Cross Over; Spetsnaz vs First Strike
Frost sighed. This hadn't exactly been a good day, and it didn't look like it would change to the better.
She froze the cog Sly had blown away to the ground, and sent some large chunks of ice against the other attacker, not expecting to do large amounts of damage, just to take a bit of the attention off Fox. When a bolt of electricity slammed against her chest, she realised that it hadn't been her best of ideas.
The operative drew down on the cog before it leapt back over them, into the fray with Jack's summoned assistant. He wasn't accustomed to this sort of back up, and the inactivity grated on him a bit. Jack's casual nature was no help.
He was just about to speak up and suggest they become involved as he saw Icegun go down and the Clockworks begin taking notice of something on the street below. No longer waiting for orders the operative stood and headed to flank the Clockworks as they peered over the edge of the building, firing at someone or something on the street below.
Fortunatly for him, Jack's invisability allowed him to get close to the clocks without them noticing him. As one of the knights drew a bead on the heroes below, he pulled back and planted his combat boot in the center of its back, sending it cascading end over end to the street below, where it crashed with a metalic clang, springs and gears flying off in every direction.
No longer under the protection of Jack's powers, the clocks turned there attention to the operative. A Cog dove at him, causing him to stagger back several feet as he drew something from his belt. The operative shoved the tazer into the back of the clockworks neck, disrupting its system and causing it to spasticly convulse on the ground at his feet.
There were too many of them, and he was in too close to last for long. A short jolt of blue electricity from another cog sent the operative down on one knee before he smashed the butt of his rifle into the little machine's head, decapitating it and sending the body on a staggering, flailing search for its visual sensors. The rest of the clocks swarmed over him, hard metal fingers latching onto him as he went under them in a heap.
At least he had managed to distract them, he thought.
Sly finally broke free from the electrical prison, just in time to see the clocks move from attacking Frost down below to attacking one of his Operatives.
It was that guy who Sly didn't really know, but always handled himself professionally and cool-headed. Well, Sly couldn't let the man fall after getting the attention off him and Frost!
Summoning four apparitions, Sly also extended his arms to give The Operative a burst of Oxygen to clear his mind and wounds a bit. The clocks were focusing on the false heroes for a spell, and he saw one go down, but they would have to begin attacking the remainders before his trick wore off.
Figures Deth would choose to leave RIGHT when it got interesting...
G. Illuminati was new to Paragon. He had wandered around the many dimensions and had finally found Convergence 00. A place where all types of abilities abounded. It was highly unusual that such a place existed. In his 3000 years, he had always thought that it was a myth.
Then he met Deth Aszicen, she had told him where she was from and as he trained her, he began to understand that this was the place that he had been searching for. When she was chosen for the Triad, he knew she would leave him and he started his research on how to get to Convergence 00.
He finally found it and seeing the Rikti had also found it as well, he hopped a ride on one of their transports and entered through one of their portals. Fortunately, he was able to hide from them. Unfortunately, he found that crossing over to this dimension had drained him of all of his powers. He could no longer fly. Exiting the portal, he found that gravity existed here as well and with great force.
'Hey Old Man,' the waitress said. ' You sleeping here or what?'
'Huh? Oh Sorry,' saying as he awoke from him daze, stood and paid for his meal.
The 'Old' man looked to be about 60 with all white hair and gold skin. His outfit matched his hair and skin, with parts seeming organic. The large eye on his chest was the symbol of his supergroup, the Illuminati. He had hoped to have Deth as one of his lieutenants, but she had met this fellow,Slick Rox, who was not unlike himself, that had captured her heart and joined his group. It was not hard to feel jealous, but it was more in a father losing daughter way.
He walked out and stepped forward just in time. As he stepped forward, the remnants of a clockwork sprocket landed where he was. Looking up, he began the climb up fire escape. He really missed flying. He loved swooping in on his opponents like the American (?) eagle.
He made it to the top of the building and he saw numerous bodies, flesh and mechanical. Some of the bodies seemed injured. Deciding who would be friend and foe, he called up the forces that be and sent waves of replenishing energy over the crowd. He saw that no one seemed too bad, except for the blond man in red and white.
