  1. all I can say is....

    OMG!!!!!!!!

    uhm.... oh boy....

My friends are going to go ballistic when they see the new issues!

    I like it!!!!!!!!!!

But oh man that sux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
  2. Man, I am seeing some really cool movie titles... I am beginning to think mine was lame....

  3. I have been a roleplayer since I was 12. I am now a 37 yr old mother of two. I STILL roleplay. I rolplay in this game

Having said that.... I would have to say that what happened to the original poster in that particular TF....

    WAS NOT ROLEPLAYING!!!

If you would like to experience what most roleplayers consider roleplay, look for Psylanna, a mutated mind/kin controller, who hopes the NY state marshalls don't find her, or Scaryb, a magic illusion/storm controller, who is over 3000 yrs old, and has just recently been reawakened to the world, and so doesn't recognize many of the things (ways) around her.

Or Daemonara... a emp/psy blast defender that worked her way out of Hell (having been dlieberately placed where she didnn't belong) and is taking her revenge against the people who sent her there in the first place!

Most roleplayers are actually quite entertaining to be around. We tend to pull others into our fold, because we get into the personalities and BECOME our characters, with their ideas, desires, flaws, and all I play on Guardian.

Can we go too far? I don't think so.. since in a sense each person that logs on to this game is roleplaying to a certain extent. Think about it... how many times in a given day do you see someone wearing spandex fighting a mugger?
  4. I actually posted my first fan fiction one one of these threads. I thought it was pretty good ( prolly more than 1500 words) and I was hoping for comments....

as yet, I have seen some people have viewed it, but no one has made any comments about it (course I haven't looked in a few days, so there might be something now).

My main concern is that I would like to at least have SOME feedback stating that they have received what I have sent. It wouldn't be hard.... could be an automated message.

Also, a quick email to those writers that have been accepted for publication, would be great!
  5. Well, this is my attempt at fan fiction... I sent this off to the comics, but I wanted to see how it was received here. Please post your thoughts, feelings

    Window to the Past

Once again, it comes down to this. A battle for all that is good in Paragon City. It started out simple enough, a chance for my friends and I to earn the right to honor the great Hero 1. A chance to wear capes like the famous Omega Team.

It was supposed to be an easy mission. Mighty Sword, Melphie and I had apparently proven our worth to Paragon City. The city representative offered us a chance to honor Hero 1 with a cape we could wear to remember them, and the battles they fought for the city and her people. All we had to do was learn the history of Hero 1, and talk to the people whose lives he touched.

It was easy talking to Paco Sanchez, after all, he was one of my first contacts, and I kept in touch after I moved on to the darker and more dangerous parts of Paragon.

His eyes lit up when he saw me. "Psylanna! still saving the world, I see. " He smiled. I introduced him to my friends, MIghty Sword, and Melphie. He grinned as he shook their hands.

" You three are becoming a lot like another hero team I used to know. Your names have been coming up in a lot of conversations for awhile now. Seems like you three are making headlines. Yup, you remind me a lot of another team I knew... but that was a long time ago."

Melphie took the opening. "You wouldn't be referring to Hero 1 and the Omega team would you? Would you tell us about them?"

I have never seen Paco get misty eyed, but hearing those names brought tears to his eyes. With a nod and a smile, Paco began his stories. In his words, I could almost invision the Rikti invasion, the chaos and terror that ran through the streets. The devestation that we are still rebuilding so many years later. Paco told us of how Hero 1 had saved his life, not once, but many times.

All of the people we talked with gave us little windows into the past. Then we learned about the time capsule, deep within an old Rikti bunker. The heros left behind momentos before they stepped into the portal that would take them to the Rikti homeworld. Reminders of their lives, as if we would, could, forget. A fire stirred inside of me. a fire mirrored in my friends' eyes. We had to see that time capsule.

Which brought us to here. Underneath Paragon City in an old, abandoned Rikti bunker. 'It may be old, but it's not abandoned' I thought as I quietly stepped into a less than vacant hallway. The Lost had taken up residence, and they were searching for something. I didn't need my mental abilities to realize what that something was. A grim determination settled over us all.

"They must not get their hands on that time capsule. It must be preserved at all costs!" I whispered, adrenaline already coursing through me.

Mighty Sword and Melphie nodded in agreement. Mighty Sword silently unsheathed his massive broad sword, and we creeped forward. Melphie unleashed a massive wind, pulling up debris and hurtling it toward the guards. I ripped through theirs minds leaving them shaken, as Mighty Sword jumped into the fray, a blade dance which left only us standing.

As each of the Lost's guards folded before us, I yanked any scrap of knowledge I could find from their twisted minds, until at last I found the information I was looking for. Firey rage burned in my eyes as I brought my two companions up to speed.

"They plan to crush the morale of every hero in Paragon City by destroying the time capsule! They want to erase Hero 1 from the minds of every man, woman and child. Do they really think we would forget? They actually believe the time capsule's destruction will destroy the hearts and souls of the hero's of Paragon, and make them all scatter in dispair, leaving the city undefended."

Melphie shook her head. "More likely it would send a lot of the hero's into a rage of fury. They would personally hunt down every member of the Lost, until they were nothing but a bad memory... but it might also make some of them careless, easy prey.

Mighty Sword's eye flashed under his determined smile. "Well, my Ladies, they will never get a chance to find out. Psylanna, who is leading them? Have they found the capsule yet?

"Pantheon is leading this group, as for whether or not they have found the capsule, this guy didn't know."

