Quote:Apparently I type my posts in Greek, no matter how many times I state that a cut-off date is not a good enough excuse to bar an entire team of new, roster ready players from playing, people just seem to keep throwing it at me. On top of: "X person advertised to every member of the community, this was advertised here, that was advertised there".All I know is there was a cut-off date and the first matches started last weekend. I believe they're discussing having anyone that wants to sign up as a free agent is going to be out there to be drafted. That's a wait and see and up to them really.
Artic really did go around and post to the active PvP community and let them know it was going on and all were welcome to sign up. I have no qualms with anyone of whatever level of experience participate, the more the better and I can guarantee you the majority of this league feel the same way.
Clearly not enough advertisement was done, as every single player from my team had no idea about the existence of this league prior to my bringing it up to them. And I myself had no idea about it either. Face it, the idea of bringing in an entirely new team happened after a deadline, but that fact alone does not defeat the benefit of having at least 10 new players (at least) join the league. -

Re-add my global, Meph. Virtue's been my home for a few years now, and I'm always RPing/teaming.

Quote:I'm sure that the team I would be fielding would have no problem taking a ranking penalty. I'm not going to agree that one is necessary, but it isn't something that I myself, or anyone else on my team would fight.I'd welcome another team, just so there's more people, it will only help things in the end and keep the dwindling PvP community active. Even if the team came in with some kind of penalty in the rankings for joining late. I think restricting access to players, even if it's because it's against the rules is detrimental to the PvP community and will only help lead to the inevitable death of PvP.
Unfortunately, even now, a clear reason outside of "you didn't have your **** together" (see: bull ****)hasn't been presented that convinces me that locking out a full, competitive team is a wise solution in an attempt to foster and increase the player-base.
Also, enforcing a 4 ready/4 draft rule is ridiculous as well. The notion that restricting a team to a certain number of pre-determined players will "spread the wealth" has been attempted in server leagues older than half of the accounts participating in this active Champion League.
The TPvPL, IPvPL & FPvPL featured some form of a draft and a notable skill gap was still present. A skill gap exists in nearly every form of competition. There has to be a bottom, and there has to be a top.
Player-versus-Player has always been about winning. It's a competition. To sit and pretend that those that are participating do not want to win is ridiculous.
What I find interesting is that the "elite" PvPers always attempted to foster PvP while maintaining their competitive environment. That is to say, a new player was always welcome to attend a practice, but in order to earn their spot on a team, they had to earn it.
Creating limits and telling players who they can and who they cannot play with will leave a bad taste in that person's mouth.
Players dropped from the FPvPL for a variety of reasons. Many that I spoke with said that they frankly didn't enjoy the system. Others were conflicted due to the active practice schedules that most teams were attempting to follow. I did not, however, run into one player that cited irreconcilable differences with the league (or any league I've participated in, for that matter) because the skill margin was too far out of wack. -
Quote:Allowing an entirely seperate team to join generates more competition then dispersing players amidst already existing teams. We werent being restrictive. We offerd them to join free agents, like everyone else at that point in the sign ups. They declined.
There is no difference between allowing them to seperate and join different teams and allowing those same players to join as an entirely new team. Especially since you have not begun to do official matches yet for ranking.
Therefore, you are being restrictive. -

