  1. That is exactly what I was looking for, thanks a bunch for the response. I'd run a Dark/Dark Corrupter up until the mid 20's before, and I REALLY liked it. But seeing so many other corrupters around made it a bit of a bummer to me, in addition to just having been burnt out on Villains.

I've always liked the Dominator/Controller types, too. Some of my favorite classes to play. I just can't find any controller powerset combinations I really enjoy.

    Dark/Dark it is!
  2. ...alright. I'm not a "new" player, but I've always favored Villains more than heroes. And after having got some villain characters going nicely, I decided I wanted to try (once again) with the hero side of things.

Few things first. I like playing classes that other people don't like playing. If it's not something I'm going to see everybody else doing, I want to do THAT. Defenders seem like the least common hero archetype (not including epics) - would that be a fair enough assumption?

I'm considering as a result of those assumptions, creating a Dark/Dark Defender. I'm very familiar with the Dark sets, though mostly on the villain side. I enjoy debuff moreso than team buff, I like some control, and the theme. I am expecting out of the build a good team heal with Twilight Grasp, and various levels of what will almost definately be underappreciated debuffing of baddies in various ways (through some soft controls and lots of to-hit debuffs).

Am I on the right track?
  3. Fun takes priority, definately. I've played all the classes (except the epic archetypes) a fair bit, enough to get a feel for them. My favorites wound up being dominator, corrupter, stalker, not necessarily in that order. I've got a lvl 20 something Mind/Psi dom, a couple 20 something stalkers on another account from a year or two ago, and now I'm running a Dark/Dark Corr and I'm really enjoying all of them.

Corrupter seems to be a pretty happy medium thus far. I haven't encountered too many others, and all the ones I do encounter are of different powersets. I will probably roll with one or two primaries and tag along the third one as I feel the urge.

Thanks for all the input everyone.
  4. I'd run a mastermind if I had a bit more control over the appearance and nature of the minions, but I'm super picky as to that. Artist's mentality, I guess.

Right now I'm running three characters, a dark/dark corrupter (chosen for survivability, mostly), a mind/psi dom, and a stalker who's yet to really been defined. I'm just looking to see which one winds up as my primary. Might run with the corruptor.

I guess we'll see. If anyone else has suggestions or input, always appreciated. Cheers to all.
  5. Figures. I've got this personal thing, I can't stand playing a class I'm going to see a lot of. I, however, enjoy both PvE and PvP play. ...well son of a crap. What to do now, I wonder. It's not to say I'm looking for a class I'll NEVER see again. That's impossible. I just enjoy playing what isn't played often. Archetype/powerset.

New question, if the wonderful CoH community feels inclined to answer:

With Doms/Stalkers being somewhat of a rarity in PvE, but apparently very common in PvP. What then, would be uncommon powersets?

I've also considered simply running Corr, in hopes of not showing up too often in PvE or PvP.

    My brain has aches.
  6. That's about what I thought, I do appreciate it. I ask only because I see a ton of doms and stalkers on Mercy, but the ratio seems to change very drastically after that. Guess not too many folks manage to get their doms or stalkers to a very high level too often.

May I ask - do these ratios hold true even in the PVP going crowd? Or are the ratios very different in the PvE/PvP environments?
  7. I've wanted to ask this question for awhile now. I'm "new", I guess. Newer. Not been playing enthusiastically for too long, though I've popped in here and there over the years.

I enjoy Villains. And I wanted to know which two Archetypes are the least common - not including the epic archetypes.

I have been told that dominators and stalkers are the least common classes, as a result of some bad rep in the early days.

For those with more experience, which archetypes do you see the least?

    Cheers and thanks.
