenaries. Besides,” He turned back and kissed Risk again. “It’s not like there are any other Heroes we need to worry about.”

“This place is a dump!” Daisy yelled, kicking a can on the filthy street. She turned to Ken. “Why would your girlfriend be in a place like this, anyway?”
“You sure yell a lot for such a little girl.” Dan said, smiling as he leaned against one of the many abandoned buildings in the city.
“DON’T CALL ME THAT!” Daisy yelled, trying to charge Dan but being held back by Ken. “YOU’RE ONLY ONE YEAR OLDER THAN ME, YOU KNOW!”
“One year makes a pretty big difference.” Dan said smugly.
“NO IT DOESN’T!!!” Daisy yelled.
“Please calm down, both of you...” Ken pleaded as he held Daisy.
“In any case, if we’re going to be finding your girlfriend, we’ll cover the most ground if we split up.” Dan said.
“She’s not my girlfriend!” Ken said for the millionth time. He then lowered his head a bit. “Besides... we’re not looking for HER, exactly...”
Dan and Daisy ran over to him and yelled in Ken’s face. “WHAT?!” They both cried.
“What I mean to say is, we’re looking for a group that will be able to find her.” Ken said defensively, trying to calm them down. “There are four Heroes here that should be able to help us, that’s who we’re looking for.”
“Oh, well you should have said that earlier.” Dan said, kicking some dust up on the filthy road they were on. “And here I thought-OOF!”
Dan was fell face-first into the ground as a young woman ran into him as she rounded the corner of the building he was leaning against. She fell down as well, rubbing her back as Ken helped her up.
“HEY! WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING, YOU-” Dan began, getting up quickly. He then stopped as he saw Meltdown. “You... uh...”
“Are you alright?” Ken asked once Meltdown was back on her feet.
Meltdown noticed the swords that Ken and Dan were carrying, and got an idea.
“Oh, you have to help me!” Meltdown said, throwing herself into Ken’s arms, which was quite a surprise for both him and Daisy. “There are Exterminators all over the city after me! Would you two strong Heroes please protect me from them?”
Ken’s face began to redden in embarrassment. Daisy’s face was also reddening. But not from embarrassment.
“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU, YOU LITTLE HUSSY?!” Daisy demanded, dragging Meltdown off of Ken. “AND GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF KEN!!!”
“Oh, my...” Meltdown said, looking at Daisy. She then turned to Ken. “Ken, was it?” She pointed to Daisy. “Who is this crazy girl? She can’t be your girlfriend, can she?”
Daisy’s anger redoubled. “WHY YOU! I’LL KILL YOU, YOU LITTLE-” Her voice was muffled as Dan grabbed her arms and held his hand over her mouth to stop Daisy.
“Don’t mind Daisy, she just gets a little upset when she sees another woman with Ken.” Dan smiled mischievously. “It’s because she secretly loves him.”
Daisy shouted in muffled protest as Dan now found himself under attack. In the meantime, Ken turned to Meltdown.
“What exactly does Lord Recluse want with you?” He asked.
Meltdown gasped in fake shock. “How dare you ask a helpless woman something like that!” She said, folding her arms. “I guess you’re not old enough to know it’s not polite to ask a woman in distress such things!”
Ken sighed. “Fine, we’ll protect you.” He turned to Dan and Daisy.
Dan shrugged. “I guess it would be wrong to leave her to the Exterminators.”
“THAT WITCH CAN ROT FOR ALL-” Dan then lightly tapped her in the shoulder, and Ken looked at her pleadingly. Daisy clasped her hands in anger, then sighed. “FINE! We’ll help her.” She then stuck her tongue out at Meltdown.
“OK, first it would be nice if we knew your name.” Ken said.
Meltdown threw herself into Ken’s arms again. “You can call me Meltdown.” She said, placing her arms around Ken’s neck. “I’m so glad you’re willing to help me! Maybe tonight I’ll show you how much I appreciate your-”
“YOU STAY AWAY FROM HIM, YOU-” Daisy’s outburst was once again stopped by Dan.
“It’s no trouble, really...” Ken said, pushing Meltdown off of him. “Now, how many Exterminators are-” Suddenly, he grabbed Meltdown and jumped to the right, carrying her with him. A grenade exploded where they had been standing a moment later.
“What the...?!” Dan looked around him and noticed over 30 Exterminators coming from all sides as they soon surrounded them. Meltdown stood back to back with Ken as Dan unsheathed his sword. Daisy put up her arms in her fighting stance, looking around nervously at all of their opponents.
“Well, now I can see why she was so scared...” Dan said, looking around the crowd of Exterminators. “I can take on about a dozen of these guys; Ken, how many-”
In that instant, there appeared to be a flash, and then Ken appeared in the air in front of Dan, his sword unsheathed. Looking back at the Exterminators, who hadn’t moved at all, Ken sheathed his sword, and the moment he did so all of the Exterminators fell down, now in two pieces, and then exploded as they hit the ground. Ken then turned back and walked over to Meltdown.
“If Lord Recluse sent so many Exterminators after you, you must be pretty important.” Ken said nicely as Dan, Daisy, and Meltdown stared at him in amazement. “And I’m sure that no matter where you tried to hide, Lord Recluse would find you.” He stared into her eyes. “You will be much safer if we leave you in the protection of the Heroes here in Recluse City.” He led her back to Dan and Daisy. “Lord Recluse will probably send more of his minions once he finds out that his Exterminators have failed.”
He began to walk down the street. He then turned back to Meltdown. “I see that you’re wearing the same uniforms that Recluse’s Elite Soldiers wear.” Meltdown’s gasped as she heard this. “I’d like to know just how you’re associated with Lord Recluse.” He then turned back and began to walk down the street again.
“What... what is he?” Daisy asked, stunned.
To take down all those Exterminators like that... Dan thought. How did he do that?
He’s incredibly strong! Meltdown thought. But... how did he know... this is one of the outfits that Recluse’s Elite Soldiers wear?
“Hey!” Daisy had finally snapped out of her trance. “Wait for me, Ken!” She yelled, running down the street.
Meltdown looked down at the ground, concentrating. But I’ve done such horrible things... Meltdown looked up, tears running down her face. If I tell him the truth... if he knew... She wiped her face clean.
“Hey, what are you still doing standing here?” Dan asked, grabbing her arm. “Are you waiting for Lord Recluse to come after you again? If we don’t catch up with Ken right now, we’re going to be lost in this god-forsaken city!” He began to drag her across the street.
“I can walk by myself, thank you!” Meltdown said sharply, wrenching her arm out of Dan’s grasp and then running down the street.
Dan sighed. “I just don’t understand girls.” He ran after everyone else.

Awesome! I LOVE Meltdown already! The black unitard, spider insignia, green eyes, purple hair - she reminds me of me. I hope she's destined for great things! (I have a black unitard just like that for my dance class. except that the whole middle is cut out and replaced with PowerNet to show the belly. And I'm getting a spider in a web tattoo on my back very soon, and I used to color my hair red and purple, although not anymore, and yes I have green eyes.)

As for Daisy, for a while I thought she and Dan were going to have something goiong on, because of all their bickering, but then, when she got SO JEALOUS of Meltdown ... I just know she's secretly in love with Ken, just like Dan said. LOL

This was a fantastic chapter!!! My favorite so far!
