dell is ok.. I have 2 lets tops from them and my GF uses the low end one to play the game on.

personal I would say looking at what you posted 3 systems. Last one is the best but I dont like the all in one solutions.

advice:
64bit windows
2gigs Ram is fine, if you want more buy it from the Egg for better quality
Video card you will want 512M memory at least. (I have a 4650 card in one of my spare machines and the CoX splash screen makes it look like the game crashed with video problem - rest of the time it works like a charm).

reason ppl have issues with dell is they use refurbished parts. If you have to have something replaced it will be refurbished (new laptop drive died on me the 2nd day, replacement was a refurb drive .. I replced the drives with my own since then).

1st Budget or your son might end up with a computer better than yours.

I am sure the systems post last year are still good, but if you lost the specs then it falls backs to budget

I was able to pull a Quad Processor system with 12Gigs of ram for less than 700.oo (using some old parts)

was on a ITF this weekend and it happened to us. Most of us looked at Amy and did the WTF & lolz. Then we Shoved her back into the bottle wince she came.

scary part i seen most of them at one time or another .. and since i14, I seen even less of ping (might be because I been holding up to my name a bit).

Ok now I know the issue with it working comes in play and remimber for the life of me .. do this work with the on board video card?

what is the bios version ... I also read that they really didnt have any bios updated for this at all so you might be on the newest version

you can build a nice system for under 350.oo if you get a job and pull your B-day money together.

I am like BA, if a system can run why not use it. only time I had a slot go out on me was when I didnt change the tubing on a water cooled system, it leaked and well just not working now.

take out the new video card and does it post (start up and screen activity) with the on board video card?

On I would guess the on board video card is turned back on and is causing the problem.

I would agree that its BS saying the Nvidia chipset doesnt like ati and its an issue because the card powered.

Powered cards are there because they need more power to give you the processing power to draw the high end graphics and has nothing to do with compatiblity with the slot. But can come from a AGP revision issue. I have not looked at AGP specs since I dropped my last AGP system years ago.

my guess is the guy looked at the age of the system and doesnt want to put a lot of time into it.

Yes we know each other outside the game and she does add the same amount of greaf to teh Old Tank as everyone else has.

it is pce-ex and since you have a Gforce MX4 card you have an AGP slot so it will not work

After the Graphics update a few issues ago, that card JUST BARELY meets minimum requirements. In fact, I think they may have even removed it from thier list of compatible hardware.

I'm guessing you have an AGP system (since I've never heard of a 4 MX in PCI-Express) I suggest an upgrade. go here and pick out a graphics card. EVEN THE LOWEST PRICED one in that list is better than the 4 MX.
Of course, this one is probably the best bang for the buck and it will even fit if you have a low profile case.

Trust me, skip a night or 2 of take-out or pizza for dinner and use that money to get a graphics card. You won't regret it!
