Ironik - while I don't think many people believed you were expressing a genuine opinion, it really was in kinda poor taste; I don't mean that to be hard on you, but its true. Over the internet, it's utterly impossible to determine intent, as such, ones words, and ones words alone are what they are judged on. Thus the same sentence, read by two different individuals, will sound quite different.

Further - I think you're underestimating TA's problem. Situations like this are rarely as cut and dried as they initially appear - and while most people don't know it, one can be addicted (quite literally) to almost anything. In this respect, I think that's what's being dealt with here. Surely it's not as severe as say, an alchohol problem, but nevertheless, taking care of one's personal issues is difficult, and when its a personal issue that happens to have broad scope, it is more difficult as it affects more people than oneself.

On the flipside, Sassy, I understand completely why you'd take offense - but it is helpful, as much as possible, to try to discern intent before nailing someone over it. I don't think it's wrong of you to want to feel respected, and its very true that under the guise of 'humor', many cruel things have been said. "Humor" can be an excuse as much as anything.

Regardless though, it's best not to assume nefarious intent; as such an assumption will, more often than not, land one in trouble; as things are rarely as bad as they initially seem. Don't take crap - certainly not, but try to hold the hammer back a bit and examine things closely before swinging, lest you break something you may regret breaking later.

I know I just got back, and I really don't wanna piss anyone off; but I also think that this is an important time for TA, and I'd really rather not have that interfered with over a case of misunderstanding. Hopefully no one's gonna hate me for saying things this way, but sometimes I just gotta say what I gotta say.

I just picturte everyone as their main character or Avatar as my starting point and then go from there based on interactions

besides its rarely important enough to me personally to worry about it Mistform Squirell for example is adoreably cute imo regardless of his actual realworld gender and I always visualize
my conversations taking place with a cute yet high strung anthromorphic squirell girl that is ever so slightly translucent .

I guess the only times folks should really worry is if they are forming real world attachments and love intrests with a fictional character composed of polygons and engaging in naughty tells in which case you likely want to know if Tank Vixen Bambi is played by a lonely housewife or Joe the burley construction worker

I have had to make... a difficult decision as of late. I'm using this thread since I want to bump it so it may still be here when I return - but anyway - I am taking a break as of today. I may still be around on the forums a liiiiitle bit. But it's not likely.

I *will* be back - this isn't an "I'm leaving" of any sort really >.> but as has been my habit since I started CoH, I sometimes burn the hell out and find myself just needing time 'somewhere else'.

So I'm going to be jumping back into Dark Age of Camelot - a game I played many years ago, and the place where Yumii originated from. Because it's a game I played way-back-when, I'm doubtful I'll play for more than a couple months, so I expect I'll be back reasonably soon actually. But I wanted to let you all know >.>

I do think I will be working on my Deviant Art site in the next few days too - nothing new to put up there yet, (I'm mistharm over there if anyone is curious) - but I'll put up all my old stuff, and that way I'll have a place to keep in contact with people from here.

I'm going to say this once, and I'm going to say it as nicely as I can.

This isn't off topic - nor is it quite on topic - it's an inbetweener (as are many of our topics). Our devs are, quite obviously, CoH-related - on the other hand, other MMOs aren't.

However; you may have noticed the following things:

A) General is under the "For Fun" heading.

B) There is a very specific Technical Issues forum.

C) This was a fun thread - in fact it still can be.

D) Finally - Yes, it is in fact only OK to jack certain threads. If you jack a whiny "i'm leaving *insert randomness here*" thread to make something fun out of it - then more power to you. If you jack a fun thread like this so you can start griping about something that can be griped about in a more effective place - that's bad.

There's more to it than all that, but I'll sum it up real simple like:

This section of the boards is intended to be at least to some degree /fun/ - rather than for major, serious, heavy duty discussions. It doesn't always stay fun - but for the love of all that is semi-holy when you see people getting along and having a *gasp* GOOD TIME - don't rain on their parade because you just have to be Mr. Black Raincloud, ok?

As for your problem - I haven't crashed more than 5 times since CoV came out. I'm not kidding you. The thing that made the difference for me? New memory. I don't know why, but ever since I haven't crashed hardly at all in CoH. Mapserving too is really low except on rare occassions. So it may not hurt to check your own end as well.
