This was made for a different topic, but I just wanted to see what everyone thought of it. Maybe give a little feedback on what you did/didn't like.
--------
Temporal Strike (Temp) looked at the small map on her wristCOM. The target was located somewhere on the 30th and between her and it were a couple hundred guards, alarms, and a few guard dogs.
Looks like fun, she said with a sneer. The 4 sentry guns placed through out the courtyard would be easily enough disabled, but by the time she reached her target, someone wouldve noticed and raised an alarm.
So she started off, sneaking along the base of the vine-covered courtyard wall. In the distance she could see 3 guards patrolling, and 2 more chatting about their wives? She shook her head, laughing softly. Reaching the side of the building, she stopped. The courtyard extended about 30ft past the front of the building, until the wall turned and connected with the building. The space was ill-lit and looked like it contained a relay box. She snuck over to it, and opened it slowly. Apparently the Council wasnt as bright as some thought. The wiring was all nicely labeled for whomever, Sentry 1, Sentry 2, Sentry 3 She reached into her belt and pulled out a tiny device. Inserting it between the wires, she closed the box and went around the front of the building.
The entry way was covered and downward lit. Patiently waiting for the guards, they eventually all turned away from the entry. Using a drain pipe, she climbed up the balcony over the doorway. The doorway into the building from the balcony was glass, and the room beyond was dark. She pulled down her visor and examined the door. It didnt seem to be connected to the alarm system, but she placed a scrambler on the glass anyway, just to be safe. Opening the door slowly, she slunk inside. The room looked like a company presidents office: mahogany furniture, giant desk, bookshelves galore, and nice array of liquor.
She went to the computer and turned it on. Connecting her wristCOM to it through its USB port, she began hacking. Seemed it was connected to the mainframe, but was kept separate from the Central Security Systems. She downloaded a number of files, including detailed maps of each floor.
Jackpot.
Backing out of the system she ran into a hitch. It seemed to want a logout password. She had never seen that before in a security system. There was a countdown time starting at 30. It seemed that she was in the security chiefs public office and if the logout password wasnt given in the timeframe, the alarm would sound. She looked around quickly, trying to think what it could be. After a number of failed tries, she noticed that whoever this guy was, he liked his whiskey. Hoping this would be the last, she entered JACK DANIELS. Seconds passed like hours. Eventually it green-lighted and the computer shut down. She let out a sigh. Theyre always finding new ways of making my job harder.
Going to the door, Temp pushed a small camera under the door. Lowering her visor again, she could see into the hallway beyond. There was a guard at either ends of the hallway, both facing outward. She waited to see if they were patrolling or just placed guards. They didnt move for 5 minutes. Pulling the camera back and raising her visor, she looked at her wristCOM, now displaying a map of the floor she was on, which was the 3rd. It looked like the elevator was down the hall and around the corner, about 50yrds away from where she was. Her other choices were going back outside and up 30 stories (the 30th-32nd stories didnt have any windows for security purposes) or the maintenance elevator on the other side of the floor, about 100yrds away from her. She looked at her map again. She made a small note where the guards were and made her decision.
Slowly opening the door, she entered the hallway. Both guards were still there, unmoving. Turned right from the door and crept towards the guard. About 2yrds from him, it looked as though she went from creeping to instantly having the guard in a sleeper hold.
We wouldnt want your friend to be alarmed would we?
The guard shook his head in agreeance.
Gooood, now, you wouldnt happen to know if there are anymore guards near the elevator down the hall would you?
The guard shook his head no.
Excellent, she whispered in a cheery tone, then Im sure youll forget we had this conversation.
She dragged the guard with her towards the elevator. The doors opened without incident. Forming a gleaming white, insubstantial blade from her fist, she pushed it into the back of the guards skull. His eyes flared for a second then closed as his shoulders slumped. Im sure youll wake up feeling quite refreshed, she waved goodbye as the doors closed.
Looking over the elevator control panel, it looked like she needed a key card to access the secure levels. It was too risky to open the doors and see if the guard had one. There was a comm port on the panel, which she connected to her wristCOM. The security system on the elevator was simpler than the computer earlier. A simple number sequence later, the elevator started moving upwards. Standing up, she reached for the access panel in the ceiling. Climbing out and closing it behind her, she waited as the elevator went higher.