Pretty sure they reduced the noise level on the Sonic attacks, and you can change the animations in the costume editor.
Sonic/Pain is fine. Go with Rad/Pain if you really want an alternative. -
Quote:Being reasonable isn't sitting there blatantly telling me I'm wrong and that I did not apply when I'm telling you without a shadow of a doubt that I did, and did not receive access to the PvP forums where I could continue discussion regarding a new team entering the league.I'm trying to be reasonable about this with you here.
What name did you apply to the GP under and what date?
It was a simple statement that was made to Phillygirl, definitely not you. When she pondered as to why I had not received the necessary access, you only answered the question posts later.
So no, definitely not "reasonable".
Bear in mind that I'm not asking for access anymore when everything is being openly discussed here in this forum. And I certainly don't expect for a new team to be allowed entry into the league, despite all signs pointing to the outcome generating more competition, which (in an environment like this) is conducive to the continuation of competitive PvP in this game (which is one of this league's goals).
I was simply stating a fact, and you were simply butting in, erroneously might I add. -
So you think that gaming would be better without the 2D/3D fighters like the Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken & Virtua Fighter series? You think it would be better without Quake, Half Life & Source?
That's not even beginning to mention the fact that online gaming has come as far as it has on account of competitive gaming as well.
There is trollin' afoot. -
Quote:Welcome! App Submitted to C.A.P.E.No, Sir...
You are wrong.
Had you applied to the site you would be able to see the PVP forums up until Cherry changed the permissions of the PVP section.
As I said, you never applied.
We have never denied anyone access to the site, only thing we have done is change permissions so those that were interested in only PVE activities would not be bothered with the posts from the PVP section.
Sorry, you seem to feel so hurt and upset about this.
Is sitting in my inbox on Guildportal. But I never applied.
Okay. You're still wrong. -
Quote:Silit and I would have to apply through Guildportal in order to be given any sort of access. I wouldn't say that we weren't given access if we didn't apply. No applicant to the C.A.P.E. Guild Portal has been denied access.
The answer is simple, he never applied.
I did not receive access to any forum involving the PvP league.
Your simple answer was wrong. Whoops. -
Quote:I just came back to the game not that long ago.Sigh ups were there for a month. If you guys cant get your stuff together and join in a timely manner, thats on you, not any of us. Everyone else, including the list of 40+ free agents followed the rules. There is no reason you should be above them.
Considering you say youre from THIS server and there had been more than adequate advertising of this league, there REALLY is no excuse that you couldnt pull it together on time.
Telling me that I had a month and that I should have "had my **** together" isn't a good enough reason to bar more competition from entering your league and increasing your numbers. If the entire point is to generate interest in PvP and create a successful league, wouldn't adding an additional team of new players do just that?
Have any of the current teams made the arguement that allowing a new team to enter would be some sign of "favoritism"? Or are you just making this:
Quote:There is no reason you should be above them.
This has nothing to do with being "over" anyone, and I'm pretty sure you're the only person that's remotely close to making an arguement of that nature.
And what do you consider "adequate" advertising?
The Freedom league received advertising when players started up City of Heroes, and we still re-opened rosters halfway through the season in order to let more players in. -

Quote:Fair enough. However, we were denied entry as a team, so that point still stands. No attitude just facts. You said no reason was given and there was one given. You said you where denied access to playing in the league, and you weren't you just didn't want to play unless it was together.
I personally could have cared less if they allowed you guys to join I don't think it would have hurt things since there is a massive imbalance in the skill levels of the teams. You would have given artic and libs team some competition.
Outside of a roster date lock, IQ (speaking on my behalf since myself nor Silit haven't been given access to the proper CAPE forums) was pushing to see why another team couldn't join. There's really nothing saying that we can't outside of an invisible lock that can easily be bent due to officials not having started yet.
I believe Lib already said that he had no problem with another team stepping in. -
Quote:Have officials taken place yet? Have rankings been established?A reason was given there was a deadline for sign ups for teams of 8 and you missed it. IQ (who is on a team already so) was told they would add you guys to free agents list so that one of the struggling teams could get help. He posted that if you couldn't join as a team of 8 you weren't interested. So no you weren't denied play in the league.
If your league official has that much of a headache navigating the organization of teams prior to officials starting that an entirely new roster full of players cannot be added, it seems like the rumors I'm hearing about the league falling apart aren't far from the truth.
Whether or not IQ is on a team really doesn't matter. You can cut the attitude, cutiepie. It doesn't look good on you. -
Someone said that PvP would return to Infinity when server transfers were first announced.
Aside from the IPvPL, that **** didn't happen. -
Quote:You specifically highlighted the entirety of Shay's post when you quoted it, illustrating that you were attempting to avoid "elite pvpers" coming back to dominate. If that wasn't the case, you wouldn't have highlighted it. I'm simply responding to that in kind.Originally Posted by ShaytanahWell, a lot of the players have been PvP'ing for quite a while. Personally I don't care about skill levels, who wins, who loses, who is leet. I care about having a blast with a bunch of cool people, getting the adrenaline pumping, and having a massive, sh*t-eating grin when I log for the night. This PvP league has, so far, accomplished all of that for me.
This makes it win and nothing less.
I'm also referencing the fact that another team with a completely full & ready roster has been denied access to play in the league, with no plausible reason given as to why they cannot be allowed access, when entry into the league would help foster further competition and increase the league's numbers. This alone, in an environment where PvP has been steadily dying issue after issue, can be seen as a good thing. -
Quote:usedtobegood is a team of players, Myrm.Vindizzle, be a good old chap and fix that sign in your signature, if you don't mind. It says "Champions" when it should say "Champion".
Not sure if you're being sarcastic (one never knows with you), but "THE LEAGUE" was originally held on Freedom last year. The team I played for won the aforementioned league decisively. -
Quote:Going back and reversing i13 isn't going to happen. I imagine that will take manpower away from what could be spent developing new content + fixing old content.PvP is broken and is in need of repair.
Lets start small; remove HD, TS , repair shield resistance. Global resistance against all damage types is LAZY.
Remind us why Blasters used to be called Glass Canons.
Then lets talk about repairing Psi.
cheers,
To be perfectly honest, I'm okay with that now.
Again, fixing PvP is a nice dream, but that's all that it is. -