'Hmmm, it is you Slick Rocks. Again I must give you part of my life.' He mumbled something that sounded like 'From my life to yours' and placed his hand on the mans arms. G felt the wounds from the man transfer to him and he saw the man awaken.
G stood and popped his aching back.
'Maybe, I am an old man.'
As Sly Fox started to get up, G looked around and saw the Lady Frost. Thinking about Cursion 24 and the ice women there, he was about to introduce himself to her. However, he looked over Sly Fox's shoulder and saw a towering hunk of metal land on the roof which groaned under the weight.
Yelling 'Duck!' at Sly Fox, creating a ball of electrical toward them. However, the 'Duck' may have been muffled by the sound of the ball.
At this moment, G felt a metal hand hit him in the small of the back and he went down to a knee, so he did not see the results of his attack on the metal beast.
'That hurts.'
Jack, still sitting and chewing his gum watched the little constructs pile on top of the opperative before him. He pointed and snapped his fingers at the opperative not 5 feet away. Green and blue force arched from the operative in a bubble that expanded outwards faster then the eye could properly see, with it the clockwork were pushed back and flung to the sides: some were thrown off the top of the building, still others landed on the roof a safe distance away.
Jack's face wore a mask that nearly read aloud "why would you go and do that?"
A heavy sigh and a planted hand were the precursors to Jack taking to his feet again to brush Sullivan off. "Listen kiddo, I understand you're ancy. Next time say something. If you want to get into the fray..." Jack trailed off seeing Frost and Sly below as well as the one neighbor he avoided and another man he was unfamiliar with. "Ok I get it..." Jack once again trailed off before giving an excited motion with both arms, "We save the day! Right!"
Jack waved both arms outward and engulfed the two men in a shield of moving force and energy. Jack turned his attention to the Clockwork still on the roof and shook his hand in a grabbin motion, a handfull of ghostly figures appeared and immediately engaged the clockwork along with the construct.
Satisfied, Jack turned to look back over the edge of the building to the chaos below. "Fire on my targets, just like you did before while I was at Garment Works."
Jack waved his hand violently and the first flash of light engulfed a Cog below.
Icegun shook his head clear. The oxeygen blast from Fox helped, rolling over on his back he saw the new participant get knocked down by the clockwork. Whipping his assualt rifle up he set of the shot. THOOOP Icegun realized that he still had the weapon set on grenade launcher. The grenade hit the automaton in the head and knocked it off but did not go far enough to activate it. The clockwork continued to swing widly as the head landed on the pavement with the grenade imbedded in its head. Icegun switched the rifle back to semi auto and started to put rounds in the chest of the clockwork knocking away from the newcomer. Moving forward as he fired he switched to shotgun as the clockwork got to the edge. "Heads Up " Icegun yelled as he blasted the clockwork off the roof. Turning around he looked for his next target.
'Boys, please tell your boos that it is not nice to keep a lady waiting. Especially when she is going to offer services. '
Deth jumped into the air and hovered. Assuming a reclining position, she hovered a few feet in the air, in front of the door. She started debating the voices in her head about the fate of humanity.
The operative nodded quietly at Jack and rolled over to where his rifle laid. He quickly slung the multi-weapon over his back and drew the rife up, taking sight on Jack's target.
The crack split the air and a fist sized hole appeared in the small Cog's face. In a smooth motion he drew back the bolt, expelled the shell and raised the rifle back to his shoulder, scanning for his next target.
Contact emerged a from the offices a few moments later, summoned to the front again by one of his Operatives. This was proving to be an excedingly busy day.
"Yes, Ma'am, what can I do for you," Contact said, regarding Deth from behind his slightly darkened lenses
OOC Sorry... I missed this post initially, thanks for point it out
Deth looked Contact up and down. Strangely, although he was a handsome man, she felt that he was most like a brother to her. That is the main reason that she was here
today. She respected him and knew that Sly Fox did as well.
She knew that she was doing pretty well on her own but felt that the family of friends that she had within the FSS would be better for her. She felt that in the near future she would need them. She did not realize how much.
She removed her hat and shades, something she rarely did for anyone. Her eyes were clear, without the normal smokiness, and a deep cocoa brown. At first, she started speaking in a barely audible voice, talking to the ground, as if intimidated by Contact.
