  1. It's sad when they add cool stuff that we lobby against it because it makes the game more difficult... while it may take some time, I'd much rather for a harder game with more powerful characters than an easier game with no depth...

I saw a mention of this as a pending vampiric powerset? Can anyone shed some light (or shadow) on this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just a name. No info whatesover. It does sound magical or mystical, but all we know is that it's an epic AT. (That means it's not a powerset). That's all... we don't even know that it's only for villains... (wait, do we?).

I believed they said, "Items of Cosmic importance." That leads me to believe them to be a bit more thatn flags. Perhaps certain ones offer certain buffs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree. Cosmic Importance more implies Infinity Gauntlets, Cosmic Cubes, or Universal Nullifiers than, say, the Rhode Island state flag, or even Old Glory herself. In other news, I like capitalizing Important Stuff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Disagree. Cosmic Cubes and universal nullifiers imply reshaping planets and starting monstrous PC villain run-TFs, not a +def for all your friends... not at all...

As for Offline SG members during base raids... having them dissappear/be teleported out would be decent... having them be ganked like low HP simple AI toons would be okay in my book... who cares if my toon is 'defeated' if I'm not there and it doesn't affect my use of the character at all... if I log on, I log onto where I last was (which does suck if I log into my base while it's being raided no matter what), with NO ill effects from my image being defeated in a base raid... and "my" attacker gets no points either..

If this is all to stop or curb PL'ing I can see may better ways to do it.

    For example:

You can not receive XP if your combat level excedds your security level by X(2-3) levels.(Excess to debt and inf just like rsk) And when you train you have to visit an level approiate trainer.
1-5 Ms liberty or brawler(atlas or galaxy)
5-10 you can also visit the trainer in Kings.
10-15 add the trainers in steel and skyway
    you get the idea.

    How will this curb PL'ing?

The annoyance factor. PL'ing works becasue you can rack up multiple levels and then train them all at once and the higher level's don't have to go out of their way to let this happen. If you keep having to escort your SK back to atlas from tallos it will get annoying. I think this would provide a deterent.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Genius, what a great idea, I give you the gift of stars!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I fail to see how this idea is superior at all. It certainly overlooks minor PLing (most PLing isn't from 1-30, I assume) and makes assumptions (don't we all) about what the major concerns with PLing are and certainly doesn't provide any deterrent to PLing by friends (recall friend, fly, recall friend, another three levels... no problem)... by the time they're at 14 they can fly themselves...

Also, I LIKE levelling up 2 and three and four times at once... especially if I'm just choosing enhancements, I usually dont' even go to the trainer, especially if I'm making good XP on missions... this penalizes me for absolutely NO reason and with NO logic...

On the other hand, for those who understand the rules, the XP Range punishes NO one but the person who is far away and lending nothing towards combat, and then it ONLY keeps XP away... not counters towards badges or missions or any such thing... ALL team members get credit for the defeat, just without XP or influence... which honestly makes sense, how am I getting rewarded when all I'm not fighting or even watching the fight?

The ONLY legitimate concern I've seen is that you get less XP than soloing if your team is out of range. The "it won't deter PLers" is illogical, it makes PLing more dangerous, of course it deters PLers...

And those who choose not to "buy" that PLing harms the game, well, I choose not to "buy" that you exist or I choose not to "buy" that you play CoH or any other lack of belief that has no affect on reality whatsoever.

    And one more 'flamish' comment:

"Don't tell me how to play the game--If I want to be a tank mage, I should be able to! I pay 15 buck a month, dangit!"

    That's all... happy gaming...
  5. Healers still get XP if they can see the thing that the people they're supposedly healing are killing...

The 300' rule will deter many PLers... it means your lowbie will have to be in the instanced mission in order to PL... that's an annoyance factor for most people... if you REALLY want to lowbie, you can keep your PLer in relative safety, somewhere around the max distance...

If you guys understand the rules (which, according to the last few pages, few people do) then you'll know it doesn't hurt anybody... big groups STILL can do kill 150 missions seperate and get the badge, I just don't get XP for your kills in Atlas while im in KR... no harm done... and the death timer is still mutable... it can be altered to a fitting length...

Again, I feel it WILL deter many PLers except the most dedicated, in which case, they're always going to PL, so they aren't to be considered... casual PLers will think twice before running around in range of stuff that's 10+ levels higher than them...

It's a great solution, and I don't think it'll affect most people... I personally always felt weird when I was going to my contact and my buddies were racking up XP for me and I wasn't doing diddly for them... it didn't make much sense to me...