Seemed security was lax tonight, as the elevator reached the 30th floor with no problems. There was a vent a little above the elevator when it stopped, into which Temp crawled. Fully in the vent, she looked at her wristCOM again. The vent system winded its way through the whole floor, connecting to itself in many places. Cross referencing it with where the cell was, she began making her way to the closes vent opening. Nicely, there was one located directly above the cell door. She couldnt see any guards from where she was, but stuck the camera through to check. There was a guard coming down the hallway from both ways, and they crossed next to the door beside the targets. This block was a square and the must be moving opposite each other, which gave her a little under 3 minutes to get into the cell and get the target out. The hallways were fairly dark, but the camera, which thankfully was located directly above the door, was probably fitted with night vision or thermal. She looked at the locking mechanism, of which there was none
Great, my night just keeps getting better, she complained.
Unfortunately for Temp, each door was opened by remote. She looked at her wristCOM, reading the security specs for the building. It told her what she wanted to see, but not WHICH guard had the remote. By now the guards were on the other side of the cell block, keeping her from being able to do this subtly. Picking the guard that was going to come down the left hallway, she waited till the security camera was facing the opposite direction. Quickly but quietly moving down the hall, she glanced around the corner. No guard yet. Moving about a quarter the way down the hall, she backed against one wall. Using momentum, she ran up the wall and jumped against the other wall, doing a split jump (Splinter Cell FTW). The guard came waltzing down the hall, whistling merrily. She dropped on him from above, knocking him out cold. Quickly searching his body, nothing. Hmm... this could be bad, she mused. Looking around the corner again, the camera was facing away, but would be moving back her direction any minute. Pressed against the wall with the camera as hard as she could, she moved towards the opposite hallway. She was able to counter the camera perfectly, as it faced the opposite wall as she reached the hallway. The guard was just rounding the corner as he flew into the wall with a loud THUD. She cringed. Quickly moving his body out of the way of the camera, she searched this ones body, with more luck.
Moving back to the cell door, she found the cell on the remote. Pressing the button, Cell 75-A opened with a hiss of escaping air. The target inside, was clothed in a blue jumpsuit, with a label of Prisoner 54C184.
Quickly, come with me. Theres no time to explain.
The target had a bewildered look on his face, but took her hand anyway. Helping him into the vent, they made their way back to the elevator. Unfortunately it had been recalled back to the first floor. She reached into her belt and pulled out a climbing harness. Put this one, she said, thrusting it into his arms. Shakily he put on the harness, which she checked for completeness. Connecting his harness to the identical one she was wearing, she pressed a button on her wristCOM. The gloves she wore shimmered for a second, and then returned to normal.
Hold onto my waist, and for Gods sake, dont look down. Unless heights dont scare you, then feel free.
She gripped the elevator cable and began going down. About halfway down the elevator starting going up, but thankfully only to the 3rd floor, where it stopped. Reaching to top of the elevator car, she unhooked him and pressed the same button on her wristCOM again. They dropped into the car and pressed First Floor. The first floor was a giant lobby, darkened after working hours. She lowered her visor and could see red lines jump to life all over the floor. Normally this would pose no problem what-so-ever, but she had the target, and he definitely couldnt get through on his own.
Stick right behind me and dont move unless I do, she told him with out turning around. Reaching the first sensor, she pulled a small gold button out of her belt. Placing it on the side of the laser sensor, the laser flashed then went out. She continued this until there were 4 sensors left. Thankfully he had stayed right behind her as the device only lasted for about 10 seconds before the lasers overloaded them. Now, she had run out of said devices. Hoping he could follow her movements, she placed him right in front of herself.
Follow my movements and we should be fine.
Together they bother lifted their right legs and moved it forward, up and over the laser (which the target couldnt see). Continuing with their left legs they made it over the laser, and copied it till they had made it halfway over the last one. Unfortunately the target slipped and his toe passed through the beam. Instantly the alarms began blaring. Seeing a line of large potted bushes leading from the doorway to either side, she ducked behind them, with the target in tow.
They watched as 5 guards came rushing in from the courtyard and fan out to begin searching the premise. Making their way towards the door behind the cover of the pots, she tossed a present for their hosts as they rushed out the door. They made into the shadows as she watched 10 heavily armed and armoured commandos descend from the sky. Grinning sinisterly, she whispered to the target, This should be fun. Pressing a button on her wristCOM, there could be seen a small spark from the sentry turret junction box. The device she had put in there reversed the sensors on the turrets, effectively making friends, enemies, and enemies, friends. The turrets started firing on the commandos, causing them to scatter and dive for cover. They made their way along the courtyard walls under protective cover fire from the turrets. Reaching the far wall, Temp tossed a rope over the wall.
Wow, thanks for getting me out of their, I have to get back to the base. Who sent you anyway?
A benefactor.