'Hello, Contact. I have always appreciated how you tried to help me in the past. I know that you are a good man and I feel that I would like to associate myself with an organization that is such. I have done alright myself but seeing as many of the people that I call friends are working for you, I felt that I would see if you had an opening with my skills. I figure that you know more about me than any other boos could know and I figure that could be a plus since you will know what you might be getting into. I hope that you will consider me as an applicant if you have any openings.'
She took a deep breathe as she had said that all in one. She hoped that he would consider her, as she needed the family, since she really had not had one for 10 years. She hoped that her fondness for Sly Fox, would not prevent her from being considered. Looking up to Contact, she did not realize it, but the girl that had skipped adolescence to become an adult, was looking up at him.
Hope filled her eyes and face.
As the seconds, limped by a minute passed and she saw he was comtemplating severely the ramifications
She looked down as a tear filled her eye as she felt for sure that no matter how much he liked her, he would consider her a liability to his company and an unprofitable risk. The tear dropped to the ground and evaporated in a puff of blue smoke. She shifted on her foot, beginning to turn away, prepared to hear his answer to her back, where he could not see the pain of denial and loss.
(OOC I had to let my business degree show through some. )
Contact looked at Deth for a long moment, folding his hands behind his back neatly. He did know her pretty well, and she was a bit at war with herself... even though she showed surprising control. It would also be interesting to see how Fox reacted if he hired her... He mused his over as she moved to turn away.
"Deth," Contact put his hand lightly on her shoulder, stopping her. "I'm sorry but... I see many assignments involving Fox and you in your future." He smiled at her.
"I've been waiting for your application. Come inside and we'll get you squared away."
The twinge of boredom had fallen over Galactic Jack's face a while ago. No longer did he swing impressive arcs with his arms to accompany the brilliant flashes of light that, accompanied by the help of the other heroes, had slowly turned the clockwork into piles of scrap. Instead he sat with his back mostly turned to the battle and listened to the loud crash of the rifle next to him as he merely snapped his fingers to the same, if not less dramatic effect as his large arm movements. The loud ping of the shells falling to the concrete slabs on the roof timed each of his snaps.
Finally, he snapped his giners and turned his head. He snapped a few times before bothering to look over the building's ledge to find the road below a mess of scrap metal. He brushed off his uniform as he stood in one fluid movement and then walked over to the pile of wreckege the other hero had left on the roof. A pile slightly larger the the others gifted Jack a small cylinder similar to the one Frost had destroyed earlier. Giving it a small toss in his hand he finally spoke after all the gunfire and crash of super powers.
"Well, that should do it. Looks mostly the same anyways."
Deth walked out of the HQ a new minted member of the FSS.
She was glad she had made the decision. It had not taken long to fill out the paperwork. Much of it was already filled out as if in preparation for her. She had added her personal information and signed in the proper places. She had most of her money deposited in an off shore account. She knew she would not be spending that much of it her.
She went to the uniform fitting office and her measurements were taking. In no time at all, she was outfitted with a new FSS uniform of blue and white. She like it but felt that it was more form fitting than her other one and was sure that Fox had put in a special order for if she ever decided to join.
She walked out an as she did, she glanced at her reflection in the glass.
'Nice. His mouth will hit the floor.'
Calling Him on the com, ' Sly Fox. Please provide your location and if you require back up.'
'Wha?,' he said as he saw her on the comm. 'Your in FSS colors. Did you join?'
Ignoring him, 'Where are you?'
He transmitted his coordinates and to the tram she teleported.
Sly saw Icegun go down, so he immediately blinded the assaulting Knight... as the walking Timex Add clutched it's sensors in confusion, Sly leant Icegun a boost of Oxygen to revive him.
However, the Cog that had been with the Knight did not apporive of the treatment it's superior had received, obviously, as it landed right on top of Fox.
Reaching up and grabbing it by the... head... thing... Sly yanked and rolled the Cog off him, somersaulting as he fell and thumping the Cog down in front of him.
"It's not nice to jump a complete stranger! At least yell 'dogpile' first, next time..." Throwing out his hands he sent the Cog flying with a gale of wind.
Then Sly turned back to Icegun. However, that was when a blast of electricity and a ball of energy surrounding the would be rescuer ceased any plans he had to see if Icegun was alright.
