  1. It's not hard to "stalk" someone that posted in two of the same threads as you...

By the way, thanks for the negative rep, I found it funny.

But.... but.... that's what Defenders DO.

It's our JOB to save idiots. If we don't, what are we? Just Corrupters with weak blasts.....

It's that role that defines us.

Yeah, and didn't you say earlier in this thread that it was a terrible idea? And didn't you previously have it disabled when you had negative rep given to you by "jerks"? Paraphrasing here from this post, but you get the point. I know for a fact that I saw it disabled at some point.

Fascinating how you turned it back on after it went green.

    Great post PK

Yay I got to use MultiQuote for the first time! Honestly I wouldn't call this a guide. It's not NEARLY long enough. Click on any one of my actual guides in my sig and you'll see what I mean, THOSE are guides.
  5. Awesome Dinah I didn't know those things! Hope you don't mind if I edit the OP to reflect the correction.
  6. Read the PuG TF guide in my sig, just use it to form normal teams. Then you'll never be teamless.
  7. Alrighty, a lot of people have had some problems adjusting to the new forums, so I put together these "quick n dirty" tips to help ease the transition:

First of all, if you JUST want to see the normal English threads, click this link and bookmark this page.

Wait, what was that? How did I make that link actually appear green and bolded like the links on the old forums did? Why I use the fancy new WYSIWYG Editor now that's built into the forums, way nicer than hard coding if you ask me.

How do I turn it on? Well, you turn it on in your "User Control Panel", just click the button you see here:

Click that and a world of opportunities await!

On the left hand side of the page is where you'll see all sorts of options, take a look:

Here are the options and what you can find there -

Edit Your Details: Change your registered e-mail and password, your personal information including DoB, Bio, homepage, messenger names, etc. etc.

Contacts & Friends: Add contacts and friends here... not quite sure what the difference is though, but I'm sure someone else will fill us in.

    Social Groups:
Yes, these new forums allow us to have our very own "social network". For all you MySpacers and Facebookers, here's the place to be! It shows a list of all current groups and allows you to create your own group (with a link at the bottom of the page)

Edit Avatar: Guess "Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels" That's 20 more than before!

Edit Signature: Skip this one for now and come back, I'll tell you why later, just trust me.

Edit E-Mail and Password: A really dumb and pointless section, because all it has is the E-Mail and Password, which should have just been left on the same page as the rest of your Personal Details. In fact, the button on Edit Your Details just goes here! Oh well.

Edit Options: Now THIS is what I'm talking about, this is the good stuff. Here you can make yourself Invisible, hide your reputation level, adjust every way that people can try to contact you, CHANGE YOUR DISPLAY OPTIONS (I prefer 100 posts per page myself), time zone, forum skin, and what's this? Under Miscellaneous Options there is an option to change your message editor! I suggest that EVERYONE right now go and change this to Enhanced Interface. Why? Because that's the full What You See Is What You Get editor that we never had on the old forums. Instead of having to type code, you get to use a nice interface that anyone familiar with even Wordpad should be able to use!

Edit Ignore List: Here you can add any name to your ignore list manually that you want to ignore. Remember folks, copy and paste is your friend!

    Now go back to....

Edit Signature (for real this time): Here you can completely edit and format your signature. No more 300 character limit, instead, you have a limit of 5 "lines". There are a couple areas in this section, Edit Signature and Signature Picture. To date, I have NOT been able to get "Signature Picture" to work at ALL, I always get an "invalid URL" message no matter what. So what *I* do, and I recommend you do too if you want a signature picture, is to sacrifice one of your "lines" in the text signature to input a signature picture instead. To do that, you click the little icon on the editor that looks like two mountains and a sun. Then you can enter in the URL of your signature picture. Voila! There it is!

You also come face to face with the WYSIWYG EDITOR . I have two quick and dirty tips that should make using this "scary" new editor a breeze.

    1. Hold your mouse over each button for a second until the Tool tip shows up. That will show you exactly what that button does, no guessing needed!
    2. WRITE YOUR TEXT FIRST, format later. Seriously, it's so much easier to just type out everything you want to say, and then format. Prime example - do you remember how on the old forums you'd click the Add URL button and then have to enter the URL and the text in two separate boxes? With this editor, not anymore! Simply TYPE YOUR TEXT FIRST, then highlight it, THEN click the "Insert Link" button. Now you just enter the URL and BAM, all your text is automatically linked!
Pro Tip: Do you want to know how I made my link earlier in the thread green and bold instead of the default coloring? Just format the text you want to be colored BEFORE "linking" it! Thanks for this tip Dinah, MUCH easier. Click this link to give Dinah mad props!

    Here is an example!

The Rest: Are really self explanatory and boring.

Trouble reading the boards? Strain hurt your eyes?
One final thing to add here for now is that Sorciere provided a GREAT simple resources for people that are having problems reading the boards, but only for Style Sheet enabled browsers. Here is her post, try it out if you're having problems.

OR even better, consider trying out Zombie_Man's skins!

Smilies - Moderator 8 "promised" some better smilies, but UNTIL those smilies come in, I have "salvaged" the smilies from the old forums!

I have created a handy ImageShack gallery for you to use to get your hands on Mr. Yellow!

    A few more quick ones:

Clicking on a person's name will bring up a quick menu for you to use!

Now if only they'd add an ignore button there it'd be much easier to ignore people.

In the top right corner of the page, there are several menu options that allow you to interact with the thread, explore them all!

And finally, here is a quick breakdown of what the buttons at the bottom of a post do for you:

    Also,

At the bottom of all threads, right between the last post on the page and the quick reply box, lies a little area about "tags". Tags are another method of searching the forums, or just describing a thread. If you click on the Edit Tags link shown in the picture below, you can add tags yourself.