Well they have my forever debt, he said has he headed for the rope. But never made it. He was hit in the throat from a roundhouse kick so fast it seemed as if nothing touched him. Instantly going from walking forward to crumpling to the ground, he attempted to breathe through his crushed trachea. Blood began pooling on the ground from his mouth.
Ill leave you this last thought as you drown in your own blood. Next time dont speak so freely, loose tongues have a tendency to get cut off.
She left him lying there, trying to draw breath, crawling for the rope. He never made it.

Now you may be wondering about some things that went on. First off, possibly why she waited until the end to kill him. Honestly I dont know, but Temporal Strike has a sadistic side that gets carried away at times. Second, why he went with her when he knew there were people looking to kill him for the information he knew. He figured if she was there to kill him, she wouldve done it right away, not wait. Oh how wrong he was. Thirdly. Can Temporal Strike stop time? And what was the white glowing knife thingy? Well those are her powers. She cant actually stop time per se, but she can move so fast it seems as if everyone around her has been frozen in time. As to the knife, it cuts through the targets consciousness and removes any memories of her ever being there. Quite handy, especially in her line of work. And the wristCOM you ask? Just think of it like a PDA on steroids, a LOT of steroids. The last thing, her present she left in the lobby, was a nicely made flash bang. The guards wont be able to see for a couple hours, and their ears are probably bleeding pretty badly. -
Wow, just wow! Not what I had expected, but still amazing. The Paragon Protectorish spin was definitly a nice touch. Another well done origin! Now to find a character I don't have much background on
But looks like I've been working your imaginative gears pretty well.
Edit: When you finish Halfpint and Deathtrip's I've got another sci-fi one for you, one with little more than an in-game bio. -

Edit: I was going a bit long anyway, so I took some creative liberties. Only big one was who had the cell key, cause if Temp started traipsing around the building to find the security chief, it would've gone on forever -
This looks like a great idea, instead of a continuing RP that you have to worry about. Here you post once and you're done, unless you want to wait for the next scenario. Mine's coming soon, I'm currently typing it out in Word

Alrighty, I'm gonna work your writing skills until someone else wants a turn
Unless you have an issue, then I'll give you a break. This next one has a little backstory already created, but the details are scetchy.
Vield Hawk
Name: Sara Thompson
Origin: Mutant
Powersets: Energy Blast / Devices (she can also fly)
Siblings: One older sister and one younger brother, ages 23 and 17. Neither have powers, but all 3 were treated equally by their parents so they have no ill feelings toward Sara or her powers.
Age: 21
Hobbies: Tinkering/Inventing, Shopping, Going out with friends
Personality: Outgoing & cheery, intolerant of stupidity, brutally honest at times
Status: Single
-Bio-
Sara was born with the ability to manipulate ambient energy. Her parents didn't know about it till she turned 4, at which time she accidentally blew up the kitchen table. After the incident she was placed under the tutelage of the hero Blue Nova, who had powers similar to Sara's. After 7 years she was in full control of her powers and finding new ways of using them. After graduating from Paragon U at the age of 20, she worked for Crey for a year, developing the tech for their Memory Dump device. Due to conflicts within the company, Sara left Crey, taking with her 50% of the Memory Dump profits written into her contract. She donned a mask and became the Veiled Hawk after seeing the failures within Crey and the good that she could do for those around her.
----
Sara is what you can call a genius when it comes to technology. She graduated from Paragon University with a double major in electrical engineering and biotech/bioengineering. But she also has street smarts, taught to her by both her father and Blue Nova.
She's fairly free spirited and knows how to joke and have a good time. But she also has a serious side.
The "confict" about the Memory Dump has to do with a scheme Crey came up with. They were going to use the device to read and record the thoughts of the people that used the device (it was made to hold memories so that they would be easily retrieved when needed). She felt guilty when she found out about it, since she had been a major player in it's creation. So, with the help of Blue Nova, she had the warehouse, storing a majority of the devices, destroyed. The rest were recalled by Crey because of possibly "security issues." Sara claims she left the company because Crey was trying to point a finger at her, saying she left a hole in the device's coding (none of this ever went public, it was all within the company). Unfortunately Crey had their hands tied as the money was written into her contract. So she left a very multi-millionaire.
She trained with Blue Nova between the ages of 4 and 11. She was homeschooled up until that time, when she joined the public school system. No one but her close friends knew about her powers. Through her school career she was popular (both for her good looks and personality, people just liked her), a cheerleader, and did all the things that teenagers do, except that she graduated highschool at 16 and college at 20.
She still maintains contact with her friends (of which she has many) and goes out on a regular basis, when not patrolling Paragon (the same close friends that know of her powers also know she's Vieled Hawk).
