Does it matter who grabs "blinky" items?

I consider myself a pretty polite guy, so when someone accuses me of some breach of etiquette, I don't take too kindly to it. Part of the problem this time was I just didn't like the way I was told to stop (team window rather than private tell; an order rather than a request; no explanation until I asked why).
That and, as I said above, I think it's a bogus rule. The most compelling reason, I thought, was this bug, which in 1.5 years, I hope would've been fixed. Honestly, in all the time I've played (grabbing other people's blinkies as it were), I've never had a mission or TF derailed. If anything, it was a frustrating 10-20 minute search for a missing blinkie that was bothering my team.
Who the hell are getting SO's from blinkies?! If this is the case and people are getting bent out of shape cause other team members are grabbing them, my advice is do your own damn mission!

Wow! That is some serious thread resurrection there...it could be a new forum record. This thread was from over 1.5 years ago, which means City of Heroes was only two months old.