Try it out even on this thread, why not?

    Nifty New Tool Found

Just how I described above how you can Subscribe to a thread and it'll appear in your user control panel, I've just discovered that you can do the same thing with entire forums!

If you're anything like me, you frequent only 2 or 3 forums regularly. Why would you want to have to scroll past all those others that you always ignore when you can choose to just see the ones that you WANT to see.

To do this, just go to the forum that you wish to favorite and click the Forum Tools link you'll see in the top right corner of that forum, and then click the Subscribe to this Forum link. A picture is provided here for you:

After you do that, it'll appear RIGHT below your subscribed threads. Handy! Take a look:

I'm really beginning to grow fond of these new forums!
  8. Good news doc! While all these newbies can get 50s easily, it's MUCH harder for them to get the fancy vet badges that you have!

They are pretty pricey on eBay for the oldest accounts, and there's only so many that can be sold!

  10. I resolve this problem by never entering the AE in the first place and instead starting random PuG TFs. Then again, that is also my latest obsession, so it's just a happy coincidence. Anyone want to join a Shadow Shard TF on Justice?
  11. This is where I'm confused whether I'll be in or not. My account shows " 5 Years, 9 Months" of "Veterans Rewards Time", but only "5 Years, 2 Months" of "Total Paid Time".

Both of those are still over 60 months, which is 5 years exactly.

HOWEVER, I don't get my 60 month vet badge until the middle of this month.

HUH? WHA? Where do I stand???
  12. Ah, so you've been playing them as Corrupters even before they existed. Fascinating.
  13. Well to be fair, MK, Turbo comes to it with the mindset of a Corrupter, always has and probably always will.
  14. Mr. DJ, just who IS your avatar? Is she from a Street Fighter game or something?
  15. Are you quoting Ben Kenobi now?

This thread has GONE TO THE JEDIS!!!!!!!!!1111!1!!!!!!!!!!!

Stop trying to use logic in a rant thread, dammit!
  17. Here's some of the fun ones that I've gotten so far:

"DIE REP DIE" - This one made me LOL

"I disapprove" - Well, at least tell me WHAT you disapprove of!

From my "Armor and Color" thread:

"Silly post for attention and drama" - Silly, yes, for attention, yes... but how can a "silly post" be "for drama"? Methinks you don't understand what those words mean.

"hehe" - So they think the thread is funny but give negative rep? Or is the person laughing inside their head AT the fact that they are giving me negative rep. This one confuses me.

"keep on spamming, somday you'll get into heaven" - All Spammers Go To Heaven? Isn't that a movie somewhere? Oh yeah, so spammers = dogs. Got it. But wait, isn't spamming literally posting the same message over and over again? I'm pretty sure that my messages, while all over the place, at the very least contain some sort of VARIETY. So I'm trying to figure out how I'm a spammer. Oh well, at least I'm going to heaven... somehow...

This negative rep thing is too good. I almost WANT people to give me more negative rep just to read more comments like these, they are fascinating. People that give positive rep don't comment nearly as much because they don't have to.

Repulsion Field's radius is sometimes too small and the team sometimes too spread out to save them all with just that power. Sometimes you NEED Force Bubble.

I'm going to paraphrase Samuel L. Jackson here from the movie Jackie Brown:

Force Bubble: when you absolutely positively have to aggro every mother ****** in the room, accept no substitute.

As I said in the FF Bible, Repulsion Field is like a chisel, Force Bubble is like a sledgehammer. There is a time and place for each when you're sculpting.

Yes Reptlbrain, it IS exactly like Repel. But do you know why I take it and leave it on all the time? Three reasons:

    1) It has a SHORT range. Enemies have to be so close that they're almost ready to give you a ****** exam before it activates.

    2) It leaves my "hands" free to do other things like blast and Force Bolt. Do I need to save TWO teammates at opposite ends of the room at the same time? Since I already have RF on, I JUMP to teammate #1 and the RF knocks the enemy away while AT THE SAME TIME I'm targetting the enemy killing teammate #2 and Force Bolting him away. I've done this MANY times. Having that freedom is nice.

    3) It's AUTOHIT. You read that right. There is no ToHit check, it always hits. The only enemies that won't be knocked away are enemies that actually have KB resistance. It also "stacks" on itself. If you have good enough personal Defense, you can literally go into the Shadow Shard and jump into the middle of a group of Brutes with strong KB resistance and just by sitting there, they'll get knocked down about once every few seconds or so. Because of the stacking. It's nuts.

I highly recommend Repulsion Field to any FFer for at the very least their own personal defense when outside of Personal Force Field.

EDIT: wow, you can't say "ectal with an R" on these boards? It's a scientific name for a human body part!
  20. I'm glad that I missed the thread today while driving for 8 hours. It looks like it went from bad to worse, on all sides.

And yes, FF is in fact awesome.

And yes, you CAN in fact keep Force Bubble on ALL THE TIME if you choose to, but you want to know the smart way to do that and keep everyone happy? It was mentioned shortly earlier in the thread.

You turn it on and position yourself JUST RIGHT so that the edge of the Force Bubble meets the melee toons. Then just follow behind at the same distance. All the ranged toons can then sit inside the Force Bubble in relative safety, and the melee toons, who are tougher and can take the extra beating from not being near Dispersion Bubble, can sit outside of it and hack away. Everybody wins.

It's all a matter of playstyle choice.

  24. I now wish that the Rep system would be removed, honestly. There is no reason for me to be #1 again when there are so many other better posters. Like Zombie_man or Memphis Bill that actually HELP people rather than just BS around.