Now she uses her money and abilities to help people (most of it was invested, so she'll never be wanting for money).
Her parents are wealthy, and currently live in a small mansion in Founders' Falls. Sara's mother is a pediatric doctor and her father is the founder of FlameTech Corp. In his late 40s, he has stepped down from the day to day running of the company, but he still maintains a hand in all of it's business dealings. FlameTech Corp. is a multi-national company specializing in weapons and defense. It was started just prior to the Rikti invasion. Oh, and she has a good relationship with her parents, who were never too busy to spend time with their children, and her siblings.

Hope this one turns out as great as the last one. Can't wait. Oh and thanks again!! -
((I'm back now from the new year festivities, so we can continue whenever everyone gets back.))

I PM'd you on some inconsistencies with how my version of her background goes, but as to epic, it's amazing! Like I said another view point helps, and it seems you have the best seat in the house. I like the vampri part, definitely. Your welcome for the opportunity, and I thank you for playing!
I may have another for you, but this one won't be already thought out like Shoshemi's was, so definitly much easier for you -
This sounds great!! Most of my characters already have fairly well written backgrounds, but it's always good to get another point of view. Here goes...
Shoshemi
Name: Shoshemi
Siblings: Kikio
Origin: Magic
Powerset: Gravity Control / Force Field
History: *Ingame ID Card* As one of the Li-Long Monks, it is Shoshemi's sworn duty to protect the secret that has been guarded by the monks for centuries. Taught the magiks of "Inryoku Chikara Bunya" by her master, she continues to safeguard the Li-Long Secret. In recent times, with the order coming under attack, Shoshemi has taken a proactive stance, defeating those she deems a threat to the secrecy of the Li-Long Monks. Her sister Kikyo, also a Li-Long Monk, was captured by The Council for information pertaining to what the secret is and how it can be found. She was rescued, but due to the torture she had been through, she was left a broken shell of her former self. Because of that, Shoshemi has sworn to defeat Requem, even if it kills her in the process.
As all acolytes are instructed, Shoshemi has found her Inner Self. Not many in the monastery wear the gold sash, or Jinzu, of inner peace. The trial is long and exhausting, a fatal path traveled only by those that have found their inner self.
The Li Long Monks are an old order, dating back to the early 1300s. It was started by a man, known as Li Long. It is said that they guards a Secret. What the Secret is, what it could mean, is known only to 5 monks at any one time. Shoshemi is one of them.
Each monk trains physically for 7 hours each morning, beginning at 5AM. Following that they pray to whatever god they feel, and then meditate for 4 hours, attempting to reach their inner self. Those that believe they have are giving a test to reach the Jinzu. If pass it, they are allowed to wear the sash, if they dont, most likely they havent survived. When one finds their inner self, they are able to tap into, as of yet, unreachable sources of power. The power of the soul. They seem calmer, much more intouch with themselves and those around them.
Shoshemi is one of 4 monks currently wearing the Jinzu. No one knows why she has a third eye, or why it is absent most of the time, only that it shows itself when she channels extreme amounts of energy. "Inryoku Chikara Bunya" is japanese for "Gravitational Force Field," which goes with her powersets.
(Those are just pieced together, sorry if it's a bit random)
Shoshemi is a serious person, always one to remain calm and view the situation before making decisions, but she is still able to think on her feet and make fast decisions when needed.

Thanks for the offer and I can't wait to see what you come up with! -
((Aight. Well if anyone posts between now and 7:30 when I go to work, I'll try and reply, but if not, have a happy new years! I'll be back on monday
))
-
((Well if he's just manipulating the room temp, it's not going to just go through your eyes. The way you put it made it seem like he's forcing the energy through there.))
-
((Then if that's how it works, just turning around would effectively stop it.))

((Hmm... that was just pulled out of my [censored]. Next guess, it's just from looking at him. We were deemed unworthy, so looking at pure justice would have that effect.))
Shoshemi blinked a few times. Then a thought occured to her (see above OOC). She strengthened her force field about ten fold, then once again muttering a prayer to whatever god she worshipped, Shoshemi closed her eyes... -
((You know it, I'll be gone from from when I go to bed tonight till probably monday afternoon /cry))
-
((I see what Diov is saying though. He may not have human emotion, he is designed as one that is not "good" per se, but one that is "lawful." I'm basing this off of the 4 alignments: good, evil, lawful, and chaotic. And while you could counter point it with pure chaos, unfortunately Shoshemi and her Order are almost all lawful neutral, if you've noticed the prevailent "anti-chaos" theme in Sho's posts. Doesn't mean she can't fight it, but that she may be a bit less effective than Alex's more chaotic nature.))
