While this is a great idea, where are the Devs supposed to get this "slider"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same place they got the instanced mission engine:

    Anarchy Online.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
It can be a veteran who lost friends, and a limb in war for all you know.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aurora would say they are gimped and need to re-roll.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
    *laughs*

    [/ QUOTE ]

It cannot say anything without adding derision.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
    I love how the cowards

    [/ QUOTE ]

    LOL !

    What a piece of work.

    Paragon_Star is now a "coward"...

    /rollseyes

If the buffoon wasn't so entertaining, I would actually consider
ignoring a poster for the first time ever.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
This is it right here. I can see that Miss Aurora likes MMOGs for she can feel like "somebody" here. In real life, she is nobody and lacks friends, mates, and other human interactions so she comes here, belittles everyone, and logs off happy as a clam. She "knows all" and will tell you that every chance she gets, even if you did not ask her.

Troll away, Miss Aurora. You're very transparent.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously, I gave you 5 stars for that.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
There is plenty of room up here if you'd like to join me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    LOL !

Sorry, but I don't see any room at all...
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I am not responsible for how you feel about yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, but you were quite responsible for your own need to point
the finger from atop your soapbox.

And by "above it all", I was referring to your need to try and
categorize what many have called funny as so terribly "petty",
so, kindly, save your dimestore analysis for someone that is
    interested..

Enjoy your position atop the soapbox.

Someone will knock you off it soon enough.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
t's not fair for people like me to be forced to not do our missions because pansy cowards can't handle the missions themselves. If the missions get toned back down to pre-issue #2 levels, I'll taking another break from the game, temporarily suspending my accounts until they get the difficulty slider in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bwahahahaha..

And as I told you before, no one will miss you.

    Fred_Savage

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ya know, Savage, you were a really cute kid on that TV show...

Didn't stick with ya as ya grew up, but hey, that's another story.

And yes, I would like fries with that.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
What is funny to ONE person, is quite the pysche enlightener to MANY others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And that you deem yourself so "above it all" contains a few
volumes on your character as well.

    Don't laugh, no sweat..

But as soon as you climbed onto your soapbox to point the
finger you became exactly like the one you are pointing at.

Do you feel like the "big man" now ?

  11. Just because Statesman stepped up doesn't mean anyone pulled
    your chain, gamerboy.

Now, why don't you make your little argument about the forums
not representing the populace and I will ask you about the
number of e-mails that support received, again...
  12. Statesman, my final thoughts.

    No trolling this time:

I've enjoyed a lot about your game and I have enjoyed the hell
out of trolling you and these boards. (Gardvord had to go
    someplace, right ?)

You are, without a doubt, a success... City of Heroes is doing
fine, better than most as it represents something new.

Congratulations on holding your full box price for so many
weeks, truly a feat that others only hope to replicate.

Best wishes to you, Statesman, and all the others that struggled
to get this unique game to market.

Does those actions perhaps support my "intentions..." about the lower levels?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Pffftt..

Thats funny, those are re-actions to a huge outcry.

I don't think they represent your intentions one bit.

But I'm glad I got under your skin enough to make you defend
    yourself again..

Maybe next time you will listen to the players on test...
Unlikely but I won't be around to see it anyway.

Oh and BTW, I hit the forum title cap.. Ya better ban me and
    nerf the forums...
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I think more is being done to boost the casual players experience who does missions than not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought so too, and I was pretty excited about the XP increase
    for missions.

But the XP increase versus the new "challenges" in the game
    equals very little net gain.

It boils down to the bottom half of the game being nothing but
an empty grind with the last power really coming at 32 with the
    rest mostly being filler.

I just do not enjoy the direction the game has taken and I need
more complexity if I have to be subjected to a grind, my grinding
    has to accomplish something.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

CoH is the first of it's kind in a crossover generation of games
that mix fast paced elements of action games with the character
    advancement of an MMORPG.

But that's also it's big fault for people like me.

I used to (and sometimes still do) compete in FPS games, so the
action part of CoH for me is only so-so.

In the same vein I have played more than a couple MMORPGS,
so the simplistic combat-only environment of CoH is pretty
    empty for me.

The way the game used to play, I enjoyed fast paced and
superheroic action in a nice looking high poly environment
(something we don't really get in the FPS world yet) with
    mmorpg advancement of my characters.

I don't find that to be the case any longer with the changes that
have been made in the last few months, my characters do not
feel "heroic" in any sense of the word, except when my girlfriend
and I do drive by heals..

And that can only carry the game so far.

