This reduces the file size from 1.42 MB to 4 KB, which makes it MUCH easier for people on dial up.

Bah, the way I see it, if they don't want their names known, they wouldn't ADD them. To have your comment not be anonymous, you have to CHOOSE to manually type your name out.

The rep comments are anonymous to YOU, NOT to the moderators, they can see all. So just follow the link to YOUR post that they negged, and then report YOUR post and ask that they look at the rep comments to the post.

Where reputation COULD have been serious business and helped new players or posters to discover who is useful and helpful to listen to, instead because of that thread, it's now SRS BZNS and basically a joke.

11 of the top 15 "reputable" forumites on the member list got there because of that thread and solely because of that thread.

Samuraiko (Dark_Respite) originally posted in that thread but wisely deleted all of her posts in it and hasn't posted there since, which makes me respect her again. If she didn't do that, she'd make it 12 out of the top 15, but because of her taking herself out of it, I'm taking her out of that count.

A rising tide raises all boats, as they say. The more rep they give to each other, the more rep power they have to give to each other in the future. It's artificial inflation basically.

That's why I've started to ignore the rep system entirely. It had a CHANCE to be useful at the start, but it's basically just a big joke now. I don't care what position I'm in at all with the way this thing is going. I'm much more interested in the comments posted now than I am in some score which is now essentially meaningless.

I didn't think this was appropriate for ANY other forum than forum games, and since I find the new anonymous rep feature hilarious, I've decided to start this thread where we can all view and comment on people's opinions of us and our posts. Please feel free to post your own rep comments and comment ON those rep comments yourself! By the way, if you go to your User CP in the top left corner, you can see the last 20 or so rep comments and you can even select them and copy and paste them here for ease of use. Here is an example with the ones I've accumulated so far, just from the last 3 days because the rest disappear after so many comments:

As you can see already, I've noticed from my experience that the positive Rep comments are MUCH more intelligent and well thought out, with the negative rep comments being almost entirely caveman grunts or monosyllabic.

I honestly wouldn't MIND negative rep if people were more CREATIVE with their comments! If you're going to insult me at LEAST try to be amusing about it!

And apparently I have an "admirer" who likes to Neg me daily just for the heck of it... fascinating. I think I feel honored by this special attention!

So, what do you all got? Anything interesting?

Westley's Qwik N EZ Rep Posting Guide!

1. Highlight all of your rep comments like shown, then right click on any of the highlighted text and choose Copy from the popup menu that appears:



2. Then go to the bottom of the thread and click NEW REPLY. This is important. If you use Quick Reply, you won't get access to an important button later:



3. Once you are in the New Reply window, right click inside the white space and choose Paste, it should look like below. Once you see that, hit the Preview post button:



4. Now it should look like the picture below. There's all sorts of extra stupid spaces. To get rid of them, click the Preview Post button AGAIN:



5. Now it should look like this, with no stupid spaces!



6. Now simply format the remaining text in a manner of your choosing. I personally like to hit enter BEFORE every "jellybean" so that each comment is on its own line, and then bold the comment that comes after and leave the Time Stamp alone. I did half to show you what I do after and before:



It's that easy!

Install the VB5 runtime files. Using the Admin permissions. All versions of XP came with these pre-installed, but I suppose that the 64-bit Vista didn't. I BELIEVE that 32 bit apps should still run under a 64 bit environment with the correct runtimes installed, but your system would be the test of that hypothesis. Do this and then PLEASE tell me how it works out for you.

If you're trying to match a font color to the villains' or heroes' background color, you should know it's impossible because the background isn't a solid color, it's a "gradient" gif that gets lighter as it stretches. I know this because I downloaded and examined the Style sheets to get the color of the darkest part of the forums' gradient to make sure that the program's background looked appropriate or at least representative against the sample.

The background color of the window never actually changes, believe it or not. I made my own GIFs of the hero and villain background gradients' darkest colors and overlayed them on top of the form, but below all the controls. When you click the sample text, it switches which one is shown and which is hidden, but both are always still "there".

I sure hope that's in jest... you know how much TIME that would take?

Besides, they get paid to do that, I don't.

The new version, 1.1 is now on the site at the same link address. Please delete your original copy and download this version. It includes a major "bug fix" which prevents users like Rove from inputting more than 32,000 characters. That should be PLENTY for coloring.

I also included the version number in the title bar so that there shouldn't be any confusion as to that, I didn't want to mess with the interface, wanted to keep it simple. The less buttons the better!

If you have to color more than that, you probably SHOULD do it in pieces, so there!