Shoshemi shielded her eyes. Her guess was the heat was coming from staring straight into pure light. She went into a defensive stance and strengthened the gravity below the Avatar, attempting to lock it to the ground.
((Sho's force field she almost perpetually keeps around herself while fighting isn't like the PFF from CoH. It's much weaker [in CoH PFF makes you nigh invulnerable] and allows the use of powers outside of the field. -
"Hm... it melted. What a strange place this is. Judging on experience and this whole situation, and the look on your face, I'm going to say it wasn't good."
Shoshemi formed a force field around herself, preparing for the worst. -
((Oh... My... God... Pretty much I hate my job right now, because the last post I did, was right before I left. And this is right after I got home *noise of a gun being cocked*))
Through the entire debacle Shoshemi had stood there calmly, an anchor in the storm. For someone how had just turned a complete 180 in moments, this was a pivotal point.
Alex had handled it better than Shoshemi thought she would. For a young girl to come to so much power, Shoshemi was still a little worried about her. She pushed it to the back of her mind, there were more important matters at hand.
"Perhaps you should see what the scroll says." -
((HA Diov figured out where I was going!))
Shoshemi stood up abruptly. She went over to the machine that was labeled "Anything. Speak Clearly" and asked for an injection to rid herself of the nanites. And nicely one popped out, except it wasn't an injection, it came in pill form. She took it, and immediately felt the void begin to shrink. It would take a bit for it to run the course, but she accepted it for now.
"You're right, we'd best be off." -
((Yeah, with apparently half my brain gone O.o Anyway, I've said my 2 bits, lets get back to the game. And my last post wasn't meant to be harsh, I've just had rough week and now Sho's brain is getting eat by nanites. So it might've been a bit rougher than intended.))
-
((Ah the assumptions one makes... And on a side note, you yourself has said this on many, many occasions, when you RP you have control of your character alone. Yes, for the sake of the story we let you have a little control, but you're starting to cross that boundary, especially with me.))
She thought she felt something, and she really did. But thankfully Diov can't spell and said "his." Last time we checked Shoshemi is a female, so this "his" mind wasn't actually her's. She remained intact, apart from the initial "processing." And as effective as nanites are, for one so in tune with her body and surroundings as Shoshemi, they would be effective to start out because of their invasive nature, but would eventually be resisted. Diminshing returns ftw.
((For those of you reading, don't put this post into the actual storyline, it's just me ranting a little in a sarcastic manner. And Diov will probably respond saying I should've PM'd him, and I would've if it wasn't 1am. Please don't cry Diov, I just want the fighting to start again [in the RP, not between the posters])) -
((Ugh, working and trying to RP, not a good combination. BTW I work tomorrow AKA Saturday from 7am pacific till probably around 3 or 4pm so hopefully nothing too drastic will happen while I'm gone >_<
)
Standing beside Krystell ((I just realized I've been spelling her name wrong, sorry)), Shoshemi could feel the void. She wondered if their "processing" actually worked, so she tried to conjure a force field. All she got was a small bubble about the size of her fist. Something was blocking her ability to control the Weave. ((Anyone that has ever played D&D will know what I'm talking about))
Shoshemi sat down on a bench that was in the room. Out of one of her pockets she pulled a small scroll. It was fairly ordinary looking, as scrolls go, except maybe a little tattered and worn. She began reading it. The runes written on it glowed a slight blue as she went over them. When she was done, the void felt that much smaller. Shoshemi was certain she could use some of her powers if need be, but not all, and not to the the degree she could have before being "processed."
She stood up and walked to the machine that was labeled "Anything. Speak Clearly." So she said "Meditation pillow," and out one came. Finding a confortable spot, Shoshemi put the pillow down, sat down on it and began meditating. She had her eyes closed, but she was still fully aware of her surroundings.
((Those machines remind me of "Mr. Coffee" & "Mr. Movie Rental" from Space Balls))
-
"I'll consent to everything but this trans-arcane pact you speak of."
That said, Shoshemi muttered a short prayer, then stepped onto the pad... -
"Unfortunately it looks like we have no choice, backup or no."
Shoshemi started for the door... -
"Of course it's a trap."
Shoshemi turned to Noitpeced.
"Perhaps you can take us to a sealed room, along with H'taed, where we may finish this without delay? Without the need to be 'processed'." -
"Hmm... That doesn't really seem fair. And in theory you couldn't drain all of our power. And as for binding us to a pact, that can only be done with our consension, it's one of those universal truths."
