Maybe at solo they are about 90%ish as effective as a similar offensive or defensive AT. But in a group of 2-4ish they are greater than or equal to a similar offensive or defensive AT. Maybe in groups of 8 they are extra scrumptulescient.
Will that make them a little weaker in solo? Yes. But they deserve it. If they are crazy powerful in big groups, they shouldn't be so solo also. If a player wants to solo an AT that has been expressly explained, right up front, as a group AT, and specifically needs to gain power from teamates, then ok. but dont expect to do it well. This is of course speculation. They just might solo splendiferously.
I don't think this will replace other ATs in big groups. Another <enter AT here> will always add to the offense, defense, or utility of the group. And since they can't suck energy from eachother (speculation like the rest of this) you wouldn't see teams full of them.
Just more guesses. -
Need energy from their teamates he said.
Hmmm.
Maybe Peacebringers are defenders who provide more defense per teamate.
Maybe Warshades are offensive and provide more offense per teamate.
Maybe they suck a little energy from teamates to provide this, either health or end. They already have this, except you steal it from the enemies. Except you'd use it to amp your own powers not another teamates. And they already have a personal form of this in one of the tanker powers (cant remember, my buddy has my book) where you use some of your own health to amp some power up.
Having these open at lvl 50 is a good deterent from keeping these ATs being overly rampant. Maybe another one would be that they need regular human ATs (or non-epic for all you robots and such) to be the energy sucking hosts for their power. Perhaps this would inherently create balance because they need others for their strength. They are the conduit, but everyone else is providing the energy.
Not sure how the shape shifting or possession part would fit in. I thought I was on to something earlier with the PBs borrowing teamates powers and the WSs borrowing enemies. Not so sure now.
I betcha the Dev who first came up with the EAT idea is reading this forum laughing his silly hiney off at the insanity he has brought to the world.
I thought i could get away with "a-r-s-e" but i had to use hiney. -
If the 2 ATs are dark and light versions of the aliens maybe itd work out like this:
Maybe the light aliens possess teamates for extra energy damage (they're made of it right?), and the dark ones possess the baddies somehow. Not like mind control, something different. Maybe adding dark energy to the mobs attacks, and having them attack their own kind.
A big "If" and a couple large "maybes" in there. -
Shape shifting of a sort
Depend on their teamates
Those alien things possess people
Maybe you add to your teamates damage with your own? Kind of a funky assist?
Or maybe you can shapeshift into a clone of a teamate, or a combo of teamates. Use certain powers from each...
Just a hunch. May be a stupid one tho.