We ran through the old Rikti bunker, racing against time and the Lost. But we found time was against us as we entered a massive room in the back of the bunker. There was the time capsule on a pedestal encased in bullet proof glass...surrounded by the Lost. Sounds of their blows echoing through the chamber. Pantheon's back was to us. We started to sneak forward.

"This will teach those Masks to leave us alone!" Pantheon's voice thundered throughout the room. "The desctuction of this time capsule will be the bullet that pierces the heart of every Cape in Paragon! We will show -"
    "Boss"
    "those meddlesome -"
    "Boss!"
    "hero's that we -"
    "BOSS!"
    "You are interrupting my speech!"
    "But boss, we got incoming!!!"

We had been spotted. Bullets went whizzing past us, some bouncing off Mighty Sword's armor. Shouts and automatic weapons' fire created a cacophony of sound, Pantheon's orders roared like thunder above it all.

    "Kill them! Kill them all!"

Mighty Sword unsheathed that massive broadsword once more, catapulted himself into the crowd, trying to get between the Lost and the time capsule. Melphie summoned a massive wind, knocking guys head over heels, while I whipped my will through their unprotected minds. A bullet pierced my shoulder, spinning me around, and throwing me to the ground. I looked up in time to see Anathema leering over me, his giant blade decending toward my head. I scrambled backwards and to my feet in time to lift him up off of his. I slammed him up against the ceiling, then let him drop. He didn't get back up again.

Melphie had objects flying around the chamber, knocking everyone to the ground. Soon only Pantheon was left. Dazed and bleeding, but still standing, we surounded him.

"Your mind is mine Pantheon!" I ripped his mind with my will. He shuddered in pain, his hands cradling his head. As Melphie slammed a computer monitor into him, Mighty Sword knocked him out with a kick to the back of his neck. We stumbled back to the pedestal. It was battered and dented, but the time capsule was still intact.

The three of us stared down at it. The last moments of Hero 1 encased in glass. A symbol to remind us all of the lives that came before us. Of the battles already fought and won. The time capsule, another window to the past, was safe.

The City's Representative presented us our capes in front of a media fanfare. As her speech rambled on, my mind drifted back to the time capsule, imagining the last moments of Hero 1 and the Omega Team. A solemn vow I now give to those heros that came before me. The heros of Paragon will carry the mantle that the Omega Team left in our care. And we will continue to look through the windows of the past... as we secure a brighter future.
  6. I have been roleplaying since I was in 7th grade. I am now a 36 year old mother of two. So I have been around the roleplaying block a little

I am going to expand on some of the advice you have already been given. This might make things a little easier

If you are going to roleplay your character, it is IMPERATIVE to know who and what your character is. That is why a back story is so important.

It should answer certain questions, even if those questions are only answered for yourself. Most important question is this.... why did you become a hero? Very few superheros, (or player characters in any roleplaying game) just woke up one morning and say..."wow, I think I will become a superhero, and fight violence in the streets" or "I think I want to dedicate my life to saving the world." That is a life altering decision.... something happened to make your character decide to do what he/ she does. Maybe a hero saved her life, and she vowed to be just like that hero. Maybe as a child he watched his entire family gunned down in the streets, and vowed he would not rest until the murderers were brought to justice. Maybe it was decreed by the gods that she would be so.... there are a lot of different things that could have happened to make that character a hero.

Next question. Why do you have the powers that you do? Were you orphaned by a child, and adopted by a sensei? Did you develope mutant powers at a young age? Are you the son or daughter of a long and prosperous line of witches? Were your powers bequethed to you by the gods? and if so, why?

What brought you to Paragon City? Were you running from the law in a community where vigilantiism is against the law? Are you chasing a fugitive that has personally caused you harm, or pain? Have you lived in Paragon all your life, and therefore are used to seeing heros around?

Take some time and think about why your character is the way he/ she is. Once this is done, the next part is easier....

Just do it! There is only one surefire method to start roleplaying, that is to just start. Make a comment in a crowd one day regarding your character and see how people respond. It may not work the first time.... so try it again, in different places. There are a lot of roleplayers out there, eventually SOMEONE will understand what you are doing, and they will respond in kind.

For example: on Guardian, I have a lvl 11 illusion/storm controller. Her name is Scaryb. Quick rundown on her backstory.... she is over 2500 years old. She was born Nefriti, youngest daughter to the pharoh during Moses' time. the pharoh, her father, was cursed by God to convince him to set free the people of Israel.

The Egyptian gods decided this curse was not enough for the evil he had done. So they cursed him further. He could not enter the land of Sleeping Kings (Heaven) until he had attoned for his evil ways. Pharoh died before his attonement was complete, so Nefriti prayed to the gods, and sacrificed herself to complete her fathers' attonement. The term of her sacrifice is this : she must do her part to rid the world of evil, and continue to do so, until the gods decree that her father's attonement is complete. Because she is pure of heart, she sleeps in hidden Eden, when not needed...sometimes for a century or two.

Now... Scaryb is not used to the modern, western world. Well, roleplaying her is very easy. I can walk up anywhere, hear any comment for instance : Scaryb walks up to HQ in Galaxy, and sees a group of heros dancing around a boombox. She runs over, squats down and cries 'What magic is this! minstral entrapped in a tiny box? Please sirs, set them free!"

Someone looks at her funny, and explains it is a boombox. Scaryb shakes her head and says "I do not understand the strange ways of the new western world! This is nothing like my native Egypt!"

Just throw the comments out there.... sooner or later you will find other roleplayers that will take what you say and run with it... before you know it, you are roleplaying! And it definately brings a new fun element to the game.

    Hope this helps you
