  1. thanks powerforge Been working in poser to get me a cool login. Lots of awesome stuff here !
  2. I didn't get to find out how ;(
  3. its been quite enjoyable to read someone of your calibur defend the use of poser. I've heard too many times to count that poser is gimp and people who use it are losers. but they fail to grasp the idea that you aren't using it because you aren't capable of learning something more complicated. you are using it because you like to use it. i like the 3d style. i dont like the time it takes to model something from scratch. i can get a happy medium with poser. though lately i far favor importing my poser scenes into cinema4d so i can break out of the limitations that poser presents to me.
  4. If you want to see further what Darkjedi is referring to when he says "awful poser artwork", take a walk through the galleries at www.renderosity.com .. there are some major gems to be seen there... Not saying i'm the best but clearly, some of these people do images with their eyes closed :P

Poser is just taking models, posing them, slapping some clothes on, and calling it done for the majority of users. For me, I haven't done that since i first started messing with it on a daily basis a little over a year ago. Even if my picture is a simple girl on a black background, i spent quite a bit of time in the material room, or in photoshop messing with textures. More often than not i never use an item's default texture ><

Modelling and Posering are two COMPLETELY different things. Right now, i absolutely DESPISE modelling, but i am a masochist, and just about every day i add a few gray hairs to the head by trying to learn more of it. Simply because, I'm tired of spending so much dang money on poser stuff that isn't even what i really want out of an outfit. I have a habit of trying to do everything myself.. which is how i even learned photoshop and php/mysql and html, javascript etc.

So people who don't enjoy modelling, poser. And true true, what Darkjedi says.... If he had to model everything from scratch... take what he charges (if anything? dude let me know.. i've never commissioned before but i am totally weak for your skillz ! ) and square it! Cause unless you're an expert superfast modeller, its going to take a lot of time to create and rig something. especially for small details, a lot of buckles/folds.

Anyways, I've been looking through some of these threads and there's some great artwork here. I haven't checked this forum since the game first came out. Good job all

In my case, I've received a number of requests for male heroes - some being very rough and tumble, manly types. To solve this issue, I've been forced to model my own gear, make my own textures, and photoshop the parts that look bad in the final render. I do my best to 'knock the Poser out of Poser'.

you do a fine job I'm not sure how you do it.. but you do it, and very well.

I've been practicing with modelling, but yeah.. for some reason its taking awhile to 'click'. i can mutilate an already created mesh pretty well.. but don't ask me to make something from scratch and make it usable in Poser !

you mean like a cat skin ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, not a plain ol' skin... actual fur Volumetric and all that, so it doesn't look 'painted on'. Might have to be something you'd have to do manually in photoshop though.

I'm sure I'm frustrating DarkJedi with my furriness :P *giggles*

oh haha. no thats a limitation of poser. all the hair is transmapped, meaning its a flat plane, thats transparent, except for little 'strands' of hair. its 2d, actually..... if that makes any sense ?

If i had a newer version of cinema4d and some knowledge of the hair plugin, I could probably do it. I do know someone that may be able to though, http://fredy3d.deviantart.com , he does absolutely amazing work

Fist, to vex, nice render there! and to mirror a former question asked a bit up on this thread, did you do any post render touchups in PS? Looks damned good though, and Suppa, you got yer self one nice piece!

the hair and some highlights are postworked. the green on the boots and gloves as well as the inverted "V" on the jacket were postworked. in this case, Its just more efficient to color over something in photoshop than it is to open up a UV map, and try to paint on the texture itself for rendering the background was put in after i rendered. i try to work within the program to make the finished render require the least amount of postwork, in hopes if the client needs a small change in gear, or pose, i dont have to spend another couple hours repainting something over the new render.

I haven't met too many artists yet 3D Poser style renders of male heroes, I think DJ is one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's been a phenomenon ever since Poser came out; a vast majority of Poser art is babe-art. In some ways, it's contributed to the negative stigma Poser has been associated with.

It's also too bad Vex has limited himself to babes only. That's effectively cutting out half his potential client base.

Still, nice render. It could use a background, though. But that's just me.

Hi all I'm very glad you all like my work

Why I don't do males? Well i'm lesbian. ( just kidding.. haha ok.. anyways.. )

No, really. I did a portrait of one once.. and it was frustrating. The client liked it but the poser 'male' models look more like they belong on a fashion runway show than in some heavy metal gear. its hard to make them look manly, if you know what i mean. but hey, if a supermodel superhero is right up your alley, then maybe we can work something out. they all wear spandex anyways right ? there is a major short in male gear though. you have a few good sets but its not really 'superhero'ish.

I do agree with the background though, but Super was the one paying for it so he gets what he wants