Finally, at the behest of Garriott et al/NCsoft I think Statesman
will, if not sooner then later, turn CoH into EQ in capes and
    tights.
  15. First, please check your facts, the post I replied to had no smiley in it.

    [ QUOTE ]
And before you complain that they don't listen to us anyways

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I would never do that as the word "anyway" should never be pluralized..

Glad you enjoy playing, wish I still did.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
There was a smiley on my post too!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly not trolling you on this:

No, there was no smiley on the post I replied to.

    Constructive ideas...

I posted a zillion ideas, I detailed how certain dynamic missions
could easily be implemented, I detailed how to implement a
costume creation system for playing with costumes offline, I
asked them not to change the game for power gamers when
they ripped a ton of fun out with the purple patch...

    I've given up.

The developers of this game cannot understand that min/maxers
will always blaze through a game, but with no PvP or economy it
doesn't matter how many people hit the level cap.

One of this game's biggest appeals is making new characters.

With the way the game is set up now, who are the only people
that will take their alt to the level cap ??

    Min/maxers.

What is the percentage of players that are min/maxers ?

If the playerbase is composed of a majority of min/maxers then
retaining them by slowing them down is good business.

If the majority of the playerbase is casual, or even totally new
to MMORPGS, what will retention be when those players have to
grind thousands of mobs to see character advancement ?

The game is leaning hard towards min/maxers and since that is
the case I no longer care.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
if you did not got to the test server and try these things out and think well everyones else is doin it so why should I then you have nothing to complain about

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some of us actually thought it was Cryptic's and NCsoft's job to
test the software we pay for.

Guess I only have myself to blame for Statesman's decisions...

Damn ol' Vegetator, makin' Statesman do stuff !!!
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Veg, do you actually play or do you just sit on the forums and argue?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I used to play a lot more...

    WTB: "teh fun"
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry but you tried speaking for Statesman earlier since you appear to be the authority on what lurks within the hearts of evil Devs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ugh, don't be a complete twit..

There is big smiley on the end of that first post.

Taking a dig at Statesman and speaking for him are two
    different things.

  20. Even through the ranting and tirades of myself and others, you
    are quite civil, Cat.

I bow to your strength of character.
  21. I never speak for anyone but myself.

    Try again.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Posting mock pictures of Statesman doesn't necessarily lend you credibility. And it doesn't it make you seem funnier to the rest of us...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Pfffttt..

Lots of people have told me that pic is funny.

And just who are "you", again ?

Save your "rest of us" commentary for when you get elected to
    speak for someone besides yourself.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    Veg what is your point?

it's being changed - they why, how, shoulda's, coulda's etc. do not matter one bit.

personally, i think you're wrong. It's everyone's responsibility to test - as it's impossible for the folks at cryptic to check everything. And I know personally, i only went on test during the issue2 preview to play with capes + respec, I didn't go toying around w/ level 5 mobs. maybe if I and a number of other folks had, and pointed it out, it never woulda made it in live.

should this stuff have slipped through - no. were there a lot of complaints about it? i don't know. but - judging from the fact that they came out a LOT faster than i expected saying that it would be fixed, i assume it was not an intentional change. perhaps it was tried out, and accidently got left in, but i doubt it was intentional. look - the rikti chiefs were one-slicing people to death. are you saying that was intentional too? as soon as it was pointed out, they acknowledged it as an error and it was fixed. why would i sit around now and waste any thought on why it was like that in the first place, unless i were just a generally negative-minded trouble-making [censored]?

    shut up

if you want to complain that issue two went live prematurely - hey i'd agree. but claiming that this is state's evil plan seems ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow, you are totally right and have given me reason for a 100%
    attitude reversal...

    /rolleyes.

You believe what you want, I believe what I want and we both
pay to be able to express it here.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
What I dislike about these posts and why I'm still arguing is because I can't stand arrogant-pessimistic-ruin everyone's fun-posters who try to trash a game because they are mad at the world and the Devs didn't hug them enough when they were young. I know I'm exaggerating but that's the attitude that comes across.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You see that's exactly the problem.

Statesman is my ******* father, and he left me and Caliban to
grow up as angry trolls in Skyway.

Where are the hugs, dad ??
  25. [ QUOTE ]
what was really funny was a comment by Statesman or one of the other Devs in which they expressed surprise that so FEW people were at level 40 when Issue 1 went out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gaffer said that, and don't you remember how many people
screamed "BS", because the nerfs were specifically to slow
people from getting to 40 ??

Just for one second, take the perspective of these guys when
they are trying to control the spin.

They will say just about anything, which is pretty much natural.

Not necessarily excusable, but it is natural for humans.
