Does bosses up your chances of getting one?
Yes, but according to TopDoc's analysis, the extra chance does not make up for the extra time it takes to kill them.
Does run at -1/x8 increase your chances?
Chance of purple drop is the same at level 49 as it is at 54, so the faster killing will result in more purples per hour.
Is there a way to get em faster?
Other than running -1/x8, not that I know of. -
