It's the principle of the thing. Nothing pathetic about standing up for yourself and refusing to let people bully you with thier ideas.

Quote:Wanting changes to the game that facilitates your playstyle is a far cry from initiating attacks on others because they do not share that playstyle.Multiple accounts does not make subscription numbers misleading in the slightest.
While it is a reason, I seriously doubt that it is the chief reason for someone to have multiple accounts.
There have been a number of improvements to the leveling speed, such that getting to 50 doesn't take all that long, even without PLing. I recall on a Double XP weekend I took a new character from 1 to 50 in just 3 days by simply playing on teams. No PLing required. Then there's people with a newfangled thing called "patience" who don't care how long it takes to reach 50. They may only play a couple hours a week, but they don't mind how many months it takes them to reach 50 on a new character.
Considering the number of arguments over PLing I've witnessed, I would say your conclusion is inaccurate. The fault lies on both sides of the fence. On one side is people against PLing, who try to convince the PLers to stop. On the other side is people in favor of PLing, who try to convince the developers to make changes that make PLing easier and more attractive. While you don't generally see the PLer crowd saying "you should play the game my way!", what you generally do see is, in my opinion, worse: "the game should change so that my way is even better!"
So if trying to convince you to change playstyle is disrespectful and "really freakin' pathetic", what is complaining about it on an internet forum, if not "even more pathetic"?
Remember, kids, it's all pretendy fun time games -
Quote:Hey...I was just fine. Go back and check my posts over the last several days...since I got back I've posted a number of questions and responses...engaging in a free exchange of ideas with several people. It wasn't until a few people came into this thread and started telling me what was best for me and how I should play the game that I had a problem.Except that s/he wasn't rude.
I mean no disrespect. However, if you're going to be overly sensitive, it's best to reevaluate yourself before entering the game. You'll be ruining a lot of people's good times by insisting the world is ruining your good time.
Edit: And no, I'm not being rude. I promise. It's all about how you read someone's post.
In a situation such as this, If someone doesn't like a given approach to the game, all that's necesarry is to leave the thread, and go on about thier way. I got some really good advice from some people, but others didn't take the above approach...they decided to stop and take the time to tell me how wrong I was...one even goign so far as to suggest the thread shold be deleted. They could've simply left the thread and moved on...but they stayed to give me ****...yet I'm the one with the "attitude problem,"...laughable -
Quote:..and perhaps you haven't been around long enough to know someone can still be rude even WITH a smile.Perhaps the smilies are not working on your screen...
I saw no criticism in Scarlet Shockers post, but merely stated that playing the game and having fun will offer you the success you had asked about.
Welcome back to the game.
Here's a helpful recommendation, check the attitude at the door because if you expect criticism, you'll likely see it even where none was intended.
sigh...you'll learn...eventually...hopefully -
Quote:Finally! My thanks to you Dispari for giving a very helpful answer to my question without feeling the need to give me crap instead! Hopefully, we'll get teh opportunity to team together some time!Depends a lot on what you're shooting for.
If you're looking for regular drops, +0/x8 will allow you the fastest kills while still allowing you to get level 50 recipes.
If you're looking for purples, -1/x8 will let you kill faster at the expense of getting level 49 recipes, but still be able to get purples.
If you're looking for influence or AE tickets, +2/x8 is a fast kill speed. The tickets are tied to enemy level.
If you're looking for experience, +2/x8 is again a fast kill speed. In running some teams I noticed that we could occasionally bump up to +3/x8 if we had enough support and damage. But +4/x8 just slowed us down because it took so long to kill the badguys.
If you're someone like a Stalker who excels against single enemies but not in groups, you may consider doing stuff like +3/x2 or +4/x1.
Since most of us grew up in the "heroic to invincible" era, I tend to shoot for +2/x1 and let team size control the number of foes. +2 is a fine setting that most teams can and should be able to handle.
I also just realized: how long until people don't know what I'm talking about when I say "heroic" or "relentless" ? -
The numbers about how many subscribers COX has is highly misleading, because many of those are from people hacing MULTIPLE accounts. The chief reason for multiple accounts is that it facilitates PL'ng. If PL'ng were comepletely erradicated, a truckload of accounts would vanish and this game would either die off or be SEVERELY crippled in terms of new content, improvements, etc. because of a vastly reduced revenue stream. Most people (assuming they don't just play the same old toons all the time) simply do not have the time it would take to level every character up from scratch (and no...I'm not necessarily advocating PL'ng a toon all the way to 50). For someone to have THAT much time on their hands would be pretty sad actually because his/ her life is missing something...a job...girlfirend...attending to their family...etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not in favor of 50s runnign around with people that have no clue how to play them, but I do not feel I owe anyone an apology because I don't want to play through the same early-level growing pains every time I make something new. Doing so would be monotonus (I probably spelled that wrong, but oh well). That kind of monotony would also drive people away from the game.
What really kills me when the whole farming/PL'ng issue comes up is that You never (or atleast I never have) see people who PL/farm telling those who don't how to play the game because the feeling largely is that, if they don't want to handle it that way, that's their choice. It's the Anti-PL'ers / Anti-farmers who are the ones consistently trying to shove their viewpoint down someone else's throat. Some of the last few posts are a case in point...I asked a question about how to expedite teh leveling of toons on my second account. If someone is unable or unwilling to offer good advice on the subject, that's all well and good, but when someone stops and takes the time to give me *&%# for a playstyle that's different than thiers, THAT is disrespectful...and really freakin' pathetic. -

