In a world without Brutes, the obvious answer would be to give Tankers their mechanic. Getting attacked fueling your badassness makes sense for Tankers. We can't do that, of course, but we can try something else.
I propose a new resource and attack for Tankers - lets call them 'Stalwart' and 'Stalwart Strike' for now. Stalwart is similar to a Dominator's 'Domination' bar - they fill it up over time. Their own attacks build a little of it, but the lion's share of Stalwart comes from being attacked. Whether an enemy attack hits or misses the Tanker, the Tanker gets a portion of Stalwart.
Stalwart Strike is only usable once the Stalwart Bar has filled and is similar to a ranged attacker's T9 'nuke' in that it deals a very high amount of damage. The exact animation and potential delivery for the strike would vary depending on the Tanker's secondary (I would prefer PBAoE for almost all, but the case could be made for single target or limited cone on some already AoE heavy secondaries).
Using Stalwart Strike drains the Stalwart resource back to zero, and leaves a short-term resistance and defense buff on the Tanker roughly equal to an unslotted Tough+Weave. Tankers that are judicious at hoarding aggro for themselves will find this buff is up a lot of the time - particularly when the tanker is facing large groups.
I feel like this change would greatly help in making Tankers feel more competitive offensively, help reduce the perceived NEED to pick up Tough/Weave (Invul, for instance, would no longer need Tough to cap S/L resist), and reinforces and rewards the Tanking style of play: get that aggro, soak that damage, and put the boot into your enemies. -
Right now, as a person coming back to the game after being largely absent for 10+ issues, leveling up a Willpower/Street Justice tank, making WPs (and Super Reflex's too, I guess) taunt aura not completely awful would be nice.
It's not as if WP is amazing compared to Invulnerability (one of the best taunt auras) or anything else to justify having to rely so heavily on Taunt and Gauntlet. -
Quote:I can't find it but there is a little stick figure comic floating around some where of a guy stick figure at his computer and you see another stick figure asking him to come to bed and he says he can't because someone is wrong in the internet, that's how some people feel I guess.
(Incidentally, I just searched 'Someone is wrong on the internet' on Google Image. If you were looking, it wasn't very hard XD) -
I've been noticing this issue for the last couple of days. Maybe related to the patch?
Most of the time (except for Incarnate trials), I can run the game silky smooth. However, lately I've been having these sudden, massive FPS drops, from like 60 fps to 10-15 fps, and stays there. The only way I've found to 'fix' it is to alt-tab (I run the game in full-screen windowed, so this isn't a big deal), then click back to the CoH window. After I return, the game runs smooth again - until the next drop.
I can't be certain what the issue is, but it FEELS like the CoH window is dropping to 'inactive, background FPS' despite it being the active window. I've tried disabling my background processes to make sure it's not some other program hijacking it, but nothing seems to work.
Any advice? I remember there being a maxfps command line that I used to have to use - is there a minfps one to keep FPS high even if the game becomes inactive? -
I'm able to bind enter to bring up the requisite code, but when I do it, my cursor doesn't start blinking in the chat box. I basically have to hit enter, go down, click, and then move the text cursor to the end of the line (it starts at the beginning).
If I try to hit enter, type something without clicking, and hit enter again, I just spit out a blank text in the chat box, but nothing in world.
edit:
Current code:
/bind enter beginchat <color #00FF00><bgcolor #000000><bordercolor #00FF00>
Hitting enter inputs code but does not place cursor. Hitting right arrow key puts the cursor at the beginning of the box. Code doesn't seem to care where it is and affects the chat bubble uniformly. So all I need is some way to make sure the cursor gets placed when I hit enter. -
TY much, that seems to work, but my macro still seems to be giving me issues.
Do you think it would be possible to post your keybind here? -
Hi all.
When I last played, I had a special '/bind enter "beginchat ' string that, using hex values, colored my text green, my background black, and most importantly, the border of the chat bubble green. The border is not a default option in the game.
After reactivating yesterday, my script started giving me issues. Trying to redo it, now it spits out the border parameter as my text on every enter. It's like it's not accepting it anymore.
Did Cryptic f*** the border command and prevent anyone from using it? Or is there a different code to use now? -
Didn't mean 'stacking' stack... Meant 'apply' stack. Sorry, wasn't clear.

I've always wondered if a Fire/FF troller stacking Smoke on the enemies could even out to the same damage mitigation (less +defense given, but less +def needed to cap because of a lower enemy acc). Someone should run those numbers.

It's amazing that people still try to defend Knockback on FF like it's some sort of great game mechanic.
You shouldn't be taking damage *anyway*. So you can knock an enemy around and prevent him from doing anything from 4-6 seconds - so what? Only having to pay a nickel over time instead of a dime does not suddenly make me a *rich man*. More damage would probably be prevented by, you know, *helping kill the mobs faster* instead of fiddling around trying to get your knockback just right.
