  1. Resurrecting a thread is only stupid when the info is outdated and no longer valid. In regards to using controllers, everything in this thread still works. AND it's not like there are very many threads out there about xbox controllers, so your point is moot and your post is useless.
  2. Hi all. I'm trying to set up my joystick so that I rarely ever need to touch the mouse/keyboard. I've got a pretty simple setup but I can't help but think it could be better.

Currently, I have that old 12 button logitech controller that looks like a playstation controller.

I use the right stick to move, the left to turn and look. Then I use buttons 1-10 to correspond to powers 1-10 in my power tray. So if I press the 3 button, it activates the number 3 power in my tray.

The only exception is the #2 button, because I use that for jumping. So basically I can activate 9 powers without using the keyboard/mouse.

I have 2 problems with this setup:

    1. 9 powers is not enough. Once I get to higher levels I find myself needing to use the mouse quite often to activate powers in my 2nd tray. Is there a way to maybe bind the #7 button to behave like the CTRL key? So that way when I need, for example, power #3 in my 2nd tray, I can just hold down the 7 button, and press the 3 button simultaneously.

    2. There are some powers, like caltrops, that require you to click a spot on the ground where you'd like the power to start. Is there a way to make these powers just activate in a default spot so I don't have to mouse click? Like 6 feet directly in front of your hero? And what about clicking on doors and contacts? Is there any way to do that with the controller or do we HAVE to use the mouse for those things?

Any help with these issues would be appreciated. As well as any other joystick advice you guys may have that I haven't mentioned yet.
  3. Thanks guys, willpower stalker it is then!

So am I right about only VIP's getting IO's?
  4. Oh forgot that I'll probably be doing zone PVP instead of arena PVP. And will likely be teaming with only one other hero, who will be a Super strength/Fire Brute with AOE attacks.
  5. Hi all,

I've tried PVP very briefly in other games but always got brutally murdered because I never planned my build. I always just took whatever power looked "fun" at the moment.

Well a buddy of mine finally convinced me to give it a shot in COV, so I came here and started reading threads but my head started spinning there was so much info here. It's overwhelming.

So, I don't want to learn everything at once, but can someone just point me in the right general direction for building a good PVP villain? Also, which ones are completely useless in PVP?

Also, I will most likely be playing for free, so I'm not sure if that means I'll get my butt handed to me by all the VIP's or not. Cuz it sounds like VIP's get IO's (whatever those are).

but regular 360 controllers don't have 16 buttons. I don't have an old S type xbox controller lying around, and even if I did, I'm not about to do all this cutting and splicing, but I do want a controller with more than the 10 buttons on my logitech. So far I've not been able to find something suitable.
