I'll have to look it up to get the exact numbers, but my SO-only Stalker build was getting slightly over 42% Defense to S/L/E/N after double stacking Energy Absorption - and boy is it easy to double stack that power! I did a +0/x8 Circle of Thorns mission and had no issues surviving. I'll try +4/x8 later, as this was just testing the waters with a SO only build. I am using the Tier 4 Spiritual Alpha though. The very one I plan on getting when Spines/Ice is finally possible for Scrappers.

I would definitely be getting purple sets for my Spines/Ice. 79s for it to Recharge, while being a 30s buff is incredible!

So I'm wondering if you have a high Recharge build, how often would we be able to use this ability? When I do get my Spines/Ice Scrapper up to 50 I plan on taking Spiritual Alpha. -
It's a lot of fun. I have a Level 50 Spines/Ice Stalker using only SOs and Spiritual Alpha on the Beta server and was not having much problem kicking butt at all. Icy Bastion is a panic button that practically costs nothing - no crash and only 2.6 Endurance! What I love the most about Ice Armor is that it is a Defense set that has toggle Status Protection and a Damage Aura. Obviously not for Stalkers on the second part, but definitely for Scrappers!

By updated I hope you mean improved. I like the look of the set, I'm glad they gave it some aoe and made it relatively quick in terms of animations and feel, but the numbers look low to me. I know they can't make every new set better than the old ones performance-wise, but if you're going to sell them, at least let them compete with the top tier sets.

You can minimize the blocky look it quite a bit. Tunnel Rat said she'd like to do an update to the look of Ice Armor, so here's hoping she gets the chance!

During today's Ustream (38:00 time mark), Synapse clarified that when Scrappers get Ice Armor that they would probably get Icy Bastion for their Tier 9 ability. This is because Scrappers share the same Patron Power Pools as Stalkers, and those two ATs already have access to Hibernate through Leviathan Mastery.
I am seriously stoked! Icy Bastion is something I would use regularly without hesitation on an Ice Armor Scrapper!
