  4. I agree, very sad. Crashless Quasar would have been so great.
  5. 7pm--The return of the Medic TF
Blaster and Fenders pair up on an ITF. The goal? Neither partner that you have formed a buddy with can die. The surviving pair gets a free Layla doll made after any of their personal characters. If there are more than one pair of survivors, they will enter SUDDEN DEATH! (I hope we have sudden death, it will be lots of fun.)

Speedy better freaking come back, he was my partner for this once.

Well, myself and my friends will most likely be migrating to Champions, so *shrug.*

They were the "enemy" for a while, sure- I wouldn't have even slightly considered moving to Champions while COH was still running. But yes, moving there does seem like the best thing COH players could do, if they mean to preserve the "spirit" of their characters and their community.
  9. Sorry Zwil, but I've gotta do it...

    BUMP.
  10. This is a build that I've been asked about more times than I can count.

I once had someone resub, specifically to be able to send me a tell to ask me about my Warshade's build.

    Honestly, I don't blame them.

This build is the end result of all of the hours upon hours of respecs, trial and error, and seemingly infinite testing that I've put into my Warshade.

Some specs on the build, before you look:

-Perma Eclipse- Harpcapped res to everything w/ 5 targets.

-32.5% Defense to all positions (small purple from the softcap... To EVERYTHING. )

-High end ST DPS (G Well>Blast>Drain>Blast- Enough to solo a lvl 53 AV at the very least, without pets or temps.)

-The best AOE a Human Warshade could hope for- Competing with the best practical spawn clearing speeds that ANY Warshade could hope for if we ever got crashless Quasar.

-The best Crowd Control available to Warshades- Nothing to sneeze at.

-Includes Provoke and t4 Melee Hybrid, for a taunt aura and constant aggro generator.

This is my ULTIMATE builld. It's a Tankiblaster Domshade, and I love it to death.

I love the build just as much as the character I use it on, who is my main. So try to keep that in mind when you think about why I didn't release the build until now.

Turn passive Accolades and Incarnates on for proper stats.

Some follow up's if you don't mind..

Were you enough of a vet to have earned free access to Controllers, Masterminds, the Auction House, AE, Super Groups and IO's without paying a sub fee?

If you didn't have access to any of the above things, would you have quit playing, or would you have re-subbed?
  12. Alright, so I've been thinking about this a little...

Premium players, did you stop paying your sub and keep playing the game because you had already earned everything else but Incarnates through vet rewards?

Did you stop playing the game regularly?

What could have gotten you to keep subscribing that you weren't already getting for free, aside from end game stuff?

The reason I'm wondering about this is that it dawned on me that the Premium option was probably a bad idea. I mean, if we stuck with "Payers and Non-Payers," I feel like the game could've earned more money.

The problem with an old game like this going F2P with such generous offers for vets to play and stop paying is that we essentially banked all of our hopes on the end game system, which though I enjoyed it, many criticized.

Maybe if there was no option for Premium, no free IO licenses and free AT access through scaling vet rewards, we could've seen COH making more money.

    ...

I don't know, it probably wouldn't have made a difference. I'm just in "angry mode," probably part of the steps of acceptance or whatever it's called.

But right now as someone who subscribed every single month and bought a bunch of extra points outside my free VIP stipend, the concept of Premium players is just annoying me, and I wanna put them on the spot. Nothing personal or anything.

No, I mean, I understand all that. I just don't think, "It didn't do well in the East" is a fair reason to justify shutting COH down. They already knew it didn't do well in the east and they stopped selling it to that market BEFORE they started funding the future of COH. It's just not a reasonable justification to me.

That meant that CoH was then flagged as Western-only MMO in NCSoft's eyes - which is fine if they're fosuing on the Western and the Asian markets - but not so fine if they decide to "refocus" everything on the Asian market, as they seem to be doing now.

And yet they still bankrolled Freedom after that failure, so it's not a fair excuse.

Obviously Freedom wasn't launched in the east, so "Well it didn't appeal to the eastern market" isn't a fair reason for shutting down COH.

If that's why they wanted to shut it down, they should've done it back then.

The ultimate point here is that NCS obviously knew COH had no eastern market, so that's just not a fair excuse to me. Why fund Freedom if your fallback for it not meeting your expectations is "Well it had no Eastern market."

No **** it had no Eastern market. It wasn't even sold in the East.

Editing to get this back on track, because all of my comments related to this subject have been in cascading response to:

Let's not trash or insult Champions. Their community seems to be pretty supportive of us right now, and a Cryptic Dev who used to work here was even posting here yesterday.

I know people are upset about losing COH, and believe me, I am too.. But let's try not to take it out on people who aren't even remotely to blame.

Super Heroes are western icons. That seems like more of a cultural conflict to me- For whatever reason, Asian culture is very popular amongst the gaming-inclined folks in the west. They just didn't seem to reciprocate the feeling when it came to heroes.

Also: Are there even eastern translations of COH? I know we had French and German servers, but I don't remember hearing anything about Chinese/Korean/etc. COH servers. AFAIK, COH never even made an effort to appeal to that market.

And even if it did, and it was before my time, I'm 99% certain that it was before Freedom launched.. Which means that NCSoft was fully aware of the marketing base before they green lighted Freedom.