I have a second account now, which will allow the money to come in much faster...alogn with more salvage, which will allow more IOs to be built, etc.
Because of that, I want to create a personal base...nothing fancy...just a place to store salvage, crafted IOs, and a table on which to craft them. I'm not concerned about alot of decorations or anything, and I can live without teleporters.
Can someone provide me with info regarding how much prestige I'm going to need to do this?
Also...maybe a basic "shopping list" for doing so? -
hmmm...out of all that stuff, I'm wondering what the best recipe for success is.
-
Any suggestions for which missions / arcs would be optimal for this?
-
So is levelling up a toon on a second account harder or easier nowadays?
Please don't flame me for "runining the game with powerlevelling." Minus several hiatuses, I've been around a long time (I3). I just don't want to spend alot of time going through the same wearly-level gwoign pains everytime I make a new toon...or spend all that time to figure out the toon's not goign to work the way I had envisioned. -
Thanks
I was just thinking...one of the things I'm wanting to know is isit necessarry for a lowbie to stay with the mentor now, odr is there a difference in xp if he does/doesn't? -
I've been away for several months, so could someone explain to me how the new SK'ng rules work please?
I decided to open a second account this time around, but I'm wondering if it's even useful (in terms of levelling up toons faster) like it used to be. -
Thanks. I've meant to make a thermal corruptor...what do you suggest to pair with it?
Also...a recommendations for blue side? -
I want to build a solid PVP toon(s), but I don't have MEGA-millions to do it (though I am starting a second account that should help with my cash flow).
I'd really appreciate suggestions for ATs and builds that would allow me to be competetive on a reasonable budget -
A couple of questions:
1. You say to set to a low number like 3...what's the normal setting?
2. I'm assuming that everytime I log into the game everything's defaulted to the normal setting, and that I need to enter that command whenever I log into the second account?
Thanks for the info so far guys -
I wasn't sure. I'm not a hardware guy so much. Thanks for the input though

hey guys, I want to run two accounts well, but I don't want to break the bank to do it. My motherboard's a Gigabyte Ultra Durable 2, a 512Mb 8600 GTand I'm currently running a 2.4 Ghz dual core with 4G of ram.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated -
That's true. I hadn't thought of that. I'd appreciate a build that can get me to the cap then.
-
Can someone help me out with an Invul. build that can get me as close to Tank levels as possible (without purples if possible)
Thanks
